i shit you not the only thing stopping me from playing rust was the combat. it was just so discouraging to feel helpless against people who’ve got like 8k hours practicing spray patterns.
I spent about a half hour on a free for all gun game server last night on Staging branch, and so far I am loving the new recoil pattern, and I'm laughing at all the OGs bitching about how 'Facepunch ruined the game for us!' 🤣🤣
all you veterans saying that this is a terrible update but the recoil prim locked me every wipe, i’m glad they’re making it to where you don’t have to practice for hundreds of hours to compete w ppl in pvp
not gatekeeping the game but the stuff that made this game unique is just gone like that, a gritty harsh hardcore survival game where only the strong survive, the game is supposed to be hard, it’s not supposed to easy and the new features make the game less unique like hitmarkers and crosshairs, and the gun sounds are terrible, they sound like every other game now

this update fucked my rust. used to get 100fps regularly on medium settings and now its just fucked, getting 50 fps most of the time. using less than 50% of my CPU and GPU but using 100% of my RAM constantly. 16gb isn't enough for the minimum settings anymore
New gun is literally just a buffed AK in every aspect. More damage, pretty much the same accuracy, lower recoil, higher range and fire rate, more magazine capacity. It's also cheaper. There's literally no point in going for ak other than faster zoom speed for quick action.
Really hate the fact they changed the combat so much. Makes the game easier. Also does encourage ppl who havent played in a while or at all to pick it up. Still though, the easier recoil will make good players even better due to the recoil being easier. Im very mixed.
Good now all these fkn no life’s who exclusively play rust for 22 hours a day have jack shit to show for all their “hard work”. Encourages new players and returning players
Them chasing combat allows more people to play rust. If a large group of people already mastered the old guns they aren’t really affected with the change. The way it hurts them is that more people will be able to actually compete now. For those people who legitimately couldn’t get any better can now have a chance
Yeah but it equals out think a basketball game being 5-0 and both teams score 5 points now 10-5 nothing changes more points but there still winning by 5 that’s my opinion on it I’ll definitely try it out
The crosshairs is fine because you could always just use some third party one but I don’t like the gun sounds like the thompson one it feels choppy and there was already hit detection (audio)
you'll get used to it in no time, when csgo changed their gun sounds everybody hated them but when you look back on them the new ones sound so much better
I recently bought rust from the summer sale, and I'm actually quite sad that they removed recoil patterns, as I actually had a fun time learning them in cs, and enjoy the little challenge they give

The game is very old, they want new players to join. Making the game easier is a good thing, idk why you view that as a bad thing. People who have mastered recoil will just have more competition. Making the game more accessible is a fantastic change
0:31 the recoil patterns did NOT become easier to learn, they became almost impossible to learn. it's just that it seems easier because they strafe left and right less dramatically. (except for the AK of course) also they added a randomization so no 2 sprays with the same gun will be the same as if we didn't have enough aim cone.

The new sounds are a downgrade. Most of them sound more like helicopter blades.
Not sure about the new gun sounds they sound bad.
