This was a lot of fun! Funny thing- I discovered Zach's channel through viewing a listing for an A7Siii he was selling on eBay. Judging by his seller icon, I assumed he was a CZcamsr, so I looked him up.
You guys are spot on with the personality thing! I've played 2 video games in my life but the second Zach mentioned cinematic gaming content my ears perked up because I enjoy watching people show their personalities and interests, especially if it's visually pleasing. Good looking video with genuine personality on display about a topic/niche I don't care about? I'm in! Watching side by side high ISO comparisons and lens reviews with pictures of brick walls and lens charts? Kill me.
Accepting what you have even if it’s not the greatest thing out there. It’s seeing the beauty and freedom in that. The marketing team wants you want what they tell you to want. Sometimes old is gold ❤
I'm only at 17:30 during your discussion of the importance of being an actual human and having a personality. I'm hear to say, I'm sure many people found both of you (like I did) watching gear reviews, but truthfully its not why people stayed. From day one both of you cut through the BS and were a joy to watch. Easily two of my fave people on this platform. I'd watch either of you bake a tuna casserole if suddenly that was your passion, and I think at this point there is a big chunk of your audience that will come with you whatever kind of videos you want to make. That said, can you review the G9ii? ... jk
One thing that doesn't get covered a lot in the CZcams/content creator world is that all this evolution and affordability of gear made us all solo shooters. Because we could. But I think filmmaking, and more largely creativity, needs collaboration. I do have ideas alone, but never is my brain more creative and active than when I'm sharing with someone. We don't need more gear, we need more creative friends ;)
They would be a great addition to the Golden Hour Podcast! It doesn't have to be with the four of you every week, but more of a role between the four of you. Just saying😉
I stopped caring about gear reviews. You nailed it here. All the gear is good enough now. I'd rather learn theory and better my skill. Only reviewer I still stop everything I'm doing and watch is Phillip Bloom. He doesn't care about upload time. He only makes two or so reviews a year. Always a visual treat watching his videos. Leaves me motivated. Otherwise, I could care less about content on the latest gear.
This lil chat kinda embodied how I am with consuming content. I unfollowed and unsubscribed to a lot of legacy creators because… it doesn’t motivate me to create.

That was very good chat, man I have a fuji xt4, 18-55 kit lens, sigma art 18-35 and a cheap 35mm 7 artisan I also have a mac book pro 2023 and a few tube lights, but in my mind isn't enough to go out and make my first doc, I'm getting sick because of this gear consumer culture, 😂 I would like to own a cinema camera, aputure lights, gimbals etc, but honestly it isn't necessary to deliver something good, easier it gets harder we try to make it look like!!
Loved this talk, right on it with the aurofocus thing. Thats all I need too. Just want the autofocus to work and I'll buy it. Sony has it but I have zero sony lenses. Just invested in L-mount lenses, so if panasonic fixes the hunting issue I'm 100% on the S5IIX, and in cubeform or something with a handle indeed:-)
what really bothers me is, does Blackmagic get all these reviews and request to make all the changes or they do but just don't care? they should look at Panasonic cameras that refused to listen to people on changing their Autofocus system, now that they did, Lumix cameras are rising like shooting stars, does Blackmagic learn from this?

Not gonna lie you as a creator yourself at least in my opinion bring your audience more because of the personality love your content been a subscriber over the years and yes the creativity & topics you discuss and your style of filming is dope af, but that’s everywhere definitely wouldn’t have kept up with your content if it wasn’t for the personality in your vids keep up the great work brotha 🎥🎥🙏🖥️📸💻

What was a premium compact camera that was primarily focused on photography is now a capable video camera for those who want a premium compact hybrid. Obviously it's not going up against the Sony, Lumix and others but the sheer amount of popularity that the X100 cameras have and the inevitable high number of people who will own it, we will start seeing more short amateur films on CZcams made with the X100VI.
@@sloppysteaksyes it is pricey or that you and I have 20+ other cameras to recommend for movie making yet it’s likely going to be 2024’s best selling camera. It appeals to a different new set of audience away from the old traditional Canon Sony Nikon. When a large number of users have a device that has capable video making features (like iPhone), we’re bound to see more contents from a such device.

It’s still over 2 grand. I can 20+ better camera to shoot a movie with than that. I’d rather shoot on an iPhone.
