As an alternative to the Sony. The Pioneer touch screen AVIC-F77Dab with Double Din, full UK/Europe Satnav,, Bluetooth, iPhone Car Play and Android Auto fits perfectly flush in the X5 e53 with no gaps. Plus the whole screen angles upwards with the push of a button to reveal DVD slot and extra SD card slot.

When I did it I found that the way I did it at the time to be the only way really to be able to do it, only other way to do it may be to mount the head unit further backwards but it might take a bit of modification slightly

i recently bought a xav-ax8150 which is very similar to this head unit but i wasnt able get the steering wheel controls on my e90 bmw to work! do you know what adaptors i need to get for it?
Hello! An adaptor such as the Connects2 DS-BM005 would likely be suitable for this. We recommend you ask a reputable car audio specialist to confirm this however, as we're not experts in this area. Hope you can get it working soon!
I purchased this recently. For some reason I cannot get the steering wheel controls to work even though I've followed your steps, Any ideas? Also the unit just will not display the correct date and time until it links up with dab. Even on manual it will not save the correct date and time.
Try looking at the rear connections, they may be round the wrong way, steering wheel controls are weird because they can be plugged in one end but not the other, with the time and date try a setting about manually or automatically finding the correct time zone
How can you play CZcams video to the sony ? I can't find that option 😕
Download an app called Weblink and it will link with your stereo and you can control it and do it all via your iPhone or android device, download the CZcams app aswell for easier access, it basically mirrors your phone onto the stereo

How easy is it to remove? Would it attract unwanted attention to my car?
Really easy to remove, to be honest I don’t think having stereos stolen happens too much these days, certainly not as much as it used to so I think you should be fine
is it bright enough in sunny days?
Yeah perfect on any weather condition whether it be day or night , sunny or pitch black it’s brilliant all round
