    I wrote my thesis on Schiele. Such a tragic, romantic man. His self portraiture was Dorian Gray in reverse. The more beautiful he became, the more grotesque his self portraits became.
    And his love of Wally and the magnum opus their love inspired upon him marriage to Edith was prophetic in the end.

      Thanks for watching ! I try to do a different artist every month but I sometimes revisit some of them… maybe in the future?

    I love how bold your first layer of colors is. Schiele had such a new take on watercolor !

      Thanks! Yes, he was very daring for the skin tones: green, orange, blue! ❤️ thanks for watching!

    THIS IS SO EXCITING, I just started painting this year and Egon Schieles work has inspired me as well as this GEM of a channel. Loved the Mogaladini video as well. Your videos fill a void on youtube trust me, thank you so much. I have this video saved so I can try again when I have more basic skills down. This may be the first channel I have put bell notifications on for.

      Thanks a lot! To be honest, I usually look at existing paintings/sketches, do my research, draft a 7 steps plan and try to trust the process. In some cases, I am surprised by how it turns out. This is one of these times!

      Thanks for your kind words! I only paint on week ends too, you know! Ok, sometimes on weekdays evenings too… my kids are big now but I do have a full time job too. I try to paint when I can (which explains why I only do one style video a month). 😋

    Can we have a Samuel Mutzner tutorial?

    • @mygeekfamilycotton
      @mygeekfamilycotton Před rokem +2

      Mützner was a great painter but he signed some painting done by his wife and some of his students, it is therefore difficult to know which is which… but I will keep him in mind! Thanks!

    lol.....good luck.....7 steps is too long for me....can't you make it 2 or 3 steps?

    • @mygeekfamilycotton
      @mygeekfamilycotton Před 7 měsíci +1

      😂😂😂 it’s like cutting a pizza in 6 or 8 slices: it’s still the same amount of pizza! Seriously, I use 7 steps because it allows for a good breakdown of the techniques. But feel free to skip, invert, pass on any step you like (or don’t like). You are the master on your canvas!

      @@mygeekfamilycotton my girlfriend who is an artist with a solo show here in NYC is crazy about Egon. Her favorite artist. She says his line is the most exquisite of any painter she has ever seen. She can hardly look at his paintings. She just gives them a quick glance and then looks away. She also feels that in a previous life she was in Austria at the early part of the 20th century and was an artist
