In the beautiful video the two lovers have to break apart because their love is impossible to continue without one of them "dying". The relationship can't go on... So they just have to accept it and let it go.
It's a hard choice to make and an even harder one to stick to, but it's what you have to do... And at the end of your journey together, you both separate and continue your stories in different worlds.
This was already one of my favourite tracks from Zhu way before Sandman. Imagine the excitement and the sheer goosebumps I got when they showed Desire’s Threshold to this song. I absolutely lost my mind!! Masterpiece of a song coupled with a masterpiece of a scene. Pure art.
I am going to go look for the episode, I'm curious! I too liked Zhu before they used this song.
@@karinareyes6004 Hi Karina! Yes, I believe it was episode 6. It’s a wonderful series and I’m excited for season 2! Also, I love Zhu’s music. Takes you to a different place.
The lyrics and the art compliment each other through 2 entangled feelings; to desire and to be free. The guy in the video eventually hits the water (a red color that matches his body color) to break free into a different form of himself (possibly a “free” version of him), but the girl’s blue colored body is shattered like a glass instead (a symbol of rigid but brittle feeling), and the pain in all this is seen through a blood 🩸 stain on a piece of the broken glass - the great cost of breaking free from someone you can’t be with anymore. The red is the vulnerable color, the blue is the resilient color, like a meteor that comes down from the sky - as seen at the beginning of the video when the girl falls through the clouds with her face first (while the guy is falling on his back).
Thank you for this detailed explanation because honestly I could never figure out exactly what was happening. I was thinking he was an angel falling from heaven coming back for her, but she's destined for another place.....it made me cry and overthink too much!! Thanks again 🙌! 🙋♀️🙏

Beyond the massive clouds of buzz and information we receive everyday there are a lot of geniuses, and all geniuses are misunderstood. Because they are ahead of their time. ZHU is no different. He will not pick up because the algorithm driven, hiveminded drone cannot understand him, therefore he is not praised. And that is a good thing.

When i discovered "desire" for the first time, i was in a phase in which a woman had broken my heart really bad. I've seldom felt that way on a track and that evening and the following days, i listened to "Desire" over 100 times. An absolute masterpiece, the music as well as the video clip. I haven't found love, but i will carry this track in my heart forever.

This video captures better the lyrics than a lyrical video :O The twofold scenes at 1:50, 1:53, 2:00, 2:31, 2:44, 2:50, 2:53 show beautifully the whole concept of people in fear to feel love and desire for another person in case they lose their own desires and identity. Being yourself while being one with another person is the real struggle and u havo to be fearless to achieve it. congrats to this masterpiece
