I never comment on CZcams but today, I will make an exception.
For three years, I fought to get a scholarship to study in my dream university in my dream country to do my dream master. I had no money to study, NONE!
I would work my butt off doing internships that I was either not paid for or very little paid for. I had no social life and almost no friends.
But I knew that this was a little sacrifice compared to what I would have if I was admitted to the university. And I was granted the scholarship!!
The day before I travelled to pursue my master , I lost my brother. I was devasted. I cried and asked God “Why are you doing this to me? Why now? Why?”.
I was desperate and I thought I would never make it. My dream was starting with a nightmare.
Yet, I did not give up.
Yesterday, I submitted my dissertation. This morning when I woke up, I discovered this song.
It is as if God was talking to me. I have been crying since then.
Believe people, believe! Believe in yourself, being in your strength and believe that if you put your heart into something, God will facilitate.
    Love from Mali 🇲🇱

Mariam, thank you so much for sharing your story and encouraging others. God was definitely speaking to you. Teni is speaking in English and Yoruba. The Yoruba lyrics also say that "I rejoiced with others when good things happened to them, but now I too can finally rejoice. At last, my day of rejoicing has come." All the best to you and congratulations on finishing your program. God bless!

And they won't help you just so you know
Just keep on pushing oh uhooo
Where my dad can't get to, I'll get there and beyond
Where my mum can't get to, I'll get there and beyond
Oh my goodness I beg of you
Oh goodness grant me my breakthrough
Oh my goddness do not slacken
    The joy.....

    Oh Joy
The Joy I have expressed for others shall be my portion too
    The joy.....
    The joy.....
    Oh Joy
The Joy I have expressed for others shall be my portion too
Here are my palms as white as snow
I will swagger higher and higher
    (Self-eulogizing)
    Daughter of Oluwoleje
    Daughter of Apata too
I stand unshakable on my feet
    Ah
They thought I was finished but God had other plans
They thought I was finished but God had other plans
Humanity is the duty of all
    The wealth mustn't slumber
You should stay with me everyday
Do not let the enemy slander me
Whereever you may be I know you are proud of me
    because
    I'm an achiever, I achieve
    because
    I'm cool, calm and collected
I've made it in my life, eh, I've made it, eh
I've done good with my life, I've done good

Svetoslava Stoqnova Uyo meyo lehun osan o Kan mi o eh
It's my turn for people to rejoice with me just the way I've rejoiced with so many of them
2:00 I will go above and beyond where my mother and father couldn't reach in life
2:11 my head (my God) please make a way for me in this life
2:17 my head (my God) do not sleep (please rise on my behalf)
2:40 my hands are clean and pure (a Yoruba way of claiming innocence)
2:45 I will walk tall heads up. till I get to the top
2:49 calling her indigenous translational names reminding herself the daughter of who she is and how she will continue to hold on
3:03 they thought and even said it's over with me but God said no. I'm just starting
3:13 children covers nakedness better than clothes do for the body (African proverb)
3:18 olaosebikan (her dead dad presumably) please do not sleep wherever you are. Walk with me everyday. don't let the enemies worry me
3:33 wherever you are looking down on me (possible referring to her dad) I know you are happy because I'm making you proud
3:38 I'm walking tall in life. Yes I'm
3:48 I'm successful in this one life I've got yes im....

Who is here August 2019? My testimony goes, a year ago I was in labor and using my headphone to listen to good music while going through the childbirth process. Teni! Uyo Meyo came on and my spirit and soul lifted. I had no idea what the meaning of the song was at the time, I broke down in tears when I heard "Don't let them tell you, you can't. Just keep on pushing on..." My water broke and our son was delivered safely, no intervention. Teni, you are God sent.

Probably because of the heavy talking drums called "dundun" in nigeria or "tama" in senegal. They are played throughout western africa but senegalese music uses it the most.

THE REPOST Uyo meyo lehun osan o Kan mi o eh
It's my turn for people to rejoice with me just the way I've rejoiced with so many of them
2:22 I will go above and beyond where my mother and father couldn't reach in life
2:33 my head (my God) please make a way for me in this life
2:39 my head (my God) do not sleep (please rise on my behalf)
3:03 my hands are clean and pure (a Yoruba way of claiming innocence)
3:08 I will walk tall heads up. till I get to the top
3:12 calling her indigenous translational names reminding herself the daughter of who she is and how she will continue to hold on
3:25 they thought and even said it's over with me but God said no. I'm just starting
3:35 children covers nakedness better than clothes do for the body (African proverb)
3:40 olaosebikan (her dead dad presumably) please do not sleep wherever you are. Walk with me everyday. don't let the enemies worry me
3:55 wherever you are looking down on me (possible referring to her dad) I know you are happy because I'm making you proud
4:05 I'm walking tall in life. Yes I'm
4:12 I'm successful in this one life I've got yes im....

Wow. There's something about language. Nigerian artists embraced their local languages plus hard work and excellent production. This is why they are excelling. Did anybody noticed she eulogised her dad towards the end? Some message can never be passed across except in the local language. Meanwhile this is on repeat till God knows when. ' ha won l'pe tan sugbon oluwa s'ope pku...'
