  • Hi, I'm Korok! This vlog covers days 55-59 of my 2024 Appalachian Trail thru hike. We left Woods Hole Hostel near Pearisburg but an unexpected stop and closure of part of the trail had us making new plans

    It is beautiful boy try side up by juries garden by bland and in that pearisburg area. I can see why omish,Mennonite and Quakers choose to establish their farming communities in those beautiful valleys.
    This past Saturday and Sunday I was up by bears den hostel off rt42 doing trail magic for my new military thru hiked buddies Jeremy baugh,splinter and tumble. Also camped out with them and Lynx Sunday night from the top of juries garden rd at the chestnut ridge line trail head. That Monday morning maybe half mile from that trail head a small bear came crashing off the hillside in front of my truck!

    Love your vlog! I’ve been watching since you started! If Tribute isn’t taking a multivitamin that might help his leg… I know it sounds weird but when I was marathon training one year I had what felt like a muscle tear and constant knot in my calf, but turned out I was low on magnesium and potassium and just needed to stretch my calves better. Also, heads up… it is unseasonably warm in Northern Virginia this April and the rattlesnakes are out and about in the Shenendoah National Park… I almost stepped on a Timber Rattler yesterday on the AT just south of Pinnacles Picnic Area in SNP. Safe travels!❤

      His leg seems to be doing better now but we'll keep that in mind for the future, thank you! Can't wait to dodge those snakes now 🥲

    Hard to tell because the sound is distorted, but seems more like a griping squirrel than a bird.

    A great lesson in learning to roll with the flow. So sweet seeing your Mom run toward you! Glad you had a great visit. Hope Tributes leg is doing well. All the best to you two!

    Was the bird sound a turkey vulture?

    Love your content. You got a bird song app, Merlin? but never told us what it was or I missed it. Feel free to use it, record a bird and tell us what it says. You ask about a sound at the start of this video. I would say Crows but that seems too simple and you would know it? One last idea. Hard to read your white text. it is great but comes on so fast and is hard to read and is gone so that I have to rewind to read. Make it bigger? Make it a different color? Put it higher on screen? Onward!

    I love the Triple Crown area.
    Then you are out of my corner of Virginia
    Obtw...totally agree...a blizzard @ DQ!😊

      Seems to be doing alright lately, thanks! 🙂 I hope it wasn't the blizzard that sent his leg into a shock 😅

    I remember the climb to Bailey’s Gap shelter… it was steep!

    • @hikethroughthis

      And the fact that the water source before the shelter required you to go a good chunk of the way back downhill. The pain 🥲

      Has tribute changed his shoes recently? When I was trying to hike in a zero drop shoe I had terrible calf pain . it took me weeks to realize what was causing it.

    Glad you won't miss the continental divide area. I'm curious to see your vlog for that section only because I did from Keffer Oak to before Dragon's Tooth on a section hike and was surprised by the ledges. Just didn't think it would be that sketchy. Then the weather got really bad and I wasn't able to do Dragon's Tooth. You don't want to be doing that in the rain...you guys are awesome and kicking butt!!

      @hikethroughthis  Před měsícem

      Oh no, it's a shame you missed it! But yes, safety first - I definitely wouldn't do it in the rain

    Electrolytes?

    • @tangara7166
      @tangara7166 Před měsícem

      Yes, this can be a problem, especially in the heat. They make packets that you can put in water. Suppliers asking the task should have them.
