Do you know how far the supposedly spot it locks to? I've seen videos of people circling their target but how far is the target? What if it's only 5' away or 10' or 25'... no one has a definitive answer, do you by cjance know?

It locks on to the direction it’s pointed to. Then it will stay pointed in that direction within a few feet give or take as you move around. It’s like spot lock for your transducer but your just telling it to stay looking in one direction. So it’s not so much the object in the water as it is the direction to that object that your trying to get. Also if the calibration of the unit it’s connected is not done properly then you will have a bigger margin of error on how it stays centered on the target. Hope this helps. If you have anymore questions let me know!

So then if I'm fishing a tree that is 20' away, I can't circle the tree with lock on?

Wow that’s the first I’ve heard. I’ve not had an issue with it all. Haven’t noticed a difference actually. It weighs 6lbs. I guess for some that could be a struggle when trying to lift the trolling motor with a few extra lbs on it

It’s heavier than normal. It’s like pulling it up like the old style maxxums without the piston assist. They do make a bracket now that has a heavier duty piston. Of course it’s an extra $450 and you need to install it yourself
