Having done 100km plus races, totally agree that flat out speed is usually sacrificed for "easier" paddling in a more stable boat. Congrats on a big effort!
Every race I have been in like that you need to be lifted out of the boat at the end!!

Good idea would be to paddle to a click track. Each time it clicks you put your paddling in After two minutes see which ones gone further

Great video, we have some ultra distance races on rivers with a current in my area. An often used boat is a Stellar S18S Surfside or an epic V8. Both are stable and are usually faster than touring kayaks. Any videos of that race you did?

    Good job man!!! :)
What kind of paddle did you use, and was there anyone using a Greenland Paddle for such a long race?

Thanks! I was using the same wing paddle for the race as the practice laps, i.e. a small epic. There are typically a few Greenland paddles around the race, but it is indeed a slow paddle so never even close to the top distances. But this race is mostly a race for yourself, and if you prefer the Greenland then by all means you're welcome!

Interesting video thanks. Is the sea kayak you have one of the fastest available? How does it compare with a Greenlander?

machoneboard the Taran here is fast, but I dare say it is far from the fastest. There are some hybrid sea kayaks which definitely should be faster, simply look for 6+ meters with a race kayak type hull.
I have yet to paddle a Greenland kayak, but I don't expect them to be faster. The lower volume will take less wind but also move around considerable amounts of water in rough sea. And I am convinced that a rudder is necessary to effectively keep a straight course in various winds.
