what is a tribe? a tribe is a social division in a traditional society consisting of families or communities linked by social, economic, religious, or blood ties, with a common culture and dialect, typically having a recognized leader.
Before a white man stepped on our land we had one language, same culture and tradition, same religion and same lifestyle,beliefs and morals,which means that....before Genocide happened there was a psychological game being played by the colonisers where by compared to what they called standards of life we were poor and illiterate... that's why they went and wrote books about us,who we are, where we come from and where we are supposed to be and they brought those books full of tribalism, segregation and false stories of division to us. We started learning from them, preaching about them and using them as a reference to define who we are ... normally our ancestors used to pass information through dances,patterns(imigongo),poetry,games, songs and"imivugo,imigani" and time by time the information became fairytales...we used to think they were just stories and we started forgetimg who we are that's why it was easy to manipulate us into the horror.... The truth is, they understood humanpsychology well that's why it took them a hundred years to achieve their devide and rule goal( they waited for our breaking point which was THE LESS INFORMED ABOUT OURSELVES WE ARE THE EASIER IT IS TO BE MANIPULATED)...our ancestors resisted the lies some killed,others sent to refugee and others called cowards for refusing to dance on the colonisers song so, the colonisers waited for the weak generation by slowly injecting the virus till it killed us... I don't think people who killed in 1994 were humans anymore... They were lab rats of wrong information, generational manipulation and they were a product of lack humanity(for generations they were fed hatred with proofs(books), tought to hate and drunk anger )... Ibaze nawe... And we're still walking in the same shoes the enemy gave us by not talking about what really happened... We were once one only having clans abasinga,abacyaba,etc... And one day"urutozi rugwa mumata" when we resisted they changed plans... They went back to their homes and brought us books that told us who we were, but the question is who are we truly? Do we even know who we are?... A stranger can't tell your story. THE BIGGEST MISTAKE WE MADE WAS WATCHING THEM TELL OUR STORRY AND WATCHING THEM DESTROY WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE BELIEVED IN. They waited for the generation that didn't know who they were and fed it lies ... May our ancestors forgive us for letting them down by letting a stranger sing our song.
And may the souls of the innocents we lost in 1994 REST IN PEACE. As we moan our loved ones let's remember"mbere y'umwaduko w'umuzungu twari umwe" we share everything a tribe shares cos we are one tribe"Abanyarwanda" let's thank God for we are alive and forgive but never forget not to revenge but to always remember that"utazi iyo ajya iyo atarangishije neza arayoba""utazi iyo Ava ntamenya iyo ajya" our parents and siblings blood would have been in vain if such a sad horror history repeats itself... We've seen what we can't unsee and it's scary if we can't grow past the horror for our grand children's sake..... Generational trauma is real and it's the last thing I want to give my children... let's be strong not for us but for those who we'll bring to this world .
