This is a huge relief thanks man for the video I’ve been looking for a while for a starter video I have a gl1200 interstate that’s having trouble starting and now that I know it’s not the starter I know for a fact it’s the battery thank you so much your a life and money saver ❤️
It was in fact the starter. The starter was pretty much toast as the armature contacts were done. Posted photos on goldwingdocs. The fix was rebuilding another starter which is rather simple. It probably takes more time removing the starter. I also cleaned any corrosion where the starter mounts to the block so there is a good ground.

I also rebuilt the starter on my GL1000. Just cleaned everything and installed new brushes. Still working 30 years later.
