WHAT IS KOBE BEEF?
Kobe beef is one of Japan’s three famous brands of wagyu beef. It comes from Tajima cattle that are raised in Hyogo prefecture and meet strict criteria in terms of environment, breeding, and meat quality. Only virgin Tajima cows can qualify as “Kobe beef,” and they must meet certain standards, like a BMS of 6 or higher and a yield score of A or B.
HOW IS WAGYU RANKED?
There are 2 different ranking systems for wagyu beef, according to the JMGA (Japanese Meat Grading Association) and BMS (Beef Marbling Standard). JMGA gives the yield quality (represented by a letter from A-C) and a number from 1-5 that represents the quality of meat (marbling, color, etc.). Meanwhile, the BMS system ranks wagyu from 1-12 based on the marbling density.

Have you ever eaten Kobe beef? How was your experience?
It's on my bucket list
No. Miss, but I do think all the food taste alike. The only food I won't touch is India food. But I do appreciate your thoughts on Kobe beef. Even if I can afford it, thanks but no thanks. I truly appreciate all your videos. Thanks again. 😊
lamb is better
I just can't see spending that much money for a piece of meat. I think Japanese has a problem.....2 Mangos for over $ 5000.00 U.S.D. 2 Japanese pear for $ 7000.00 USD. 2 PIECES tuna sushi for $ 10000.00 U.S.D. Get real!
@@davidli5115 ~$110 per pound for Kobe Beef isn't that bad. Everyone has their preferences...
Examples:
you can get a single teaspoon of Strottarga Bianco caviar for as high as $37,000.
Fresh white winter truffles costing from $6,000 to $10,000 per pound.
Saffron costing up to $5,000 at wholesale prices and up to $10,000 at retail prices per pound.
You can pay as much as $4,500 for a whole leg of jamón ibérico ham.
Madagascar vanilla costing up to $600 per pound.
You can literally buy a 24k gold crusted pizza in New York for $2500 and a burger for $5000 in Vegas.... By your standards that would mean every country has a "problem". Don't be prejudiced.
and let's not get started on expensive things other than food....
Love Kobe! It has so different atmosphere from Osaka with some foreign cultures remain (which make it more beautiful) although it takes only an hour from Osaka! And Kobe beed and a glass of red wine 😍💓Perfect💕
The pacing of this video was basically perfect. The variety of transition shots kept each scene fresh and Shizuka's no-nonsense hosting style made for a great video. Keep it up!
edit: I want to add some direct praise to the editor. He did a fantastic job piecing everything together.
Your comment is shared with our editor. Thank you for your kind message.
Shizuka is such a wonderful hostess, her description and presentation makes you want to be there.
I remember the episode where you and Sonny of Best Ever Food Show ate at the same place for that mouthwatering Kobe beef steak.
This was wonderful. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I'd love to be Shizuka san for a minute just to taste this Kobe beef..! 😋The whole restaurant to yourself and you deserve it..!
I'm sure the chef enjoyed serving you, you are such a happy & pleasant eater!☺️✨
My wife is from Kobe so I luckily get to visit every year (pre Covid). I'm spoiled to have the opportunity to eat Kobe beef often, but it sure as heck ain't cheap. Definitely a "worth it" experience though, and literally the best beef I have ever had the honour of trying.
How many kidneys do you have left?
The beef looks delicious, but the quantity is too much. I don’t think it is healthy. More vegetables, please!
Sanaol
This is the first video I have watched in this channel. Shizuka san’s presentation and personality is great and the editing is on point! Clearly a lot of work went into this, great job.
I was in Kobe with my wife only two weeks ago eating a very similar meal. One thing I noticed…. The Kobe beef was even more flavoursome when it cools down, the fat and flavours become more pronounced. My wife loved the cooked fat that they dice up and serve on rice. That tofu appetiser looked 🔥
How wonderful! Glad you could enjoy such delicious dinner!
love seeing Shizu have fun, great info on the Kobe/Wagyu beef, I have to try some
I miss Kobe so much! Thank you for helping me relive the experience again Shizuka! Kobe Beef is so delicious.

Can't wait to visit Kobe.

Keep it up. 👍👏
Thanks!
I had an exceptional dinning experience at Toufuya Ukai, located near the Tokyo Tower. One of the items served was wagyu beef. The dishes were fantastic. I have had A5 wagyu here in the states and it's great, expensive but worth it. We're planning to visit Kobe in the near future once Japan is open to travelers. thanks for the video.
Yes, Ukai is one of the best dining place for sure.
Another superb Shizuka vlog and with meat to !

Why do i torture myself by watching this
Good morning guys😊
Grill beef with wasabi and say souce... Very delicious. I like the restaurant looks romantic
only had it once and that was in 1986 when i went to Japan. we were in tokyo and a freind we were with had a sister living there. she took us to teppanyaki place . She said that that place was so exclusive that one could not just walk in or make a reservation. had to know the owner to get a seat. Were were served huge tiger prawns and Kobe beef. To this day 35 years later i still remember how the beef melted in my mouth. that meal cost use $250 a head . $250 for a meal was quite a bit of money back then .
Never been back to Japan since. might go after the pandemic is over
Thank you for sharing your story. Please visit Japan again.
Shizzyyyyy!😍😍😍

Cute and Beautiful Shizuka

Ive been there for a fee days. Loved the meat. I wanted more Kobe beef but I was on a charter and we were limited 😓
There is never enough of Kobe beef!
who else watches this at 2-3am and hungryyyy
HEAVEN!!! 😁😁😁
From a viewers perspective this seems to be the most I've ever seen Shizuka enjoy her food. I would be the same. Steak is just too good.
You were in food heaven! Out of curiosity how much did your meal cost without the wine?
It is about 220 USD.

Wow. Just wow
Oh yes!

My god!
Yum!
He was like....biiiii....I dint get paid enough to answer ur questions........
One does not know what the ultimate steak should taste like until they try Kobe beef in Japan
When you ate the steak you spiritually joined Sunny from BEFRS when he had his euphoria moments in the fields of Japan 😂
:D Hahaha, our favorite moment!
I have always wanted to eat at a very fancy restaurant a very expensive one and to dine and dash and feel that exhilaration/adrenaline,
One of my lifetime goals
Have you ever had hibachi oh it's so good and so much fun I would recommend it
We have tried hibachi dishes before and loved it :)
yum
i remember a video with you and sonny here
We love it too!
Other than Sushi/Sashimi there's nothing more emblematic of Japan's "distilled" approach to food. A perfect piece of artfully raised beef, cooked very simply. I am curious though...
1. You were served a selection of salt on the side. Was the beef seasoned with salt during cooking too? I saw what I presume to be black pepper used, but not salt.
2. Is Wagyu beef aged? Dry or wet aged? For how long?
I am enjoying very much your content. Superb production values.😀
Since no one has answered you I will take a run at it though just guessing really.
1/ no seasoning applied the chef appeared to use butter but it was probably unsalted. In other restaurant's the fat used to cook would actually be Kobe beef fat.
2/ No Kobe beef is not aged that process is to increase the flavours and textures of mostly inferior beef though not always however there is no need with Kobe.
Fun fact decades ago in Bangkok there was a restaurant that got caught selling fake Kobe beef yes it is so expensive it was worthwhile to counterfeit it. To be fair this was before ageing was a thing and before Australia got into the Wagyu market.
I bet that A5 melted like butter!!! 👅🥩👌
good foods is my life.
i don't care if it was meat from heaven but all i care is youuu, Shizuka.
Shizuka
She's a great presenter. Great voice. Great diction.
she's canadian with japanese lineage.. it's good she went back to japan, she has no problem speaking english or japanese
I think this is the exact same restaurant she went to with Sonny on his channel. 25k yen may sound like a lot it is roughly £140 however it is the worlds top steak prepared by world class chefs. It is not just in the top 1% it is the top 1% of that for the vast majority of us an unforgettable once in a lifetime experience.
one thing they didnt mention. kobe beef can only be called kobe beef if it come from kobe prefecture.
More with Sonny
I have a crush on shizuka
I could watch Shizuka eat wagyu A5 all day
Thank you for watching!
First time we saw her she was with Sonny...and even prettier this time!!! 🤗
Great outfit
how many times are they going release the same video ?
This is the first time we release it :)
is it the same restaurant you visited with sonny?
yes it is
@Japan by Food
I believe this is not the 1st time Shizzy had this type meal in this particular restaurant, right? 😏
Anyway, as this is one of the ultimate meals in the world, just for today, I will not bore everyone here with my sharing. However, for those who wish to enjoy this ultimate God-tier experience to the fullest, I would give one advice which is to bring your own set of metal or plastic chopsticks.
Believe it or not, the material of the chopsticks you use for your ultimate meal actually affects the taste of the food you eat and your overall experience(this is scientifically proven with independently backed scholarly-researched papers and it is also peer-reviewed).
I understand that due to the current COVID-19 global pandemic situation, restaurants would prefer disposable wooden chopsticks but trust me, using your own set of clean metal or plastic chopsticks would enhance your overall dining experience to the max! It is more environmental-friendly as well!
Stay safe always everyone.
now i know why nobit likes shizuka
It's majority fat, this is what gives you that initial juicy taste, but you cannot eat too much of it, otherwise you will feel sick.
there are some more expensive beefs other than kobe in japan, just FYI... (and even more delicious) :)
0:00 Shizuka-chan's reaction is... How should I say... As she says, "it is so hot"
Invite sonny there
Shizuka appears, I click.
Wonder when tourists will be allowed back.
We wonder it too :)
💖
Can I get it WELL DONE please?
we cannot see how delicious it is. you can say it is delicious but we do not know.
As a Japanese, teppanyaki is a food for the rich and foreign tourists.
Most ordinary Japanese have never had teppanyaki.
Except for okonomyaki places with a teppan I assume?
Shizuka u r an elegant and staggering beautiful lady ! U r very classy at table
Etiquette! Jesus what a beauty ! And kobe beef is a fine cut of meat match an elegant lady ⚡️
