- We decided to take another look at the Xu Xiaodong 徐晓冬 event from 2018. There was a second match during this event that did not get as much publicity as Xu vs Ding Hao. We did cover the Xiong Chengcheng vs Yu Changhua match in our initial 2018 commentary, but we didn't really know much about Xiong Chengcheng 熊呈呈 until later. In this updated commentary, Jerry brings in Rob to commentate together and look at how a one-armed boxer dismantled a third generation direct Ip Man Wing Chun lineage "master." Let's see what Xiong does right and what Yu does wrong. Like always, leave your comments below and let us know what you saw!
Our first initial analysis:
• Wing Chun Kung Fu vs M...
The footage we analyzed and critiqued:
• Wing Chun Yu changhua(...
• 拳城出击总决赛 熊呈呈vs余昌华

really? Can you believe that this guy is a wing chun teacher? that guy must not have practiced martial arts in his life or maybe he has a couple of months training at the most it doesn't matter what he says anyone who understands something about martial arts or boxing etc ... would know after ten seconds of combat
Everyone has a plan till they get punched in the face that's what Mike Tyson said
The one arm boxer actually did wing chun and obides by its princible if you watch his interview,s
The reason why wing chun practitioners keep losing is because they are trying to propagate a myth that you can look decisively superior and execute class room text book wing chun ( volcaburay ) in a real fight.
You can't.
But if you pocess the wing chun volcaburay it's as useful as many other martial arts in MMA .
Step one , be an athlete and fighter , then if wingchun is reasonable to use fine.
In modern MMA it's not an economically viable use of training since you don't attack the knee joint , the groin or the eyes and you don't strike the opponent in the head when they are destabilised ( kneeling )
So it's just not a logical choice since these are the winning conditions of using the martial art on the street.
Back when I did lots of wing chun it was from a group called Pro-Am under nick smart and Milan prosencia .
I think the bad rep wing chun gets is mainly from the mythological mystical teaching methods
I'm not entirely sure if this is true but my good friend going up was from Korea. He said that most traditional martial arts especially in China were outlawed for long periods of time. They turned into less effective striking forms and more calastatic routines. He also said that Wing Chun was for Old Men 😆
We found one punch man
Tbh why would you fight a one armed boxer
If you lose, you got beaten by a one armed boxer
And if you win - congratulations, you have won against a one armed boxer
I can only imagine he thought it was a sure thing, and wing chun could definitely use a win. If he had won, the kung fu world would be shouting from the mountain tops that they easily beat a heavyweight professional boxing champion, not mentioning the one-armed part, and the fact that he's not a heavyweight, a pro, or a champion.
you don't understand those people, if they won against that one arm guy, they would call the one arm guy 'boxing master' and make up some story he is most powerful while use on arm instead two. trust me...I know those people too well.
and you lost.
Say that to nick Newell a legit champ in an mma organization with no hand
Johannes Boczek thats why you knock them out early. They can’t guard well so push and use proper boxing techniques. He would be toast
Not fair. They allowed the boxer to use his left hand. The wing chun guy has a 40-0 win-loss record against an armless dummy. He certainly would have won if the boxer were not allowed to use his left hand.
Pinning you for a bit!
to be fair, wing chun dummies usually have three arms (and one leg) so he might have won if it was against a three-armed, one-legged boxer

Fun fact: the one-armed boxer has had a serious injury to his right forearm and has a metal bar that the doctor's couldn't remove. He's not fighting with 1 hand out of disrespect, he literally can't punch with his right arm because the bones would break again.

🤣🤣🤣 did you watch the same fight I did? That "master" had no chance. He's scared also and runs away.
It was the boxer's footwork and head movement that proved to be the undoing of the Wing Chun master. Also, the wind was always at the back of the boxer, and no matter which way the WC master turned, he was always fighting uphill. In addition, there was no broken glass and they weren't on a street, just a red carpet. And no poisonous mushrooms spraying deadly spores, either. So of course, it favored a one-handed boxer.

I love TMA's, including the meditative and relaxation and philosophy aspects of them, I love all of that stuff, I just don't like blowhards who have never sparred, much less fought on the streets, lecturing me about "da streetz" and calling out MMA guys, getting their asses beat by the MMA guys, and then coming up with dozens of evasions and excuses instead of admitting that they were wrong. I mean, zero humility, zero sense of honor, that's not what TMA's are supposed to be about. At least the loud-mouthed Japanese guy who challenged a Gracie down in Brazil and got his butt beaten, later came back and presented said Gracie with an antique helmet or something like that and gave Gracie his due respect. Humility and honor, though the former had to be beaten into him.
Since there are no obstacles on there fight isn't that an advantage for the both of them?

Wing Chun guys always need special conditions to fight, otherwise it affects their wing chun. If you told a boxer, thai boxer or mma practitioner we are fighting here or here. You wouldn't hear them complain and say oh, my boxing won't work there cos I need a ring and gloves, they'd just get on with it. Soon to come ! TWO Brave & Skilled Wing Chun Masters take on a Blindfolded Boxer with BOTH hands tied behind his back !
Chinese Martial arts have been focussing on form over substance for a long time. It was taboo in them old days to mix the martial arts. If you studied Wing Chun under the Sifus it will be viewed as betrayal to learn other forms from other Sifus. Wing Chun was not designed as a combat sport or a fighting form but a self defence art. It was designed for women and to fight at tight spaces. It was not suppose to allow the woman to have a Bei Choy but to allow women to be able to protect themselves over a more powerful person trying to molest them.It was designed for one to buy time for escape. Thus it has very fast and efficient movement just enough to startle some man. But if used against season fighters and gansters it may have a problem unless the woman also fights in combat often and trains herself to do so. Its reputation as an great fighting form is exaggerated in the movies and the myth built around it because of Bruce Lee.
sonnymak but even Bruce Lee was smart enough to realize that wing chun and other traditional martial arts aren’t able to compete with more modern ones. Best thing to realize when you’re watching any martial arts movie of any kind is that it’s still a movie, it’s all choreography and camera work. Those people who argue that Bruce Lee was a god of martial arts just because of his films are just ignorant to the truth and shouldn’t be condemned for their misinformation
The story of the woman is half made up bullshit for marketing.

Here's a video: czcams.com/video/xtQdCuxuWXw/video.html
Sparing in boxing is far different that sparing in 95 percent of martial arts. We spared HARD in boxing. We made sure that our sparing was more hardcore than the fight, itself. The only time that we went light was maybe like 1 day a week and right before the fights so we wouldn't come in there all banged up. We also went light if we spared against someone who had far less experience than we did, mainly because we didn't want to chase off any future prospects. We still spared hard that day, just not with the newbie fighters. The harder you spare, the quicker you learn how to relax while fighting. Relaxing is key in fighting. When you are relaxed, you don't waste your energy. Plus, you are also quicker and faster. However, in order to get there, you NEED to go through some pain. Boxing is not easy, and it's not supposed to be easy. Before I started boxing at age 14/15, I trained in Kenpo Karate. Now, THAT was easy, especially when it came to sparing time. I had fun when I was sparing in Kenpo. However, I didn't have much fun when I first started sparing in boxing. It didn't become fun until years later. This Kungfu master not only didn't know what he was doing, he was stiff as a board, because he wasn't relaxed,...because his sparing was weak...
I’m not surprised by this outcome at all. When people think a name makes them a good fighter.
Is there still a wing chun school after this fight..
I like when boxers exposed the frauds
I'm still waiting to see the Wing Chun Master appears
How heavy is the Boxer?
The boxer fought back and moved, that’s unfair
Having trained in Krav Maga and Keysi, I think I might understand why Wing Chun seems to fail so often :
- The fighters only practice against other wing chun students with the same moves as them. That won’t happen anywhere. Not in the street, not on the ring, nowhere. They should train with other martial artists and fighters to see what they can improve and why fighting only your style is a big problem.
- They are victims of the « over compliant partner ». That’s true for a lot of martial arts and Those I have practiced as well ! It always bugged me because we would do all these elaborate arm locks and so on but our partner would never show any resistance. And that’s not what people do in a fight, they move, they push you, they try to free themselves from your grip with all their strength. So coming back to wing chun, their « logical » way of fighting gets defeated by the chaos of true combat.
I respect Wing Chun and learned neat tricks from a friend who practiced it : the center line and the idea of blocking and countering at the same time. She’s very strong and talented and is very tricky to fight against even though she does wing chun ! Why ? Because she adapted it to be practical. She kept some principles that she saw work and discarded what was hindering her ability to be effective.
In the end, the traditional way of training Wing Chun leads to unprepared and delusional fighters who get surprised by the chaos of the fight which their training never prepared them for.
So spar against other styles, expect chaos and train to fight it, don’t listen to bullshit that will get you hurt or worse but if you love Wing Chun, make it work !
ty for the meaningful longer post
Wing Chun is a nice concept but unable to defy laws of physics afterall
When I was a kid the old folks would say "beware the man with one gun...he probably knows how to use it"....
boards don't hit back
- Sun Tzu The Art of War
This is ridiculous 🤣
hahahaha just a minute hahahaha, NO DEFENCE what so ever lmfao
was that a captain kirk chop towards the end ?
Captain Kirk chop 🤪

he should have gone for the vulcan neck pinch hahaha
or the mind meld , he could of convinced the boxer to let him win lol
What kind of wing chun is that?
When you turn handicap mode on in a game and still get wrecked.
Lmao that "master" flailing around like a 2 year old. Seriously, I've seen little kids with more power behind their slaps.
All Wing Chun training thrown out the window. LOL
tell that to Tony Ferguson and Anderson Silva, who use wing chun in the octagon ;)
@@TheRomanianWolf They have never used any techniques from wing chun. 100% BOXING! You are delusional.
I think Wing Chun is an incredibly interesting martial art and I do believe it does work when it's used as complementary skill of an existing full-contact base such as boxing, muay-thai or kickboxing.
I think it can do well within the trapping range but for any other range, it's not efficient.
only in dreams :D
Honestly, I'd totally watch fights with a Mortal Kombat angle
Rob is cool! he got one thing completely wrong tho, Yu was definitely not humbled! He s still making excuses up to this day!
Whats he saying as excuses?
Alejandro Cano that the organizer didn’t give them enough food for lunch. No joke. I think Jerry covered that interview too. It’s hilarious.
Bro u can't win on saitama.
The wc guy's spirit was crushed from the first time he got dropped by the uppercut.
Impressive 1 hand combat
i think it'd be really interesting to try a BJJ black belt that can only use one hand versus a wing chun master. maybe we could make the bjjer wear a boxing glove on one side and an MMA glove on the other so he can't grip with one hand. Sort of like Art Jimmerson, but without the sucking.
Bjj would win💪
@@arnonabuurs7297 i'm pretty confident of that too. i even think a BJJ purist using only one arm could out strike a wing chun master. There's a video out there somewhere of a BJJ black belt in a hipster costume holding onto a beer mug with one hand tapping a blue belt relentlessly lol
@@elenchus tell that to Tony Ferguson and Anderson Silva, who use wing chun in the octagon ;)

You got it.
Tony: Someone filmed you playing with a wooden dummy once, then a bunch of internet people combed through hours of footage of you trying to find moments that happened to sort of look like wing chun. You're a good sport about it and roll with the joke. Keep relying on Muay Thai and 10P jiujitsu and and you'll go far.
Andy: You actually tried to use wing chun in the ring and each time you did you got rocked. Now Andy, I legitimately really like you. I think you're an interesting person, and you're one of the all-time greats to watch. I really don't like seeing you take an unnecessary pounding just because you want to try out some cool kung fu move, so maybe cut it out.
Wing chung is real. Make no mistake. You can teach fighting without ever fighting. thats the problem.

After seeing a few of these videos I'm confident that an old lady hitting you with a handbag is more dangerous that any wing chun master.
I saw this match already without commentary and there it said that they had a bet that he can beat him one handed. There was nothing about him injuring his arm and not able to use it. Also, as someone who practices boxing, even if you'd injure one arm, you would not use it for striking, but not put it behind your back, like an indian guy eating curry. Where did you get this information from?
His style is to fight against his style. Punches coming at different angles confused him
Having skill and technique is a big part of fighting but if your heart( courage) is not there, then it does you no good
The Boxer was so confident he was playing with Wing Chun guy, he was like I'll beat with one arm behind my back
Somewhere on CZcams there was an amazing fight video where an Aikido master fights Stephen Hawking. The Aikido guy was in the hospital for 4 days afterwards.
