  • This is part 2 of a 5 part series on Notebooking. For more information on different types of notebooking, be sure to go to bit.ly/TNvZnU where I have provided many links and other helpful tips about these and other forms of notebooking projects.. During this video, I referred to a composition notebook as a steno notebook. It is, in fact, a composition notebook.

I really like how you point out it is not only ok but a form of review to use the same notebook for a succession of years, rather than using a fresh one each year

I am so enjoying this content on notebooking. Thank you so much. I am a grandmother to a 20 month old. My son has decided that he wants him to speak French and that I am to teach him. This is a huge learning curve for me as I have not spoken French for 40 years. This notebooking is helping me with my French as well which is an entirely unexpected turn of events. As my grandson is too young to write in his notebook, I am writing for him. Excellent practice for me too! I just want to thank you, this notebooking has been a HUGE hit for my grandson. He wanders around the house showing it to his parents pointing to his name in big bright letters and then to himself. We only just started last week (I only get him once a week to babysit, every second is precious). We have only created one page so far with his some of his favourite things and he gets me to read it over and over (looks like I am going to have to improve my writing skills as well lol!). This is just an excellent channel, I am so glad I found you.

Thank you for being so encouraging. Life is hard right now with a 2 year old and a 4 year old who just isn't interested in learning his letters or how to count.

That was extremely informative. Before checking out your video I had been very much overwhelmed with the thought of notebooking with my new 7 yr old homeschooler. Now I have a pretty good understanding of their purpose and benefit. Thanks bunches Jamie. Be blessed.

Great Video. I find it so refreshing that you show notebooking created by your kids and NOT all the pre-made notebooks and lapbooks. I love the creativity that you get when your kids are responsible for their own pages. Some of them are a hoot. My son dissected a flower and glued in all the chunks and labeled them. It was great and I was so glad that it didn't mold :) I had two children that embraced notebooking and now I have two that aren't so excited. I might try and let them type some of their writing.

Yes. I love it when kids have the freedom to create their OWN thing and not have to fill in someone else's blank.

I absolutely enjoyed this video! My kids enjoy lapbooking. You've given me some Great ideas about different types of notebooking we can implement in our home this school year.

This is fantastic! I do some notebooking and lapbooking. We also keep everything they do in a binder. I love how you do the journaling with creative writing! I wish I would have seen this when my big kids were little. I think I will impliment more of these ideas more consistently with my little ones. I would really like to do an alphabet book with my preschooler! Thank you for the great ideas! I am inspired!♡

Seeing these huge fancy lap books makes me feel nervous and overwhelmed but when you break it down to "this is just a little booklet about ____" and you can save it and everything else in a topic in a folder and put it together later, it makes it seem so muchore doable. I really love that your kids collaborated on those Egyptian cards and also the bird book is a great idea. I have young ones but I think I'm going to start the nature journals. As far as the alphabet book, is there a place you found your ideas for which materials to use on each letter? Some letters seem a little difficult to come up with materials that would not rot and would be used as a nice keepsake for an alphabet book.

+ShayJ337 I almost always give them a story starter sentence. I either make one up or use a story starter resource. You can go to this blog post and find several. www.theunlikelyhomeschool.com/2015/04/ultimate-guide-to-creative-writing-for.html
