Stereotypes don’t just happen on its own. There’s a climatic point within society awareness for the stereotype to be recognized. In other words, stereotypes stemmed from a good percentage of truth. Filipinos are stereotype as good singers too. 😄

Bruhh please don’t use the term FilipinX. 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦. Our language doesn’t really use the letter X. Please leave your Western political correctness out of my culture.

I honestly NEVER heard the term FilipinX, until I saw this news video clip. I lived in Chicago for 3 decades.

As a Filipino American, I don’t have a problem with any of the harmless stereotypes. Two of my sisters are nurses. The whole family loves karaoke. So what?! It’s better than the white people stereotypes of not being able to dance and having food that lacks spices.

For countries considered poor or backward, don't listen, it's a scam. Rich countries like the US and China only became rich through the US winning WW2. And, there is no proof they would've won if not for luck. With this military might, they control people and countries making them rich. With the wealth, they buy-off countries valuable militarily. Look at the Chinese and Japanese. They don't make anything high-tech. They merely make cheap goods and cars. Cars have been around for over one hundred years. Don't you think Cambodia, the Philippines, etc. can make cars? They just have access to the US market for the military value. In the Japan's instance, the US military has major bases. For China, to isolate the old Soviet Union. On a more narrow view, China and the US only have economic growth through people they hide from the data. Why do you think Chinese from rural areas and immigrants to the US are treated as second class or even invisible. It is because it makes the US and China look more impressive technologically, etc. It's as if their citizens become more productive through improved tech or working harder. It's not the case, it's adding more second-class workers.

I agree. I had so many of them while I was in the hospital for 3 months. They were the sweetest, funniest and patient even during the pandemic. I had no idea we had so many in the Us but I’m so thankful!!

The history of the Filipino nurses started when the Philippines was an American colony. They opened the nursing school in the Philippines in 1900s with American curriculum. The filipinos were trained by the american mentors.

Yes prior to this, the Philippines ruled by Spain with very few healthcare workers because at the time, hospitals and hospices are controlled by the Catholic Church where nuns are served as nurses

Are you a nurse ? ( if they assume you are Filipino) is not derogatory as far as I am concerned. Proud Filipino nurse here. Nurses are heroes here in America. Whoever thought it is to demean is just borne out of ignorance.

Nurse stereotype isn't bad at all. Who doesn't want to be immediately assumed as a healing servant? It's basically like being called a Servant of Light.

I’ve been a nurse in since 1970. I happened to know that Filipino nurses started as OB nurses in New Jersey since 1950. Correct me if I’m wrong.
