Thanks for doing this series - I very much appreciate them. I'm learning a lot with each episode. Right now circumstances make traveling in my state in Australia...difficult. We were in (virus-induced) lockdown for several weeks, then had severe storms which resulted in me driving to a location only to find a "road closed" sign when I got there. Grrr. But...the great thing about your clips is that they're so very worthwhile, and once I'm properly mobile again, I can just re-watch them and then follow your exercises.

Olympus can make long exposure easy with a 60 second exposure in aperture priorities or LIVE TIME allowing you to see the exposure and histogram build over time. You then stop when histogram is far enough to the right. Perhaps too easy

Being only new to long exposure photography, and not necessarily a fan, you perhaps are converting me. Ive only recently bought a NISI ND-VARIO 1-5 Stops mainly for video which it seems will not be enough stops for long exposure still photography, but living on the coast of Australia I will give it a go anyway. I will experiment adding a CPL filter and maybe my cheap Newer filters but not hopeful. I love your enthusiasm and explanations. A new subscriber.

I did like the last image, but also liked the second to last, because you could still see some of the roughness in the sea, which is dramatic. Had I have been there, I would also have been tempted to try and capture some of the waves breaking over the breakwater with a faster shutter speed (not super fast) maybe just a few seconds. But that may have required setting up in a different location. At our local coast on Long Island Sound, the water is almost always flat calm, so it doesn’t take much to smooth it out completely. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a chance to photograph a rough sea.

Just caught up with this, great explanation. Really enjoy your channel, moving in LE more and more, but unfortunately I live hours away from the coast. Need to find some rivers this Autumn

I really like the 20 second photo. Your videos are very inspiring, now I want to go out with my camera :)
My Fuji X-H1 could automatically choose the long exposure times in A mode - my Nikon Z6 can only do 30 seconds max without remote shutter :( Not sure if they improved that in the Z6II already.
I'm searching for a new filter kit at the moment. Not so easy to find one for the Z 14-30 lens because you have to buy larger filters when you want to stack 2 or more :D Probably go with Kase round magnetic filter system - 95mm.

Hi Attilio, Thank you for your hard work and for making these videos. Is using live view when doing the initial exposure (no filters) good? How do long exposures wear on the sensor? If you are using live view and making long exposures (300 sec to 700 sec), what advice do you have about batteries? Finally, do you ever use focus stacking with normal (50-70mm lenses) or is that just not practical with the fast-changing light? Appreciate the help.

Screw-in ND 100 filters will always change the previously set focus and this is their biggest disadvantage.
Be sure to hold the lens barrel when screwing it in.
