My wife has the 2013 VW Jetta 2.5 se, same issue. So far, thermostat and engine coolant sensor replaced, new fuse 50 added, new fans added but aftermarket part used (not OEM) I haven’t checked the other sensor you mention in this video. So far, when it runs all I’m doing is just removing the fuse to make the large fan stop once the car is backed to a parked spot, otherwise it will drain the battery. Your video is excellent! I don’t know where you are located but if you were close to me I would take my vehicles all day to you! Thank you for your expertise! God bless!

When the fan or any of the temp sensors are disconnected the Pcm can default to turning on the fan regardless. So disconnecting is not really the best way to test. Nevertheless you got it right and it’s generally a bad fan module.

  • @rantonasoavinaraoelson9503

Thanks for your video, very helpful. On my golf 5 TDI, I recently changed my fan that wasn't working, fuse 50A was broken. Replaced the fuse and the fan with new one that's not OEM and it's still not working. Checking voltage on the wires you show on your videos, all OK.. checking the yellow with multimeter and put it on Hz/Duty and there is signal about 5Hz. So, I suppose the new fan that is not OEM is the problem. I'm wondering why fan that's not OEM is a garbage like that

Other demonstrated, that Fan turned on because of bad (AC) Fuse Nr1, located inside car, left side of front panel, under the cover. He putted a good fuse back, and fan stopped. Other demonstrated because of bad connection at Fan connector itself (Controller cable) he installed that cable, so it bypass connector, and fan stopped. Other told, without demonstration, that this can be caused because of AC pressure switch, some call it pressure sensor..

I would never have replaced the cooling fan over that issue. There is other things that have to be checked first. With me if a load is on and working then why replace it?? Is the temperature sensor reading the correct temperature?? Is the relay stuck closed?? Is there a problem with the fan control module?? If the load works ok we have to go somewhere else. Thank you K

Hello, I'm writing on behalf of my friend
He thinks he has a similar problem:
He was driving his car (Golf VI 2.0 TDI) normally and it stopped working. At the repair shop they changed the alternator, but later on his battery heated very quickly so he needed to disconnect it. He also has the same problem with the fans draining the battery until completely dead. Do you maybe know what could be the problem?
As soon as the car starts it shuts off immediately and then the fans start working.
I already changed the alternator once and after 7 days the same thing happened.
