Not a generator, but I forgot to plug in my Kenworth last night. I woke up and went outside this morning, and it was -3°F.
The engine is a C-15 CAT, which starts first try, every time, as long as the fuel is liquid...
Running it that cold is both entertaining, and gut wrenching.
It doesn't know what cylinder it wants to fire on due to surging each time it fires, therefore it misses the next couple cylinders before hitting again, sounding like a 600 HP Chevy 283 while spewing a mist of raw fuel out the stack. You could dance to the exhaust noise for the first couple minutes... "Belump belump belump belumpumpumpump Belump belump belump belumpumpumpump".
