- Episode 10 of my SOBO thru hike of the Pacific Crest Trail takes me across 155 miles over 8 days. I have officially fallen in love with the Northern California section of the PCT. I also start to more deeply feel the effects of camping alone every night.
The views, the stars, the sun! Everything is so beautiful here! I am thrilled I get to share with you the NorCal section!

I made a little mistake in the intro! I said you were joining me at mile 1,153, but the video actually started at mile 998. This episode spans from mile 998-1153! Sorry if that caused any confusion!
It has become such a nice thing to do, to watch your videos every sunday morning, thank you for posting your jorney. It's beautiful.
Aw yay I'm so glad you are enjoying it!!
This is far and away my favorite thru-hiking series I have found. I appreciate all of the hard work it took to make it so beautiful. I hate having to wait a week between episodes!
Glad to hear it's been enjoyable for you!! I wish I could post more frequently too!!
Thank you. I appreciate your honesty about the ups and downs. Keep smiling. Always looking forward to next week's video.
Fantastic, Looking foreword to the next leg of the journey....
Totally enjoying your long format videos of your trek. Thanks for your time putting these together.
"I'm holding my lifesaver because I'm about to eat it" 😂
Story, seems like we hit a lull right around the same time in that section from Etna to Castella. It was inspiring to see how well you dealt with it and how quickly you sprung back. I have a lot to learn from you in that department! Great editing work and I can't wait to see the section I missed coming up
Thanks for sharing, Krysta. I look forward to seeing your videos each week. I needed to hear what you said about highs and lows this morning. Thank you. ❤
Your courage, stamina (mentally AND physically), determination, attitude are amazing! Thank you for being real about your ups and downs. I'm living on the east coast but from the west coast and MISS it so much. Thank you for sharing this trip with us. I'm living it vicariously with you!
Thanks so much! Really glad you are enjoying it!
I enjoy your videos so much. I’m living vicariously through you! I would absolutely love to do some hiking like this but have no idea where to start. Love your journey ❤ it’s so very inspiring.
That last campsite was so stunning! What a beautiful moment to capture and share. :)
So stunning!! And it was lovely to get to share it with one of my trail friends that evening too!
At 19:45 🤩🌸🌸TY for sharing these little gems!
Oops, 14:07++
Another beautiful video, Krysta! Thank you so much taking us along and I just love the music you’ve selected for this episode 🤍
You’re so inspiring. I’m tired, and my hips hurt after two miles. Such wonderful views!
Hi!!! I just started watching your hike videos and love them!! But I’m confused and want to make sure I’m watching the right video!! This one in the comments says episode 9? But the video is labeled episode 10 and seems to have skipped to it? I can’t wait to continue to see your journey along your hike!
Thank you for the heads up and for following along! 😅 title now changed to match the Episode
So sorry for the confusion!! When I was still working on the video it managed to sneak onto my playlist before I was ready!! I have now figured out how to not make that mistake again!
Wow--what a range of Norcal emotions in this episode. So fascinating to see Norcal, or California in general. All my hiking has been in WA and OR so except for Joshua Tree I have done no hiking down there.
NorCal is so wonderful!! Would go back in a heart beat!
Krysta: “Ok, hiked 8 miles…”❤ Me: “OK, I’m done” 😅 i look forward to your videos, Krysta. Thank you.
As always beautiful, love watching your video's. and u get to see a Bear
My favorite series by far!
California! Wonderful content, thank you for sharing your fantastic trail experience!
Really enjoy your videos. Traveling along with you.
Yay I'm so glad!
Another great video!!!
Love your videos Krysta!
Amazing scenery!
12:00. That is really cool!!
Was that a grizzly bear as a teaser for next episode? I would be so, so scared. I remember how scared I was when hiking in British Columbia and I only met black bears then… glad you safely got to the end. x
It's a black bear but with cinnamon coloured fur! I had never seen that before I got to California!
Wow, I had no idea those types of black bears existed. Thank you.
This video has already been posted, I watched it last week.
Yes that was a mistake on my part. I was still working on it and it somehow got added to my playlist even though I hadn't technically posted it yet. So you got the sneak peek of it!! I have figured out how not to make the same mistake again! Thanks for watching so quickly 🥰
What no Field Notes?
Did you need to add longer guy lines to the original durston ones? Following your journey and learning a lot
That is something i did later yes!
How did you make out through the thunderstorm? Did you climb up to the top in the thunder?
Yes I just kept hiking and managed to get over the ridge before it got closer to me thankfully!
What solved your knee problem? Did you regularly need pain killers for the knee or anything else?
Physical therapy
Physical therapy, extra rest days, exercises at night, advil when needed, and listening to my body as much as I could!
On average what is your daily elevation gains?
