"Bamboo's definitely regards as one of the most sustainable building material in the world, it grows very quickly, it is very, very strong, as a bonus it is also very very beautiful to work with. What we've done here is creating this very, very practical building using bamboo with obviously sustainability as a core purpose but at the same time we were also able to create a very esthetically beautiful building using bamboo".

" In this part of the world we are lucky enough to obviously be in a place with the climate where we could build open air structures, with bamboo. You couldn't build this kind of building in many parts of the world, you couldn't do it in downtown Jakarta because the air quality issues that you have. I always joke that our bigger picture goal here is to spread gospel bamboo and we got a lot of visitors who come here, I call them the bamboo junkies, who come to pay homage to this mothership here, this building Hardy's school, which is maybe the largest bamboo building in asia, maybe the largest bamboo building in the world, probably the most beautiful bamboo structure anywhere."

"We're really comfortable in our culture and in architecture with straight lines, and bamboo is not a straight line. So that in itself is a huge shift in thinking. How to deal with this curve. This pole here started three floors below us, so three floors below us, it's attached to the earth. And in the architecture plans and in reconstruction process we have to really keep in mind where it's going to end up at the top. And it's not a straight line. So that just simple fact, makes the on site supervision, and the problem solving, all of that, all of that just become infinitely more complicated because it is not a straight line."

The world's largest bamboo commercial structure is taking shape in Bali.
Off a beaten track, past a towering banyan tree and next to an ancient Hindu temple, the building will eventually house a chocolate factory.
STORYLINE:
On the outskirt of this village in Central Bali, the three-story, 23,000-sq.-foot building _ made from more than 3,000 long, flexible poles _ is crowned with a graceful, sloped ceiling nearly 50 feet high.

I read on the internet that treated bamboo can have a lifespan of 70 years or more in buildings.
use an old bamboo and treat with correct way will stand for 100 years
Excelente construcción de bambú
I was hoping for a lot more actual building technique. It is indeed seismically sound, very handy near the ring of fire. Storm resistant may be another story. The artsy design theme is very nice but don't take too much credit for building with bamboo. That craft is thousands of years old.

How many years will it last?
My mother's bamboo bed is 30 yrs old and still very sturdy. Those are untreated bamboos. I watched from other videos that the bamboos they used here were treated and will last forever, or at least, for a long long time.
