I did a similar test and found the XPointer will not detect small brass while the Garrett will. This may not matter except for those searching artifacts. Let me see, brass or gold, brass or gold -- guess I will pick gold -- better yet, I will carry both Garrett and the XPointer on my tool belt. I can see the clear benefit of detecting the nugget with the x pointer but comparing for overall depth is pointless, a pin-pointer does not require deeper depths as its a pin-pointer, you need to be able to find those very shallow surface finds where extra depth will be more of a hindrance, the x pointer is a very nice piece of kit but its the none falsing side of it where it excels.
