    Summary: Nikhil tells Chas that he's there for her if she needs a shoulder to cry on, but he's disappointed by her reaction. Chas is scared that Aaron will end up in prison and is hostile towards Hazel when they see each other. However, Hazel snaps that Aaron is stronger than she's giving him credit for. Later, Bob helps Hazel to go back into Dale Head and comforts her when she breaks down. Aaron arrives and he and Hazel tearfully watch Jackson's final video message to them. At the same time, Ashley has been worrying about how to talk to Hazel all day. When she arrives at Mulberry Cottage to discuss Jackson's funeral arrangements, she's hurt and confused when Ashley tells her that he's empathetic with her situation but can't condone what she's done and won't carry out the funeral himself.

    When Aaron was on his own watching Jackson's final message and he kept replaying "I love you", my heart went out to him. He just needed to keep hearing those three words because they meant so much and Jackson can't say them in person anymore. It heartbreaking to watch.

    It is heartbreaking how Aaron plays that bit over and over "I love you". Something I would do. They show us his pain and suffering but it is never properly dealt with by the writers. So frustrating and somewhat abusive to the audience.

    Pauline is giving the female performance of the year!!!
    And Bob is really a great person, the equivalent to Adam when it comes to Aaron.
    Aaron was thinking "why didn´t I said I love you more and before when all was good before the crash?!"
    Heartbreaking

    I`m completely obsessed... watched the entire show in less than a week. on my day of i think i watched about 100 videos.

    of all people, Paddy should argue for Aaron and Hazel. Paddy ends the life, Justified by putting the animal out of their misery on a regular basis. He rightfully feels sad about putting a beloved dog down, but he does it out of compassion. It is hypocritical for Paddy not to show the same compassion for Aaron and Hazel that he shows people who being their pets in to the clinic.

    @b5bobby I agree, and I think they have to show different reactions in order to keep it realistic (which they have done very well so far). When something like this happens, people will have opinions, and they will let you know how they feel--even some who really have no business saying anything. To make the story complete, I think they have to show Hazel and Aaron going through this and dealing with both the support and lack of support/empathy they get.

    If a counselor is uncomfortable or is emotionally conflicted with their client's choices, then it's in the client's best interest that the specialist refuse to counsel the client and refers the client to another specialist. It's no different with priests. It's better that Ashley told Hazel upfront that he can't do it because of his beliefs rather than waiting till the funeral to publicly chastise Aaron and Hazel, and saying Jackson may go to hell in front of everybody there. That would be worse.

    What I find weird about ED and all soaps is you only have to move to these places,like Hazel/Jackson,and live in them a few weeks and suddenly everyone treats you like they have known you forever.Like Bob to Hazel etc.
    It's not real life.-----If Jacksons story was,there would be hardly any reaction as nobody would have known him in the length of time he lived there.

    Oh please!... No matter what you say about Ashley answer being from his convictions and his own rights and blah blah, thruth is Ashley is wrong..., Didn't you hear him say to his father that he understood why his father did it for his mother?, then why can't he understand why Haz and Arron did it for Jackson?...Well, the answer is very simple and is obvious to all religions: because Church condones ONLY what it is of convenience for them and ONLY when it is of convenience for them. Or why do you think religion has been first case of murder within human history when it is the very first thing they marked as a SIN?

  • @yournewsecretcrush
    @yournewsecretcrush Před 13 lety

    @superxx57 He didn't indicate that his issue was with Jackson - it was with Hazel. This makes no sense at all. It would be like that counselor refused to see someone because of something their client's mother did that they did not agree with. And counselor's are suppose to be impartial and put their personal qualms and feelings aside. If Ashley didn't want to do the service b/c of the life or actions of Jackson - that's completely understandable - but that's not how he conveyed it.

    @OnMyWaytotheFLA I'm an American & it's very typical 2 ask a local minister 2 perform a service - even if that person isn't particularly religious. Especially in our religious nation - it happens all of the time. Hazel went 2 the only minister in the town to perform their service. That's totally 2 be expected. The Vicar did not say he wouldn't perform it because of Jackson's lack of belief or adherence to a specific church body. He won't perform it b/c of Hazel - which makes NO sense at all!

  • @Vantado
    @Vantado Před 13 lety

    @OnMyWaytotheFLA Maybe it's different down south but up north the family of agnostics and atheists who aren't rigorous in their opposition to a church burial will probably receive one. What is perhaps odd and not common place, compared to this clip, is Ashley refusing to do the burial because he know's the background of the person being buried. Most often, up North at least, the members of any given church are so numerous that the minister/priest probably doesn't know the individual being buried

    @cooltubez I have always found that life is an equation. Logical, rational. So, take out the emotional and you CAN always find good, LOGICAL reasons to do anything.
    BUT, you cannot rationalize irrational behavior. And that is the problem here. To reply, it will ALWAYS be Aaron and Jackson's story. Now, factor in LOVE - and makes it that much harder to get. Affairs of the heart - trying to justify emotions and thought. "Ain't" gonna happen. So figure out what side you're gonna be on.

    I think not refusing service base on race, sexuality, religion, nationality, religion, gender and so on is sensible and morally just. But I think we should be allowed to reject service to people who may have committed a criminal act, especially involving a death. I personally *don't* think what Hazel and Aaron did should be a criminal act, but it is. PLUS in the mind of Ashley he has *no* evidence to prove or disprove Jackson was not murdered. So... I understand Ashley's opinion and dilemma.

  • @superxx57
    @superxx57 Před 13 lety

    @patroclus33 No, it's pretty similar. A Christian minister uses a Bible just like a counselor uses a DSM. A Christian counselor uses both. If there's any type of emotional or spiritual conflict within a priest or a counselor regarding a certain matter, then they should refer the person in need to someone who's able to help them.

    @3252545 Jackson wanted to end his life, but could not do it alone due to his paralysis. Hazel and Aaron administered/helped him drink a lethal cocktail. Hazel mixed the drink and Aaron held the glass to Jackson's lips so he could drink it.

  • @Babyt4
    @Babyt4 Před 13 lety

    @b5bobby I never said they said Jackson cannot have a funeral, im saying the way he dies IS determining where his funeral is kept, Ashley does not want it in his Church therefore like frozenbaby as well as you said it would have to be a Priest/Pastor whoever that condones it to it. It is still sad.

  • @keithleroy1
    @keithleroy1 Před 13 lety

    its amazing how the show is being careful to put the alternate views now it cannot spoil their "death" and the ratings it bought in. before poor Jackson's death the only thing allowed on the TV screen was a very limited view of it all. Nothing that would question whether jackson could ever get past the feelings he had were allowed on the show.

  • @Vantado
    @Vantado Před 13 lety

    @OnMyWaytotheFLA untrue, many non-practitioners are buried by clergy of varying faiths simply because of familial wishes, in the states every day. I live in the states. I've been to a number of funerals conducted by priests/ministers of a variety of christian denominations that the individual being buried either had no belief in or stopped practicing years before. It's really all up to the way the family presents the situation. Perhaps there's a lack of community in the states with clergy.

  • @OnMyWaytotheFLA
    @OnMyWaytotheFLA Před 13 lety

    @Vantado There are many church bodies and pastors in the U.S. who completely refuse to do such funerals, and it's really not uncommon. I know of multiple stories where families of atheists/agnostics had to go to 10 or 15 churches before they found a minister who would perform the funeral. Some denominations are more open to it than others, but it really is not a very common occurrence.

  • @OnMyWaytotheFLA
    @OnMyWaytotheFLA Před 13 lety

    @winsboy I don't know of any religion where a minister's primary duty is to "put the comfort of others before his own." (I'm a cultural geographer, so I probably would know if there was one.) That might be your personal interpretation of religion, but it isn't a mainstream viewpoint. Ministers generally exist to guide others to what they perceive to be greater spiritual truths (whatever that might be), but they generally don't perform rites of passage for people who don't share their faith.

But I do think she was a little too hard on the Father Ashely. Such as her decision to help Jackson, it is his decision to turn down the funeral. Besides he didn't turn the church help and he did offer to find another Vicar to perform the ceremony.

    @soonersherewego A very christian reaction to a man sticking to his believes, maybe as Jackson (like me) was an athiest it is just a little hypocritical to be expecting a christian funeral anyway, but note a service was not refused Ashley just said he could not do it and he would arrange someone else to do it she wished.

  • @Freeze883
    @Freeze883 Před 13 lety

    Why does Hazel assume eveyone will understand what she and Aaron did? No one knew what Jackson was going through because they kept it a secret from them. As far as everyone knew Jackson was dealing with it. She can't expect people to understand just because she tells them, they had to live it like Aaron did. At least show them the video diary or something.

  • @OnMyWaytotheFLA
    @OnMyWaytotheFLA Před 13 lety

    @yournewsecretcrush What part of America are you from? It's certainly not common in the South (where I live) or the Midwest (where I grew up). I've never known a single atheist/agnostic who said that they wanted a Christian funeral/wedding/confirmation, etc. Plus, as a practicing Christian myself, every pastor that I've ever had has refused to do funerals for non-practicing Christians, mostly because they would end up either 1) hurting the family or 2) contradicting their own beliefs.

  • @superxx57
    @superxx57 Před 13 lety

    @menzhi A priest's job is to do God's work, nothing more or less. As sad as this sounds, Jackson's assisted suicide is an unredeemable sin, and if Ashely were to give the funeral, he would have to be completely honest about what happened and where Jackson would be going. I don't think he wanted to hurt Hazel more than he had to. Remember, he did offer to refer her to a priest who could do it. He's willing to help, but he just can't administer the funeral it himself, which is understandable.

  • @yournewsecretcrush
    @yournewsecretcrush Před 13 lety

    This makes absolutely no moral sense 2 me at all. I get that a minister might not want 2 perform a service for someone not in their religion or who lived a lifestyle outside of their particular beliefs, but that was not Ashley's qualm. His qualm was w/ what Hazel did - which should have ABSOLUTELY no baring on this situation. He's never had a problem w/Jackson - but now he doesn't want to do the service b/c of what Hazel did? Who cares? This isn't about her it's about Jackson! Just don't get it!

    @Constantlystealing Před 13 lety

    I think it's kind if bad of any man of god to refuse anyone's funeral at any time. I mean i understand scheduling conflict, but that's not the case here, it's a flat out no. They say God is about unconditional love and forgiveness, so even if he disagrees he shouldn't refuse... that's just wrong.

  • @frozenbaby2004
    @frozenbaby2004 Před 13 lety

    @Babyt4 In most religions - assisted or not, suicide is a SIN. As wrong or as right that may be, most religious leaders are between a rock and a hard place. To be actively involved - means they condone it. The church condones it (as they are the church's representative), and as such, they are breaking from church doctrine. Rather than being "human" - offering comfort, as one human to another, oft times the church is more concerned with it's image.

I'm sure he doesn't think Hazel, Aaron, or even Jackson are bad people, but what they did was wrong, and there's nothing wrong with pointing that out. Some people can handle and adapt to such circumstances, but others cannot. Would I choose to end it? No, because I'm a fighter. But do I judge those who choose that route, or the people who help them achieve it? No. Lets get back to the main issue, that no one in this little village is in a position to judge.

    @BoysLovingBoys Ashley did not refuse the service in his church, just him doing it, thats why I replied no one refused them a service, sorry if I over reacted to you, it was not meant either. When I die I do not want a christian funeral, and as Jackson was an athiest too, i think it is a little hypocritical of them both (Jackson and Hazel) to expect one, but notice the church was willing to do one even though they knew of Jackson views.

    Aaron and Hazel watching the video, and Jax saying he loved them both broke my heart. With Aaron replaying "I Love You", brought tears to my eyes. Ashley, refusing to do the service ,because it would make him condone what was done to Jax. Then he shouldn't consider himself Vicar. His own backyard isn't pure. If anything, he should be more sympathetic to Hazel and perform the service considering that his father partook in an "Assisted Suicide" by respecting the wishes and decision of a loved one. Therefore, I see him being judgmental. Yes, his mother was older and Jax was young. Its still up to the individual to make such decision to end his/her life.

    @patroclus33 oh thanks. I heard him say he was a vicar, but I didn't really know the connotation of it or how it differs from other religious titles. i also didn't realize non-priests wore white collars.

    Didn't any see the "Passion" Even Jesus, while being tortured and then crucified on the cross begged his father forgiveness for the soldiers and his accusers. "for they not know what they do"
    In many people eyes Euthanasia is just like murder, but you can't turn it and say murder is just like euthanasia. No one asked to be murdered

    Ashley needs to remove the dog collar and find a more suitable profession. Do they have openings for professional shitpickers in the village? As a Christian minister, he should understand his position only inflicts suffering on Jackson's survivors.

    @Frippot no, because it was still suicide. Suicide in any form, as a religious figure, he can't condone. Not just because of his position in the church, but because of his own moral beliefs as well.

    @b5bobby Either way ... it's about what Hazel did ... not with what Jackson did.
