I grew up listening to this incredible band. I have all my posters of Led Zeppelin, some in better condition than others but I don't remember a day that I didn't spend hours listening while staring at those posters hoping for the day I would see them live. Sadly when I was a senior in highschool John Bonham passed away. A few years later I was able to see Jimmy and Robert. I have somany great memories of the hours my friends and I listened to this great music. I hope you listen to Presence as well. Enjoy !!!! 🎶🎼🎵

One of the songs on this album that were recorded for earlier albums, in this case the title track of the previous album. I think John Paul Jones's importance for Zeppelin is sometimes overlooked much in the same way that George Harrison's importance to the success of The Beatles was. He is an excellent bass/keyboard/mandolin player as well as an incredible songwriter & arranger. Jimmy & Robert always said that every member of the group was an equal part & that's why when John Bonham died they felt they couldn't go on as it just wouldn't be Zeppelin without those 4 people.

John Paul Jones is in a band with the singer from Queens of the Stone Age (who also plays guitar), and the drummer from Nirvana, Dave Grohl. The band is called Them Crooked Vultures. Their song Nobody Loves Me And Neither Do I will crush you with it's bass lines. A killer track all around.

Right? It's deep until you realize pretty much every lyric in older rock 'n roll was sexual double entendre. Over time it became more overt because a tolerance was developing; have to keep upping the dose to shock and sell records. The original audience was a relatively sexually repressed bunch, too. Have we come full circle now, where the lyrics original subversive undertone is being understood literally?

Roman is slightly wrong when he says that “the pocket” is the bass playing on the beat with the drums. The drummer sets the pocket…some better than others. You will have other musicians, especially bass players, talk about a drummer’s “great pocket” and what a joy it was to play with that drummer because of “his pocket”. Some drummers are referred to as “pocket drummers” or that they stayed in the pocket. It’s all about the drummer. Some drummers I’ve heard mention as outstanding pocket drummers are Russ Kunkel, Jeff Pecaro, Charlie Watts, Ringo Starr.

Hi.. I'm from Belgium , roughly as old as your father/uncle.. and I discovered your channel today and already saw a dozen of your videos (already suscriber) ; I love your enthusiasm and glad you enjoy and dive deep into Led Zep discography ! You make a video each day so you can really appreciate album that was a whole to lsiten (not singles playlists as Spotify&co.) .. I really like your way to do it !
BUT I want to introduce into something that goes beyond music ... TOOL !!!
Since you like LZ, I'm sure that you will also love TOOL's univers ; although they are all very talented musicians, they also bring philosophy concept + arithmetics + grooves + mysticism + sciences + visuals + ... etc !!! TOOL's fans are sometimes called devots because the spiritual energy emanating from each notes can lifts souls who sometimes lost their-self (their last album is so important for my soul, my conciousness and... Pfiouuu.... It's very difficult to explain how much this band counts for me ... since a while ... and more today now I had a heart attack last week which could have been fatal !). Listen to this band into the hospital room was so ... helpful / grantful / timeless / serenity / powerness / and the list goes on .... TOOL is very special ; you NEED to know them (could you invite your uncle/father on this one ?? intergenerational reactions could help you to understand some concepts ! Yeah.. there are many layers !) !!
Let me introduce you from the beginning (for a perfect experience .. you will understand this "joke" later !) :
First, see as we world discovered TOOL.. back in 1992 with "Sober" official video (made by the band itself !)... it was not a common music and visuals at that time so they catch my eyes
but they reached a next step with their following albums ..so next, please check out in order : "46 & Two" 's Welcome Shadow 's video version (it have lyrics ..and more ! Check this..)
..then "Schism" / "Parabola" / "Lateralus" official videos (where they reach a new level beyond !)
Next, you could go deep into each first albums as you do for LZ... or go to "Reflection" / "Right In Two" ... but you need to listen -Fear Inoculum- whole album in audio only before seeing the "Pneuma - live version" from drummer's cameras (take this one for the very last video... you will be blowned away !!)
Hope you will enjoy this journey !!

On the vinyl it goes for just a little longer with a different lovely little guitar riff at the very end. If there was only one band I was able to listen to...it would be Led Zeppelin. I was 13 when this album came out, I knew the others through my older sister, she is 8 years older than me and I really got into them when I was 15 and listening to them after a little 'puff' which was prolific at the time made it so much deeper and...spiritual for want of a better word.

Smack Smug Yappy's hands. Not his gig.
Not a slap bass. JPJ used a pick much of the time. Like Chris Squire of Yes, for example, who used a "pick and thump" technique.
JPJ was excoriated in the beginning for his pick use.
Listen to "Zooma" for bass mastery.
Let me wander in your garden and the seeds of love I'll sow .

Roman's a slacker! Tell him to get off his butt and do more reaction. Dudes, have not learned anything about Zeppelin yet? "Let me wonder in your garden, the seeds of love I sow." He talking about sex. LOL. With Zeppelin, when in doubt to what the lyrics mean, if you think sex, you will be right 90% of the time. "Garden" is a metaphor for a part of a woman's body. Does not something grow in a garden and inside a woman? "Seeds of Love I sow" I am sure you can figure out what that is. Todays youth. Later in the song Plant says, "can I make your Garden Grow?" Thats pregnancy.
Your saying a lot when this is might the worst song on this album. Ironically, if I remember correctly, this and Kashmir got the most air play though. This clearly should have been on the previous album by the name and the music is more similar to that album. I have no idea why they held it off. Still, a very good song. Just not as good at it's big brothers on the album. The next two songs though are just amazing. Each has spent considerable time on my Best Zeppelin song list over the years.
A hint to whats going on in the next song. The lyrics are comparing a woman's body to various car parts.
