  • East Sepik Provincial Member, Allan Bird says the people of PNG want Prime Minister, James Marape to step down. He continued that the members of the Parliamentary Opposition has no personal issues with him.
However, PM Marape said earlier that he would not resign from the office, calling on his contender to beat him on the floor of Parliament through the Vote-of-No-Confidence.

This country has more loans to repay from previous and current Government borrowings that it make essential government services hard to provide promptly. It takes a brave man to bear with this kinds of pressures and burdens to carry PNG through these tough times. PMJM is a brave man to date. How are you guys going to tackle this situation? Are you going to print more money overnight to repay these loans and set us free? Tell us how the new Government is going to set us free from this hiden liability? Are you going to sell your wives to bring in the much needed money into this country? Or are you going to hunt down all those who have illegally gotten money from this country and use it to repay most of our stupid loans? Tell us what you intend to do to set us free? Thank you. God bless you all.

The opposition must not generalize and use the people of PNG as an excuse or reason to change the Prime Minister and the government because the fact is that people are divided in their views. This government is a responsible government as per its policies, visions, and focus. The current situation, such as inflation, is not the making of the government. It's been influenced by global causes, thus affecting our economy. How many times will the reasons for our current situation be told in Parliament during question time and ministerial statements? The opposition have not even put out their policies, visions, and focus to solve or rectify the current situation and yet want to change a legitimate government through the VoNC. The people of PNG are not foolish like them. Why aren't they commanding the numbers on the floor to change the government?
