    This is a great video showing closeup how to fix this issue. With the oil drained it is clear to see what you're doing. Personally, I won't drain the oil to save myself the hassle. Thanks for the great video!

    holy mackerel, I was all in until the gasket monster showed up.😂 and btw.. lots of videos showing this rebuild but nobody actually shows you what the bad part was, or worn part, if not the gear teeth.

    You forgot to tell them about the correct orientation of ratchet gear on the bottom side of the plastic gear. These are not always on the gear when shipped.
    The flange side is not touching the gear. And make sure the spring clip that is holding tension on it is lined up correctly.

    It appears that the transmission is salvageable only if the large plastic spin gear and neutral drain switch need replacement? If any of the metal components are bad, then better to totally replace the transmission is what I am getting here.

    Appliance Man or Angel. Not so much gasket is needed. The two surfaces mate and there is less lan a human hairs space in between. A thin line applied around and inboard of bolt holes is plenty. Excess can end up inside transmission with oil.

    IF the neutral drain causes spin while draining, can you tell me what goes bad amongst the neutral drain components?
    One of the plastic/cylinders pawls? Worn washer that fits on top of the big gear?
    Have any videos shows neutral drain in action?

    • @captain150
      @captain150 Před 2 lety +4

      On the underside of the big nylon gear, there is a little bump on one of the drain catches. This bump is used to trip the spring loaded arm during agitation to "set" the parts up for neutral draining. Either that bump on the gear or the spring loaded arm wear out so that the arm no longer gets set during agitation. You likely won't notice anything wrong with the naked eye. Easiest thing is to replace the whole kit.

      @@captain150 sounds like very likely culprits, being that those parts you're referring to are made of plastic.

    Angel. Would overtightening the prawl stud stop the neutral drain from resetting? I replaced my neutral drain and now the washer sometimes goes right into spin while draining. Is it possible I got a defective neutral drain kit? It seems to work fine when I test it (I have a bypass for the pressure switch and the lid switch) with no clothes or water. I'm thinking maybe it's a bit slower with a load and the friction from the sprawl stud is not allowing the rack retainer to move freely and create enough centrifugal force the swing the latch so it can grab the spin gear cam.

    • @joeKisonue
      @joeKisonue Před rokem

      The plate mounting bolt/stud holds the plate down. Overtightening might break it. The Pawl Studs are just pivot points and that shouldn't be a point of difficulty. Maybe the pawl spring wasn't positioned right on one or one piece wasn't put in correctly?

    • @joeKisonue
      @joeKisonue Před rokem

      Also I read that the large white gear has a wearable area responsible for resetting the catch. It gets worn down and ideally you would replace gear when doing this rebuild.
