      ExactlyPrecisely The 1st 04 models are 4 speed autos and the late 04 models is when they added the 5 speed auto. I have a late 04 model with the 5 speed paddle shifter

    • @clover7359
      @clover7359 Před 7 lety +8

      True, but the car in the video is the 4 speed auto despite the claim in the description. The 5 speed autos are redlining at 60-62 mph in 2nd, while the 4 speed autos will redline at closer to 68-70 mph.
      If you pause the video when the car reaches 60 mph, you can clearly see the tachometer is touching 5000 rpm, which means it still has that extra 8-10 mph left before it shifts to 3rd.

    you should of threw it on triptonic mode and rode second all the way to 60 better times and really pull the power in power band auto mode only wants to save you gas so it shifts out faster

      @crazyjkz Před 5 lety +2

      @@killin2nu Actually most of the SL Maxima's that I've seen had the 4-speed automatic, just like the one in this video. The 5AT might have been available as an option on the SL but I'm not 100% sure on that. You can tell the Maxima in this video is a 4-speed by the wider spacing between 1st and 2nd gear. The 5-speed automatic was the only automatic transmission option in the SE model Maxima and it was an Aisin (Toyota) transmission. It had noticeably closer gear ratios than the 4-speed auto in the SL.
      Also, the CVT wasn't available in the Maxima until the 2007 model year. In fact, starting in 2007 the CVT was the only automatic transmission option.

    It's kinda funny how people keep saying oh it's a 4 speed. If he is able to have a fifth gear with the paddle shifters then it's a 5 speed. Otherwise it's like saying blind people can see

    • @J.Nev.
      @J.Nev. Před 6 lety +2

      It’s A 4 Speed .. The Se Models With The 5 Speed Auto Normally Redlines About 60mph . This One Hasn’t Redlined By 60 .

    • @crazyjkz
      @crazyjkz Před 5 lety +2

      This is definitely a 4-speed automatic. You cannot tell how many gears are available in the manual mode because he has it in D "drive" and he's clearly nowhere near highway speeds so that's totally irrelevant.
      You can tell it's a 4-speed auto simply by the wide spacing between 1st and 2nd gear. The Aisin 5-speed automatic that was in the SE Maxima had significantly closer gear spacing than the 4-speed auto found in these SL models, particularly between 1st and 2nd gear. If you want to see what I'm referring to then simply check out a video of the 04-06 SE Maxima with automatic transmission (5-speed auto) and you will see a noticeable difference in the gearing. Simple as that.
