The most American song made by some Swedish hillbillys in the 90s. ♥️
Yeah we still quite a bit
First Carameldansen and now Cotton Eye Joe. It's official, the Swedish can imitate any culture through song.
Solaire 22 It's funny how it's from Japan to America
@@solaire2271 Wait till you hear about Mamma Mia by Abba
The punchline? *THESE GUYS ARE SWEDISH.*
Not only is Sweden responsible for Caramelldansen, they’re responsible for THIS. And MAMMA MIA. And Minecraft. And the Nobel Prize. And PewDiePie. And Roomie. And Seth Everman. And AronChupa. And Greta Thunberg. And IKEA. And Spotify. And Volvo. And Stieg Larsson. And the Skarsgårds.
Dang, Sweden’s responsible for a lot of stuff.
Benjamin O'Konski most importantly, theyre responsible for vargskeletor joel
So what i'm getting is, they're basically the australians from Team Fortress 2.
@@Exomix And all of his 1000 memes
And Sabaton, and Smile.dk
And also my home country. The Philippines!
We did...um...
*you know what nevermind.*
...After looking for lyrics, I just discovered that this song actually has lyrics and does not consist of gibberish.
My childhood was all lies.
I refuse to acknowledge "If it hadn't been for" as the actual lyrics, no matter what the internet says and the creators intended.

This song played at least once at every elementary school and middle school dance.
Flashbacks.
I’m in Kansas. We had to square dance to it.
Those are some bad flashbacks.
Along with Rock around the Clock
From Virginia.
Can confirm.
Yeehaw.
I live in fucking Poland and my middle school P.E. teacher uses Cotton Eye Joe on fitness lessons.
Always includes some really bad dancing. This song will almost certainly be followed up with the cha cha slide! lol
The most iconic song for elementary and middle school dances
Perdix Geek2 Cha cha slide begs to differ
Perdix Geek2 this was played at the last frat party I was at lmao
And high school dances
Don't forget high school dances
It was also popular in Scandinavia in the 90s..! It was included on either Hits For Kids 1 or 2 that came out in 1998 and 1999 respectively if I remember correctly. Some of the songs were great like this one, some casually racist like a Swedish guy pretending to be a Calcuttan taxi driver and Witch Doctor (the music video...), some typical stuff of the day like n'sync or how it's written, spears, aqua, spice, and backstreet, and some... You wouldn't want a kid look at the music video or understand the lyrics... Man... Those albums were weird... But it was catchy and sounded funny, and that was all kids cared about... And it was the 90s...
I was about to propose to my girlfriend when my roommate Joseph barged into the room out of nowhere, tripped, and fell over, breaking a glass table with his face. Totally ruined the mood. Now I don't know Joseph THAT well, don't even remember where he was from, but let's say I put my plans on hold to help him through his injuries.
Joseph had gotten a big glass shard in his eye, making him completely blind in that eye. He was walking around with one of those big cotton pads on his eye for a couple of months. Then suddenly, he disappeared, along with my girlfriend.
Apparently they'd bonded during the time after his injuries, and eloped together, leaving me behind without as much as a note. I tried to track them down, but never could.
If it hadn't been for Cotton Eye Joe. I'd have been married a long time ago. Where did you come from, where did you go? Where did you come from, cotton eye Joe?
Fuck that's good
The real question is, how can Joe see anything with cotton eyes?
They never said both his eyes were cotton.
I've always imagined it as one eye being cotton (as a sort of eyepatch).
Not to be autistic about it but cotton-eyed could mean white-eyed, as in showing a lot of the white, meaning wide-eyed, meaning anxious/fearful. Cotton-eye joe going here and there makes sense if he’s chronically on edge.
Maybe he PICKS what he wants to see?
Hundwyn Etheling what makes that autistic??
He really sounds like a country singer and a rock ‘n’ roll star all mixed together from the beginning there
Omg yes he does
Huh, yes.
Billy ray Cyrus style
“We’re playing cotton eye joe everyone!”
Texas has entered the chat
no no no,
Alabama has entered the chat,
this is a southern song, not texas
Tevita Vuki what?
Tevita Vuki Texas is part of the south...?
Sweden has entered the chat 😉
no Texas is Texas, its not part of anything
Where did you come from, where did you go?
Kowalski, analysis.
We know not where he came from,
We know not where he's gone,
All we know is that when you're most vulnerable...
...Joe is watching.
W-wait.....WHAT!?
Always watching Wazowski,
Always watching, always...
Oh God
So you are never alone at least.
Hol up, who is Joe?
If it hadn't been eye for Drummer-eye Jerod, I'd been done long time ago.
Jerod, I have work to do... But I guess I'll binge watch again.
And now i'm waiting for a WALUIGI version of it.
cotton WAH joe
I have such long and wonderful memories about this song
Flashbacks to the first Just Dance for the Wii 😐😮🙃😆
1:21 Anybody else hear the Spy from TF2?
it appears i have burst into flame
OH MY GOD!
When I heard it, I let out a shriek. That is perfect.
I still don’t hear it.
THUR'S A SNEK IN MAH BOOT
Yeah, I wanted to go for a slightly less obvious joke comment.
THERES A SNAKE IN MY B0Ø0B (nyeh-he-he >w
Back in the mid-late 90's, my friends and I used to go to the rollerblading rink on the other side of town every weekend, and Cotton Eyed Joe would be played at least five or six times everytime we were there from the pit dj as they called it. This was the place to be back then. I mean it was as the 90's as you could get with rollerblading, the music, Mortal Kombat 3, The Simpsons, Final Fight in the arcade area, trading pokemon cards in the cafe area and more, but as much as it drives me nuts now, this song always reminds me of that place. It broke our hearts when it was torn down once rollerblading popularity started to drop off in the 2000's, and an office building was put up in its place. I sure do miss those days. Just turned 35 man time flies.
YEE
and I *can't* stress this enough,
AAYEEEAAAHH
Where did you come from WARIO
Blast beats on Cottoneye Joe. Never thought I'd see the day.
We also need a Cottoneyed Wario song.
Where did this song come from and wherever did it go? This brings back so many memories.
A Swedish band, that was a kind of one hit wonder :)
Seems like they still exists btw rednexmusic.com/
Please also listen to their song Wild n Free. Such a bop
Thx so much for sharing this to us! It is so fun to see you happy!
In the end of the clip, the drummer should have done a cymbal clash instead of a cymbal ding-ding. It would make sense.
I love your channel. You inspired me to start playing drums!

After hearing the Wario and Jerrod going crazy with the Wario laugh in the next chorus, I want a version of this that's Wario singing along.
Classic!
Yes
Youre so enthusiastic and talented, you deserve more subs
Cotten-Eyed Joe came from an unknown location to steal someone's girlfriend and then ride off into the sunset to escape to another unknown location
Sam-I-Am came from an unknown location to force a guy to eat eggs and ham with green food colouring in a variety of places and situations that people usually don't eat eggs and ham in
I was just listening to the Frog Leap Studios version of this song when I got the notification, so this was good timing
I always miss these :(
this is epic
You got great drumming talent
I didn't even know I needed this right now.

Bravo bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Ahh, I’ve managed to play this with my cousin so many times to get my grandma to permanently ban us from playing this song in her house. It still stands lol, but we’ve never really cared.
1:28, that banjo gives me nostalgia for the game Blast Crops on the 64. Game has great music.
This is a good thing to wake up from a nightmare from :)
Reminds me of my freshman year in highschool. Was in band and we had a 2hr bus ride to the football game that week. My friend and I kept jamming this song lol became a bit of an inside joke.
I love this song so much I've listened to this since I was a child
