    Prince was the best live performer, seriously put him up against anyone and he and his band will kill it every time. Ultimate showman with amazing musical skills. And he could do every style of music. Love and miss him every day.

    As a 63 year old huge Prince fan most of my life , when Prince died, not only did I mourn the death of him and his genius talents, I also greatly mourned the fact that I would never see him perform live again, in concert, on tv , anywhere at anytime. That’s the genius that he was live , as you see here…

    Prince played all 27 instruments on his debut album he is a master of 17 and arguably the best guitarists. Take a deep dive into Prince's music you'll not be disappointed.

      His bands were so ridiculously tight and well-rehearsed. Whenever I'm introduced to a new musician and see they worked with Prince, I already know they're great.

    I think one of the most impressive things about Prince and his bands , which is showcased in this performance, is how well-rehearsed they are that they have ENORMOUS freedom. His concerts were able to go "off the rails" in terms of jams going longer than they normally do but because everyone in the band is an exceptional musician AND the fact that they trust Prince to guide them, they can do long jam sessions where he completely controls where it goes and how long it lasts. He's controlling them like a band leader (like others have pointed out he uses the number of fingers he puts up to indicate how many band hits he wants and you can see him cut off the band when he wants that section to end) and a lot of it probably comes from the feeling of the moment and they execute it perfectly. It's actually insane

    Prince routinely threw tambourines into the crowd. It was part of his set. (It's why Chris Rock called his last standup special "Tambourine"), that and the actual Prince song "Tambourine" from ATWIAD. His guitar solo's, the drum solo, the overall performance, I mean, what a fucking god!!

  • @anthonywilson7681
    @anthonywilson7681 Před 24 dny +9

    Sign of the Times concert movie, he and Sheila E do a drum solo on 'Its Gonna Be a Beautiful Night". Sheila does a rap in the middle and Prince takes drums while she does that.

    Believe it or not, this is how all his concerts were! I saw him twice on the Purple Rain tour in '84, they were just incredible, amazing shows, like no one else could do. He had endless energy and when he was onstage he was truly alive. He could play more than 20 instruments and he played them well! Basically he could do anything, including dancing his ass off.

    Thank you!!! Loved your reaction so much. It brightened my evening. Prince often gave tambourines away at his concerts so that’s why you saw so many of them. In one of his interviews, he talked about how the audiences in Japan always left the tambourines back on the seats at the end of the show. 💜💜💜

    This is an incredible song! Off of the AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAY album, which came out after PURPLE RAIN and was so far removed from the sound of that album. It really became clear that this cat was someone who could make any style of music but also make a style of music that was unique to himself. Off of this album are great songs, the most popular being "Raspberry Beret". But the songs - "The Ladder" and "Pop Life" are standouts as well.

    This video shoot took place on 1985.10.27 at the Théâtre de Verdure in Nice, France.
    There were 2 takes which were both filmed. He also played : Paisley Park (filmed also), Let's Go Crazy, Delirious, Little Red Corvette and Purple Rain , which was a free 1 hour concert for the 2000 fans in the audience (it was announced on 1985.10.20 on Radio de la Côte radio station).
    The concert and a preshow 40 minute soundcheck exists on audio. I have the Soundcheck on my channel. 😎

    America is from Prince's Around The World In A Day album 1985 (Tamborine is just one more great song from that album), Prince had more material that year but Warner Bros. didn't want Prince to release too much "Prince" material all at once, so he gave an album of masterpieces to The Family for The Family album. A few of those masterpieces included: The Screams Of Passion; Nothing Compares 2 U; High Fashion.

    I feel very lucky to have grown up in this era( even if I feel bloody old now!) but it gave me a deep love for good music and performances, the likes of Prince, Queen, Journey, Van Halen, AC/DC, Deep Purple, GnR and so many more, these days I’m into Black Stone Cherry, Velvet Revolver( only did 2 albums before the unfortunate death of Scott Weiland) and the absolutely awesome Airbourne (seriously, check them out!) but ultimately, I always find myself going back to the old stuff.
