With Roe overturned, women have to leave their states to get an abortion | Fault Lines Documentary

  • In June, the Supreme Court of the United States overturned Roe v. Wade, the decision that made abortion a constitutional right for nearly half a century.
Abortion rights are now up to each state to decide, opening the floodgates for bans across the country.
Fault Lines traveled to Texas, where the landmark case was born in 1970, and where abortion is now illegal in nearly all cases.
'The End of Roe' follows a doctor, staff and patients in an Austin clinic in the immediate days after the decision as they navigate the legal chaos and uncertainty of a post-Roe America. It also follows a group of women who had to cross state lines to access abortions and finds that, for many, this journey is not possible. With more states instituting bans and little support from the government, people are often left with no choice over their reproductive health.

Honestly, I think it would be wise for democrat (women) to be more choosy with their partners now. Only pick successful men, that believe you have rights as a woman; will treat you like a partner in life and not as someone to control. Men that will help you raise a child if you choose to have one.
Having a family is not as important anymore, but focusing on becoming independent and having good careers is.

"The unborn" are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; unlike orphans, they don't need money, education, or childcare; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. It's almost as if, by being born, they have died to you. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus but actually dislike people who breathe. Prisoners? Immigrants? The sick? The poor? Widows? Orphans? All the groups that are specifically mentioned in the Bible? They all get thrown under the bus for the unborn."

I’m for preventative government health coverage. Poor health can be avoided if you pay attention to the early signs.
Widows? Let’s make it easier for widows to get help, how? I don’t know
Orphans? Make it easier for adoption, right now there’s too many barriers to adoption. The state is in the way too much

@@chrissmith7669epends on where you go in history, early Christians of the Roman empire were extremely against abortion and forbid the practice.
It actually attracted a large number of women because during this time it wasn't their choice but the choice of their husbands and fathers.
Abortions were extremely dangerous as they didn't have modern medical technology so many women jumped at the chance to convert so that they could be safe.
They also tended to have a preference for boys over women so baby girls were left alone in the wilderness and Christians would adopt them and raise them as their own, literally going out looking for them because they knew this practice was happening.
Of course it varies depending on place, time, and group. Catholics in the United States have always universally been against it. Seeing as many Irish and Italian immigrants helped build this country it's very likely massive parts of the population were in opposition.
The evangelicals came on later when the Catholics made the rational arguments to them and when presented with the overwhelming evidence they became the core of the pro-life movement.

You can't have it both ways. Texas carries the death penalty(murder) but bans abortion. If SIN is the reason for banning abortion, why isn't adultery? It's not my place to judge ANYONE ELSE'S actions in this life, as NO ONE is free from sin. But the fact that "church and state" isn't being honored in this country, is WRONG.

@Anon Ymous Comparing a hand to a new organism is biologically and physiologically absurd.
It is legally absurd to say that the fetus has any active demands on the mother, because it did not enter the womb of its own free will.
      The question is:
what can possibly be a valid argument for taking the life of a completely innocent and harmless human being?

    • @heidi2842
      @heidi2842 Před rokem +2

@Anon Ymous The fact that a fetus is dependent on its mother's body is not an argument that the fetus is not a human being.
Independence is not the core of being a human.
Also, if someone depends on someone, it does not mean that someone owns someone.
So what about the mother who abuses the bodily autonomy of the fetus? - as you yourself said - no one has the right to abuse someone else's body to save their own life. Isn't that exactly what the mother does in an abortion? So we have two parties, both with the right to bodily autonomy. In the circumstances where the fetus had nothing to do with the pregnancy and taking into account that the mother will retain her bodily autonomy in several months, the right of the fetus to bodily autonomy prevails. Which means it has every right to be born. I am handling your arguments here.
However, the deep truth is not the mother is after her bodily autonomy - she will have it in a few months. The truth is the mother in fact has another goal - to prevent the child from being born, that is, to avoid motherhood. There are far more civilized ways of avoiding motherhood than abortion.
