    I'm extremely happy with how I played these two duels. After the Heishin duel I basically figured I wouldn't have enough time. The seto duel confirmed this, but I kept trying anyways, and came VERY close. With what my deck was, this run went so far. Thanks to all who were around for it FrankerZ/
    FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT KNOW: The reason behind not attacking the strong cards on the field, like Gate Guardian, is because I had them 'magic locked'. This means by keeping these stronger monsters alive, the AI thinks they are in control of the duel so they do not play magics, like Shadow Spell or Raigeki. I use this to my advantage in order to try to chip away at their lifepoints and win. For more information on this manipulation relating to magics, check my other CZcams video titled "AI Manipulation" or something to that nature. -- Watch live at / gfc_

      There's a technical reason called magic locking. Without getting into the specifics of how or why it works, basically, in this particular situation, keeping the Gate Guardian alive was keeping Seto 3rd from playing magics like Raigeki against me.
      The moment I killed that Gate Guardian, I would've lost from a Raigeki being played.
      I plan on releasing a video soon explaining how magic locking works well. I do have a video that explains it, but it's super old and shitty.

So, by putting THTD in defense position, the AI would check off the Spells, then attack with Gate Guardian, then end his turn without using them still, giving GFC the chance to counterattack and win in 1 turn so the Spells never get used. It'd be a risky move (Seto could draw something else that could attack over THTD's defense. Heck, considering Seto's LP, in order to win in 1 turn it'd have to be a turn where Seto sets a Spell so that Widespread would leave his field wide open), but it was his only chance.

    Good go though 👍 I know you was trying to prevent magic cards but there was some turns where all he had on the field was gate guardian and at that point I think putting one trap down and destroying gate guardian would have kept you safe since he would either summon or play harpies feather duster or raigeki but he couldn’t do all 3 so even if you lost your thunder dragon you’d still have defence to attack next turn while there weren’t traps left. It’s obviously risky but these last duels in the game you have to use everything you can to get through

    • @GFC_FM
      @GFC_FM  Před rokem +1

      Because of something called Magic Lock, I wouldn't had won. The moment I killed the Gate Guardian, magic lock would've been broken and then he would've started spamming magics (definitely Raigeki) on me.
      Basically, without going on a super long explanation, I kept that Gate Guardian alive to do something called Magic Lock, which basically makes it so the AI is unable to play most magic cards. If I killed it, it would've been broken and I'd be dead. That's why I had to chip away until I could win in 1 turn, because otherwise I'd be dead if I let him have a single turn without the Gate Guardian.

    • @GFC_FM
      @GFC_FM  Před rokem +1

      At the time of this video I believe I had been speedrunning this game for maybe 3 years, today its been close to a decade (and I'm still actively running the game), and I have looked at this duel multiple times over the years and, while I do find a few tiny decisions that I personally, today, would've done differently, none of them would've given me a significantly better shot at winning.
      This game has been ripped apart, we know exactly how the AI works, and the plays you see me make in this video, for the most part anyway, all have a purpose behind them.
      Really interesting game to learn all the tech for, would recommend looking into some of the more technical stuff like magic lock, it's fascinating

      @@GFC_FM Ah I see, guess I would have been screwed then if I was in that match, so basically the AI behaves differently if it detects its losing but relaxes and is less aggressive when it feels safe more or less?

    • @GFC_FM
      @GFC_FM  Před rokem +3

      @@runawaycat4594 In a way, yes. Basically the way magic locking works is that, for whatever reason, the AI doesn't see equips on your monsters at the beginning of their turn.
      The AI, at the beginning of their turn, makes a decision of whether or not to play magics. This decision basically is determined by whether or not their strongest monster on the field is stronger than your strongest monster on the field.
      BUT, remember, they DON'T SEE EQUIPS.
      So, in this example, I had a Twin headed (base atk 2800), with 2 equips on it, bringing it to 3800.
      The AI had a Gate Guardian, base atk 3750.
      The AI thought "Okay, he has a twin headed out. The BASE attack is 2800 (remember, it doesn't see those equips). I have a Gate Guardian out, that's stronger at 3750. Therefore, I am in CONTROL of the duel and I WILL NOT play magics."
      Now, in this case, I believe the field was Umi as well. The AI /DOES/ see field bonuses. So the AI would now see my THTD as a 3300 base atk monster. Still weaker than his Gate Guardian, so magic lock still happened.
      However, let's say I killed that Gate Guardian, and then he only had a, for example, Blue Eyes White Dragon out.
      Now, he thinks "He has a 3300 base attack THTD out, I only have a 3000 base atk Blue Eyes out. I am NOT in control of the duel, time to play every magic I can to get control!"
      So, by keeping that Gate Guardian alive, I was ensuring he would always THINK he's in control of the duel, even though he wasn't, thus making him not play magics.

Then hope he didn't summon a monster with more than 3300 ATK to kill you when attacking your Judge (leaving you with at least 50 LP). Then kill his last monster with your Thunder Dragon making at least 500 LP damage (since he's got 3800 ATK and to survive you needed Seto's last summoned monster to have max 3300 ATK to survive when he attacked your Judge) and finishing him with Zombie Dragon for the remaining 1400 LP or less. But "lots of chances" I don't see.
      Youre probably implying I should've just killed the Gate Guardian and went full in attacking, right?
      There was a reason I was keeping that Gate Guardian alive. Killing it at basically any point in that duel would result in basically an instant loss due to breaking the magic lock and getting Raigeki'd.
      Only 2 options I had were to either try to lower his LP enough to kill him the same exact turn I kill the GG, or try a widespread bait move. I went with option 1 then, would've probably went with option 2 today, but I promise there weren't "lots of chances" lol.

      You have no idea what you're talking about. Facedowns don't mean anything at all in this section of the game. Heishin and Seto 3rd see what your cards are 100% of the time, even if they're face down. So playing cards face down means absolutely nothing.
      You clearly have no idea what you're talking about, and your comment has done nothing but make a fool of yourself. Congratulations.

      I didn't deserve to lose. It's called Magic Locking. By not attacking certain monsters, you can prevent the enemy from using magics (like Raigeki) against you.
      Had I attacked, I would've had an almost 100% chance of losing immediately afterwards.

      @@GFC_FM actually no. you sacrificed monsters several times with no return. so if you had laid your trap you could have attacked the gg pretty much risk free. and even attacking it with a risk is better than losing for certain. you were dicking around with 5 cards in your deck.... had you attacked in the beginning then you wouldnt have eaten so many -1000 either, or it wouldnt have mattered anymore.
      ive beaten seto 3 many many times and leaving him a strong monster is never a good battleplan.

      @@dervakommtvonhinten517 If you really had any knowledge about this game you would know that the only magics seto 3 has are raigeki, shadow spell, and harpie's feather duster. He had used 3 shadow spells already and can't have more. Leaving just duster and raigeki. Raigeki instantly kills him unless he goes wall shadow or metal guardian. Duster will eat every widespread he plays. If he had went with your line of just killing the gate guardian he loses instantly in all likelihood unless every card facedown on seto's side is a feather duster. He played it exactly as he should have in that situation and to boot he has put in way more hours into this game then you ever will.

      @@dstreetz91 thats a really stupid line to end your argument with: a) you dont know how many hours he has put into the game, b) you dont know how many hours i have put into the game, c) you cant tell the future.
      and if it is true that he has no other spells, then why not attack with his first dhtd? it either would have cleared the trap card and died, or killed the metal zoa. this way it died without accomplishing anything.
      and speedrunning the game without a) a bunch of pump spells and or b) skull knight is just inefficient. so keep your fanboy juices in check and craft a good argument without stupid taunts in the end....

      @@dervakommtvonhinten517 He had a trap out and the only trap seto 3 plays is widespread ruin so if he attacks his 3300 thtd into metalzoa it gets eaten by widespread, seto plays a gate guardian and kills him immediately as he can't tank a hit from a 3750 and 2500 monster. To get skull knight you need to farm meadow mage, who is difficult to sa pow unless your deck is already really good as sogen + millenium shield is only getting beaten by double equip, megamorph, or umi and on top of that nobody farms him for skull knight specifically, they do it for MBD who can beat a lot of the final 6 but still requires you to draw it to do anything as a single card in your deck. If he had killed the gate guardian with his THTD he loses immediately to raigeki the next turn + a direct attack as he can't defend himself with widespread ruin when seto will duster any widespread ruin he plays immediately. There was no way for him to win that duel besides doing effective attacks on monsters that seto played to kill his weak ones, it just so happened that seto played a whopping 5 magic cards effectively wasting 5 turns/not taking damage on those turns at all effectively sitting behind his gate guardian.

      MrBigbrownies Keyword is developed, not released. Quite likely this began development either directly before or at the exact same time as TCG. The point is that, when this game existed, there was no standard rule set. So saying that this isn't real yugioh is objectively wrong. Back then, when this game was thought of and developed, this was yugioh.
