My Great grandfather was a CSA engineer And many of my uncles were engineer at a Very large Foundry that was open 103 years all of which A family member was a engineer there. My cousin has all their pocket watches now issue to them, As a child I got to ride in the caboose on some short trips and was the coolest ride ever! in the 60 They allowed it if we didn't cause problems . It was like tje coolest club house ever! They had everything! It it was all heavy duty gear! I loved riding in the Cupola but we had to switch side in long turn so the Staff could look down the train. I got really good at jumping side to side an if we came to crossing I had to lean back and pull My big RR cap down. When out of town I got a full Run of the caboose and the made lunches for us in the Kitchen area. As much as I wanted to wave at people, I couldn't. But it was a very cool day each time I go to go along! Thanks for posting this!
That is great to hear that your family has such a wonderful history and your memories of riding in the caboose makes it even better for me to hear...thanks for watching..your friend Chris
ChrisTheHobbyGuy Could only happen in the 60's! Today if they ever did, CNN would attack the crew and make it an incident of child abuse. I grew up helping get, and light Flares, and Fill Train Lanterns! Kids now days, just learn to thumb phones and mouth off at that age!
I really appreciate you making this video and sharing it with us! When I was growing up the most exciting thing was waiting for then seeing the caboose at the end of the train. I have some railroad silver that was left by my grandmother who's father worked on the passenger trains. None of it is collectible I don't think..and much of it shows much use. All was plated, so not worth money unless someone were interested in trains. I think it would be great to take a train ride, but that time for me to do that has passed health wise.
I want to thank you for the wonderful comment because I appreciate it very much. I also love trains and happy to share the video with people who enjoy trains as much as I do. May God bless you, your friend Chris
If you ever come to Sausalito, California there is a houseboat made out of an SP caboose at Waldo Point Harbor on Liberty Dock. Private property and don t bother the residents but it is fun to look at.
That is great. I just met a man named Adrian Esque who built his own railroad. He has three steam and diesel engines, five cabooses a depot. Two switch backs and a mile of track. He is amazing and the trains are from the early 1900s. Wandering Rick
Seen a number of these wagons on peoples video's but never the interior, so thanks very much for sharing on CZcams and thanks to ''eaglevp'' for sending me the link
Very nice to meet you....thank you very much for watching....and please tell our wonderful friend Keith that Chris sand Lisa said hello and thank you for sharing our video...your friends Chris and Lisa

Gary that is great you met Fred. I love old trains I visit the Train Museum in Lancaster every summer and take a ride on the old Trains at the Strasburg Train Station. You can also have dinner on the moving Train, and my kids always love it...your friend Chris
Thats is very good Chris... I did went on Train trip from McAdam New Brunswick to St Stephen New Brunswick and back many times and McAdam New Brunswick to Saint John New Brunswick afew times inside of Locomotive!!!
CAPTAIN WELLS PILOT AND FIREFIGHTER because they are already on the top of the car in front of it so it’s easier to just continue walking along the top to the brake end of the caboose
Wow! You're explaining way better that all the rail history specialist! Thanks a lot!!
Glad you liked it!
I had no idea there was a dedicated caboose museum, my favorite rail car, within my geographic reach no less! I must go.

this is one of the best caboose interiors i’ve seen. It’s so bright and clean inside. Others are all green and they’re a little dismal.
It truly is in perfect condition and the layout is amazing
BEST caboose tour I ever had!
Thank you Michael...Fred did a great job...your friend Chris
I miss those cabooses. Retired railcars.
This guy is a Treasure!!!

How very interesting. Never knew whit it was like in a caboose. It's almost like a mobile home compared to a guards van in the UK.

I learned a lot
One of my favorite books from when I was a little kid was “The Caboose That Got Loose”.
I remember that book also I loved it as a kid.
This reminds me of the exploits of me and my wife, we travel a lot and wind up off the beaten path you'd be amazed what you find, safe travels
Hi Ronald that's the way to be just go on adventures and see new things. Have a great day

CAPTAIN WELLS PILOT AND FIREFIGHTER because they are already on the top of the car in front of it so it’s easier to just continue walking along the top to the brake end of the caboose
The music made it hard to hear the comments in the beginning.
Thank you for telling me...your friend Chris
My dad was a NS conductor don’t think they came with all those amenities.
That's great I bet he could tell you lots of wonderful stories working on the train. Thanks for watching my videos
