Yes, I saw them both (Bowie in Paris and The Smiths in Versailles), and I was dragged nearly by force to see Bowie live, and I DO NOT regret it, not any day!! Bowie was an old guy then, but when he did good old songs (like Lady Stardust) it was just… unforgettable! (same kind of feeling as here, when SPM sings "How soon is now"… or "Half a Person").
Morrissey incredibly maintains his voice intact. Considering other artists of the 80s that lost their vocal ability, he is one of those that really keeps the rock rolling. He still does not know what drugs are! S2
His voice is not only intact, it has improved considerably in comparison to the 80s. He sings with much more comfort and confidence than in the early days. The man is an absolute class act !
I remember him talking about trying prozac for his depression, but it didn’t work for him. He said that depression just lessened as he got older, at a gig of his at Brixton, years ago. I reckon that’s the only drug he’s tried! Interestingly, a girl who was my student and I got friendly with, comes from Manchester, and went to most of The Smiths early gigs. She said he had a large female following, and she got the impression that he was no angel!
Yes, Pierre Giles, I know! I was being somewhat facetious! I know what you mean, I can hardly imagine Moz with a blunt hanging out of his mouth 😆 I was using prozac as an example of how innocent he appears, but do we really know? As illustrated by my mate's impression of him enjoying the company of girls in the early days
In his autobiography, he said at school he was not interested in girls. When his buddy told him why they were milling about him, he had even less interest.
jYEhS Joe, (MORE IS) HE is the GOATyest of ALL GOATS and I think that it is about time He come join Me on My side of the barn yard and I WILL HAVE HIM!!!
I reckon it's because of his lifestyle. He's never been into drugs, or excessive alcohol. He also doesn't smoke. I'm not being judgemental of the bands that do live this lifestyle, I like/love many artists that have lived like this, but it destroys your health, but they have a place, and many are musical geniuses, ie. Lou Reed and The Velvets. Moz has jiust never been interested, and now it shows. Johnny is also a guitar genius, but when he states The Smiths were his band, and he never mentions Moz, it's a bit cheeky!! They really do need to bury the hatchet, both of them. It's been a long time!
@@brightstar1212 interesting! So it's clean living. I can settle the Johnny vs Moz debate very quickly. Try this exercise: Name five Johnny Marr songs not featuring Morrissey...Okay, name three...Okay fine, just name one... Meanwhile Morrissey obviously wrote a ton of great songs (mostly with boz) that are quite frankly on par with the Smiths. And that's the brutal truth that I feel bad pointing out. I actually love Johnny's guitar playing. But this debate is settled.

Alain Whyte (standing in for Boz Boorer) is back on guitar and backing vocals....he hadn't played live with Moz since about 2004 before last year's (2021) Ceasar's Palace shows. His presence might be part of the reason for the high percentage of songs from the 80's-90's in the setlist.
