    I would have just used a hammer on the alarm. I guess that is why I watch the videos and you are on the ship. Always a pleasure to learn new things. Thanks Lecky!

    Yes it is a good idea to give out the meaning of some terminology as subtitles just like VDR (Voyage Data Recorder) // keep it up (y)

    Power cycle and everything ok? Seems that there something buggy. Hardware, firmware or cabeling/Bus-Termination . Difficult without special Can Tools and detailed knowledge about the system. But you fix it👍🤞.

  • @pierre-alexandrelemay1720

    Can we see the VDR ? How it works ? And some detail ? Thx :)

    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, When you talk about the resistance of components you test, can you always say the readings that it should be along with what you measure?
    I love your videos though, great work!😁

      what he reads is completly not important. you only need to know if its within range.

    Hi can you make a video on Telegraph, sub-telegraph and engine order signal between bridge and ECR. Order signal which actuate gov is different from indication & acknowledgement on Telegraph.

  • @lwilton
    @lwilton Před 2 lety

    After clearing the alarm, did you then walk through all the buttons to make sure that they all sent the correct signal to the engine room?

  • @CoolerQ
    @CoolerQ Před 2 lety

    Does the system use a CAN bus to communicate all the way from the bridge to the main engine? I thought CAN couldn't be used over such a long distance.

    • @michaelw4258
      @michaelw4258 Před 2 lety

      Depending on Baud rate: at 125kbit/s max 500m, at 20kbit/s 3.3km length. Can is a proven robust protocol, for this few bits no problem. You need only a twisted pair cable and so you can wire all panels.

      @heyderaliyev8976 Před 2 lety

      Nope/ you make one trip contract when you go home your contract is invalid untill you are called next time

    I’m surprised they use CAN bus for such an important piece of equipment, and not something really simple like a multi-position switch & multicore cable which any electrician can diagnose and fix…

    • @SupremeRuleroftheWorld
      @SupremeRuleroftheWorld Před 2 lety

      canbus is really robust and reliable. there are not many other protocols that are more reliable that fit this application.
