- We love love love this cream of mushroom rice. It's so easy to cook and so so yummy. Another recipe that's work-from-home friendly. If you have a rice cooker, you can just stir fry the ingredients together before cooking it in a rice cooker - cook it in the same way as you would with plain white rice. We purposely used a dutch oven to show you how easy it is to make this dish even without a rice cooker. Try this recipe and let us know what you think. Happy cooking!
See the ingredient list below for your easy reference.
Hope you can recreate this yummy dish in the comfort of your home. Thanks for dropping by our channel.

------------------
Ingredients:
Serves 3 pax
-------
15g butter
130g chopped red onion
170g skinless & boneless chicken thigh meat
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
A few dashes of white or black pepper
150g fresh button mushrooms (sliced)
300g Thai jasmine rice
270ml water (reduce to 250ml if you don’t want your rice to be too wet)
1 can (290ml) cream of mushroom
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 stalks of chopped spring onion
Note: this recipe works perfectly well in a rice cooker too. If your rice cooker doesn’t have the fry function, simply fry the ingredients in a pot over the stove then transfer everything into a rice cooker and cook like normal rice.
If you don’t have fresh mushrooms, canned button mushrooms work too. You can slightly increase the amount of onions used - doesn’t need to be exactly 130g. Hope this helps.

Hi Roland, I cooked this today. It is heavenly. My family and even my mum who is 75 yrs old enjoys so much. Thanks.
Thank you so much for using our recipe, Iris. We’re so happy to know that your family enjoyed it.
Is the rice texture like risotto, like mushier kind?
Hi Roland, thank you so much. I am a Singaporean living in Hong Kong. Due to the coronavirus, I have been staying at home and cooking all these wonderful dishes that remind me of home thanks to your CZcams videos. You are doing so much to help all of us go through this period. It is such a joy to hear your voice and absolute passion in cooking. It truly reminds what matters to us in life.
Thank you so much for posting this recipe. Seeing those burnt bits gladdened my heart.
My dad doesn't like creamy sruff. Coincidentally, I was just talking about getting cans cream of mushroom to set aside as emergency rations. But with dad not being into it, I was wondering how to get around it. This is the perfect solution. I'm gonna try to build on this & make fried noodles as well.
God bless you man 😁 Tanx heaps 🙏🏽
Your recipe looks delicious!! Can’t wait to make this for my family tomorrow, thank you for sharing your delicious recipe🤗🙏🏽

Looks delicious, will have to make this!!!!!
Happy cooking, Shirley.
I love mushroom soup with rice, my best friend i met in highschool informed me, my family has been making it ever since!
I use a steamer (Which my friends mom got when she saw the results) I just throw in the rice, a can of mushroom soup and a few cups of water, I dont think I've ever had leftovers when I'm not just making it for myself.
Its the perfect side dish for almost any meal, and by just adding a few extra mushrooms (the cans kind of skimp on them) and adding a protein like meat or tofu (by my preference) and of course spicing it up a bit can make this easy dish into a full meal on its own!
I feel like I've wasted my time and my moms money as a kid just eating mushroom soup on its own when i could have made it into a full on meal for everyone!
But I'm just glad i know now!
That’s awesome! Happy cooking!!
nice delicious recipe!
I saw this posted on facebook. Knew i would love it. Yummy.
Very tasty. Thanks!
This is so old my mom been doing this since 1966 a family of 11 but it bought back memories 👍🏾

Hope you will enjoy this recipe. Happy cooking, Grace :)
Looks good
👍 nice. It’s almost like wartime cooking.
But this time we can learn from you on CZcams 😊
You’re right. Certainly feels like war time to us too. Scary!!
Cream of mushroom, rice, and ground beef is a cheap and tasty meal that I used to make for my siblings. It's nice how others use cream of mushroom for their dishes.
I am so glad I came across your videos. I watch Palin from Hot thai Kitchen and Kim from Souped up Recipes. You are now a favorite as well. Thank you
Awww. Thank you so much! We really appreciate it!
My sisters and I grew up with cream of mushroom soup. Already have a weeks supply of this and cream of chicken on hand. Usually I add mushrooms and a table spoon of soy sauce. Will give your recipe a try. Thanks.
Happy cooking and stay safe.
Wow! Looks good. I just shared ur link with my son who is living alone abroad. Please share more 1 pot meal for busy students like him. 🙏🏻

So good 😋😋😋Yummy
Thank you so much
Genius 😎
You make me very hungry every time i watch your videos.
Guess thats why the campbell soup cans are often sold out. Thanks for the sharing. Its really easy too.
Good morning chef🙏🙏 wowwwww nice
Thank you so much for this recipe! Just tried it. Despite being a complete n00b, it actually came out decent! I used too much rice, and too little water, so the rice was still crunchy at 15 minutes. I had to add boiling water a couple times and cook it for about 10 minutes more, but it did come out edible, so that's a big win in my book! Added soy sauce and pepper to the servings which brought out the flavor more.
Thanks for a recipe even a complete novice could follow!
You’re most welcome. Hope you can get it perfect the next time 👍👍👍👍
i cook/make something like this except i havent used the oyster sauce and spring onions,, i always try to make one pot meals less clean up time,, just subbed and thumbs - up,, be blessed and safe
i aspire to be as great as a chef like you.
Was the rice cooked before you added it to the pot? Love cream of mushroom soup.....will deffinately make this probably tomorrow for the family
A great recipe you got there. I tried the recipe and it’s delish. Thanks for sharing this great dish. Can I know the name and the brand of your pot which you cook this dish? . It looks like a very good pot to have in my kitchen. :)
Hi what a great idea! Can I check if this can also be cooked in the rice cooker same way?
Looks great but can the fried ingredients be transferred to the rice cooker then the water/soup added in? Will the quantity of water need to be reduced in this case?
I bet those burnt bits are divine 🤤
Awesome 👏 ! When you cook it, was the fire High, Medium or Low for 15minutes., Can we used it to cook in a rice cooker ? Thanks. Cheers 🍻
Mmm....comfort food.
u are a boss mate
Thank you so much
Looks yummy. Is it CONDENSED Cream of Mushroom so it needs to be diluted water? Did u use campbell?
Hi Lilian. Yes Campbell soup.
I'm still making this some years later. Came to refresh.
Glad to know that you enjoyed this recipe 🥰🥰
@@spicenpans came out great again even though I didn't have scallions or mushrooms, and thought I burnt the bottom but it was just like you said added some crunch and smokiness.
That looks absolutely delish! Is it alright to substitute jasmine rice with japonica rice?
Hi Roland, thank you for sharing this delicious looking dish. Is it possible to cook tis dish in a rice cooker or a Dutch oven? Thank you :)
Yes absolutely. Reduce the water slightly by 5 percent
Can I transfer everything aft frying to the rice cooker to finish cooking?
omg coincidentally, i was just wondering what i can do with a can of mushroom soup today (nothing left in my pantry) and was also looking for a one pot rice/rice cooker or rice skillet recipe xD and its asian too! (I'm malaysian studying in the UK but i always miss chinese/asian food :p) this video is so conveniently helpful ! (such coincidence though xD) thank you!
((can i use brown rice instead? would that require more water?))
Cyan Sin Hi, usually if I’m using brown rice it’s always double the water. So if 1 cup rice-2 cups water 😊 Sometimes I add 1 1/2c extra for a more sticky consistency 😉
Yes you can
@@EileenDurrant ah okay, thank you!!
The great thing about this is you can swap out any meat except maybe fish. Thank you!
tank you very much
Roland, I tried the receipe today. It is good. Except my rice is a wet. Can i use the normal thai fragrance rice?
Hi Hope Happy. Thank you so much for using this recipe. Yes the rice will be a little wet. You can try reducing the water even more. Yes we used Thai fragrant rice too. 🤓🤓
Cooked this today but omitted the chicken as I served it Japanese White Chicken Stew. Used all freshly sliced cremini mushrooms. Instead of water I added in honemade chicken stock. Really good but I found that 15 mins on the stove low heat wasn't enough time to cook the rice & my rice was already charring a lot at the bottom of the pot. So in the end halfway transferred to rice cooker instead to finish the cooking. Texture tastes like Creamy Mushroom Rissoto! Maybe next time I should reduce the water/stock? Could u tell me why my rice was still half cooked after 15 mins? I simmered on low heat covered all the time. Anyway the dish turned out fine in the rice cooker the entire family loved it. Still had some of my nicely charred rice though!
Hi boss, can I know what model and size pan of yours? The non stick properties look damn power siah. Where to buy in SG?
Can I use the rice cooker?
I wonder if cheese & abit of milk in place of water goes well with this😍
Hi, can i cook this using rice cooker
Can you tell me how many cups of rice you used? I don't have a scale to measure in grams. Thank you..also dan I use pork strips instead of chicken?
I bet it looks and taste like risotto.
I don't have rice at home, it's not my staple. But after seeing this I might get a bag of jasmine rice handy 🙂
Pauline Photo Backup - I bet it does taste like mushroom risotto! Great observation! You could try with type office and let us know which version rocks for you!
Pauline Photo Backup
Just used leftover JRice yesterday. About 3 cups. Heated bit canola oil, added chopped scallions (or med onion) added rice, tossed. Made side room with xtra tbsp of oil added 2 eggs- scrambled. Then add in few big squirts of, ketchup. Toss well. My late mom made this as an alternate quick fried rice.
The other- same process, was half lb chopped fried bacon (set aside) use bit of grease mixed with oil, scallions, 2 eggs, packet/ fried rice mix----No ketchup. Add crumbled bacon last.
1st is more tedious, extra prep, but 2nd is so easy. Btw, only like ketchup on meatloaf, but in the rice, it adds flavor/color and not sweet as it may sound. Hope you try it out! Love simple fried rice!!
@@amykrygsman9080 Type office?
@@KellyShae100 Wow thanks for your version of fried rice recipe. I'm actually a typical Asian myself and grew up eating lots of rice including fried rice. I used to help my grandmother cooking (more like preparing, a sous chef) Hakka Chinese food.
Now that I'm living on my own in the city, for health and perhaps urbanisation reasons I opt not to cook rice at home (but I do when eat out) but cook a lot of western or regional food thanks to tutorials from CZcams.
Again thanks for your recipe, it's a lot different from ours, we didn't use fried rice mix back home, all taste are from the ingredients and ketchup was used as condiment rather than ingredients. We also didn't have the luxury of eating bacon so luncheon meat was the normal meat for a typical fried rice in Malaysian Chinese cuisine.
Will it still taste nice if I use a can of Campbell chicken soup instead?
Can I omit the chicken and just add in more mushrooms like dried shiitake mushrooms? If I use store bought reduced sodium chicken stock, can I omit the salt? So that the dish won'y be too salty. Thanks if u can reply. I was just thinking of serving it as a dish with some Baked Garlic Chicken Wings with some italian herbs added. Western dinner. Great side dish esp during this covid 19 pandemic.
Mushrooms instead of the chicken, got for it. As I use low salt chicken broth, I have to check along the way for salt as sometimes I still need to add it. However, when doing Asian, I usually use Soy sauce or fish sauce and eliminate the salt.
Can i also add in evaporated milk as i have leftover from cooking
Should be ok. Reduce the amount of water used. Happy cooking! But you might wanna keep the evaporated milk for these recipes:

You’re most welcome. Stay safe 🙏🙏
what pan is that? a Dutch oven?
Can we replace fresh mushrooms with canned mushrooms?
May I know which brand the cream of mushroom?
Just made this today and it is delicious! I only changed one thing; replaced the water with chicken stock to add a little more richness.
Hi, can I used carbonara can sauce instead of cream of mushroom?
I think so! Shouldn't be a problem. Happy cooking!
Do you know how many cups roughly is 300 gram of rice?
Can I use rice cooker for this?
I just tried using rice cooker to whip this dish. Taste as awesome as it is. Just that the rice is a little wet. 😋
How many rice cooker cups is 300g of rice?
How to make mushroom cream chef?
Instead of weight, may i know how many cups of rice n how many cups of water pls. Many thanks
lol for the panic buyers who dont know what else to do with their campbell soup
Can I cook the ingredients and transfer everything to finish in a rice cooker?
No
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Roland. Have you tried replacing Cream of Mushroom with Cream of Chicken because that's what I happen to have at the moment? Would it turn out well? 🤔
Cook 15 min on high, medium heat or low?
Low
help! i thought my husband bought mushroom soup but instead it was corn soup! can i use it in this recipe??
and i have already started cooking :S
Opps. Can no problem. Sorry my answer came too late.
Guys, canned mushroom soup can be replaced with powdered version but need more mushrooms. No need to hoard or rush to buy.
Hello Jamie! Is the butter salted butter? Can normal bread butter be used too?
Hihi. Salted butter is fine. Unsalted is also fine because we didn’t use a lot of butter. Happy cooking!
@@spicenpans Thks! :D
300g = 1 1/2 cups and 270ml = 1 1/2 cups water
Asian rissotto?
I followed the recipe but cooked the rice in the rice cooker instead of over the stove. It didn't work. The rice wasn't cooked even though I used 'white rice' function. Why did I go wrong?
Try cooking it again. Maybe the cycle is too short. Sorry we didn’t try this in a rice cooker so we can’t advise much.
