Every guitar wants a Dave Gilmour for Xmas.
Every guitar wants a Dave Gilmour for every minute of every day in the future of humankind and the universe.
Brilliant comment. 😄
@@scottbarr2889 dude how high have you been
that's the best description of Mr Gilmore i have ever heard/read 🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣
Genius.
As a lifetime guitarist I can sell you a HUGE musical clue... there will always be " Shred " guitarists... very technical and fast ie. Malmsteen, Rhoades, Van Halen, etc, etc but very few guitarists can play so FEW notes and get the same amount of emotion out if it as David Gilmour. I love the others but Gilmour has a one of a kind ability in " economy " playing.
I believe David said it's not about how many notes you play it's how you play a single note.
I think it's more difficult to play Gilmour and get it to sound right...The way he bends notes perfectly is tough to duplicate 100%. When you shred it's easy to cover up and ignore mistakes...Just my $.02..
less is more
Well said
That’s because Gilmour understands that the music is important as a whole. It’s not about the shredding and going out of the way to make the solo noticeable. It about the solo belonging in the song.
Dogs are businessmen , Pigs are politicians and we the people are the sheep. We are all living in that world.
It will always recycle and repeat!
High school never ends
@@timw8398 👍
In the book, the dogs represent the police. That is something that has always bother me about this song, but it is one of my favorite ones non the less.
I prefer to think of them as:
Pigs: Upper class
Dogs: Middle class
Sheep: Lower/Working class
It's amazing that this was released 47 years ago and it's STILL cutting edge.
"A classic is a work that has never finished saying what it has to say". - This is the definition of a classic given by Italian writer Italo Calvino.
This song corresponds perfectly to this definition, it crosses time without aging.
@thepragmatic6383 great explanation
Bravo
The production of Pink Floyd albums has always been impeccable. You can't tell the albums were recorded 5 decades ago.
I'm 66, and never get tired of Floyd. If I had to pick one artist to listen to till death, it would be Floyd.
animals is absolutely the 1 album u have to listen to in its entirety its about society
Or not!
Three types in this world, Pigs, Dogs, or Sheep. In Roger's view anyway.
Another one telling someone what they have to listen to. You people are sad.
OH, Good Lord!
I’m so tired of whining. In any event, when I was little, I listened to the Beatles’ albums all the way thru and until Pink Floyd was given to me, I never experienced that with any band. Animals, I listened to 3-times and cranked my stereo up loud enough for my parental units to talk all about the album later at dinner…they loved it too, thank God!! But your’e absolutely right! All-At-Once for the message, and to have the full effect. Thanks for your comment!! ❤❤
Well said, Bill
Nick Mason’s drumming is so fabulous,he’s such an unsung hero so thank you for noticing the great man
Nick looks so laid back, chill on the drums. So did Charlie Watts. Despite the "easy" play, their sound was big. Often underrated, but right there with Neil Peart and Bonham who had more aggressive and muscular approach.
‘They take their time with their music and force you to be patient’. What a great way to describe them! Yeah, they don’t hurry. And every time a song takes a turn it always feels like the perfect right time.
The original "jam" band.
Maybe think of it as musical foreplay for the ears.
It's a hallmark of a great bluesman too, they always take their time when they can, and it's often magnificent.
Well said Anthony
Yes, Anthony, Pink Floyd is way too complicated for someone with an attention span of a gnat.......
" and it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around"
What a lyric!
One of Waters' best
Indeed
My favorite was always :
" .. and when they turn their backs on you, you will get the chance to put the knife in .. "
beside sooo many other great lines and of course all these amazing guitar solos. Its just such a masterpiece.
This is where the groove gets so funky. I wish they played the groove in this lyric just a few more bars
A really strong gut punch indeed.
Pink Floyd is not music, is an experience of life...
With your permission, your excellent comment would be even better if you had written "Pink Floyd is not just music, is an experience of life".
@@Gerardius Sorry, English is not my native language but thanks for your suggestion...
Floyd should be a religion
😂😂😂😂😂
Most bands from that era were an experience. A MUSICAL one.
I'm a 63 yr old man Floyd fan all of my life .Thank you for coming into our world. They stike into your soul .
65 here... I agree completely!
Same! Never gets old, unlike us, huh guys! Hahaha
I'm 69 and wasn't into Pink Floyd until my son started listening to them, which led me to start realizing what I had been missing for so many years. "Strike into your soul" is absolutely spot on.
I'm 60 and have been following pink floyd for 50 years. I
put on my Dark side of the moon T on often long live the Floyd
Current music is so formulaic. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin among other bands during that time produced art.
More or less the same was also said at that time when people were only listening to disco or whatever was pushed in the charts then. And today its very much the same, there is still crap in the charts, but there is tons of good music out there, just look at bands like Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, Lovebites, Ad Infinitum, Ancient Bards, Xandria .. and so on ..
@@beldin2987 Yes, I was probably overgeneralizing. There are still some great artists out there but they seem few and far between. I love Hozier’s music. His lyrics are amazing.
@@brandonwilliams957 I guess your from the US, since most of the real great bands these days are from Europe and people from the US are mostly not aware of the fact that there is a world outside their island.
But even back in the days sooo much great bands were from Europe, but at that time mostly from Great Britain, while now its Finnland, Netherland, Germany and even some from Spain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and so on. Oh and of course also Japan, just watch some stuff from "Lovebites" .. they have become my absolute favorite band in the last 6-7 years.
@@beldin2987yeah but there IS a difference. Back then, you didn’t have to look for good music, it was all around you. These days, you have to hunt it down, because none of it’s mainstream.
@ninja_tony the difference IS that you were basically forced to listen to a bunch of horrendous music back then on the radio and now you get to choose it if you want. A lot of garbage music on the radio in every decade.
Animals is one of Pink Floyds quintessential albums. Best listened to from beginning to end. Rock On Stacey!! ❤
Stacey, this album is based on George Orwell's novella, " Animal Farm "
Sorta. It is used as an allegory for the human condition. There are definite allusions to animal traits, but also direct human experiences of certain personalities. A definite blend of ideas.
Yeah... "inspired by" would be more accurate.
Genius!
I remember being 15 getting stoned with my friends then laying on the bed with the black light on and my headphones on listening to pink floyd. The 70s and 80s were the best
I wish i grew up your time not and not being 17 now
Lucky weren't we grandad?
Regards
She is a certified Floyd Head... she has fallen in the rabbit hole. Love watching her reactions as you can see she genuinely loves all the right parts and cries at the perfect times. She understands the Floyd effect and I love it.
Pigs - Elite politicians and oligarchs. Dogs - Ruthless businessmen. Sheep - Us.
what he said
there are no other type of 'businessman' they are all crooks, or they are failures. You should never trust one.
Sheep - You. The animal not discussed in the modern context is something more like a wolverine. Really pissed off at the bullshit going on, ready to just slay the opposition. FAFO.
@@g54b95 More like a bald eagle; Outwardly representative of the USA, but in reality more scavenger than hunter. Go back to posting pictures of the Joker transposed with Andrew Tate quotes. No one is afraid of your impotent rage.
@@g54b95 I second the motion!
To be true to the album, "Pigs(Three different Ones)" should be your next Animals reaction. I would love to hear it.
Yep pigs is by far my favorite from this album
she should also read the lyrics while listening to it
YES!
I was lucky enough to hear Pink Floyd perform this entire album in concert at Cleveland stadium, with 80,000 friends. It was so much more than a concert…it was a major cultural event. That show will live in my memory forever.
Was also at Cleveland stadium concert and 100% agree that it was the the best audiovisual and out of body experience performance that I have witnessed in my 65 yrs. Of listening to music.
I was also there; June 25th 1977.Cleveland Municipal stadium. There were actually 97,000 people there. That was the reported ticket sales for that concert. Remember their jet flying sooo low over the stadium to open the show? They got fined BIG TIME for that!! They were banned from playing in Cleveland for a long while for that one. The GIANT PIG, The herd of sheep floating down into the crowd shot from cannons in the upper corner of the stadium... THE WHOLE SHOW WAS EPIC!!! Met people there from Buffalo, Detroit, Canada,,and all over Ohio.
There is a recording of the whole concert on CZcams. The in the flesh tour Cleveland 1977.
The show in Philadelphia on this tour is where Roger Waters had his little bout with hepatitis. Thats where the lyrics for COMFORTABLY NUMB came from!!
I saw them in early 78 in Rotterdam play this album. The giant pig got stuck halfway over the crowd.
David Gilmour has a new single. Piper's Call. Still recording new album at the age of 78 years old.
My favorite Pink Floyd Album !
I feel there's a general gradient to Floyd albums. I loved The Wall as a disobedient youth. In my 20s I was all about Dark Side, Wish You Were Here in my 30s. Now, in my 40s I finally have the patience for Animals.
What’s lovely for me and every other PF fan with watching these reaction vids is watching the emotion roll over their face to a solo or a Gilmour vocal and them for the very first time falling in love with the band we’ve all been in love with for years. It’s clear to us all Stacey is a new Floyd fan and that gives me and others so much happiness because you’re now “one of us”. x
Bravo!!
commentary on society class , David sang the first part, Roger sang the2nd half
Pink Floyd is therapy for mature adults.
No other band remotely like them and thank F for that.
Yet ANOTHER iconic British mega band.
These sounds were made by the wonderful Richard Wright, the keyboardist/pianist
Richard Wright gave me a tape copy of DSOTM, OK a different Richard Wright but it was his name.
I love playing this song when my dogs are in the room, they always react to the barking/howling sounds while the acoustic is playing.....
If my cat is at home, she stares me down with the most annoyed expression.😾 Like, why tf.are you putting on this when I'm trying to sleep? 🐈
Same!!! Hahaha
This is my favorite Pink Floyd album, I saw Les Claypool and his band perform it in its entirety last year and it was brilliant.
My heart rate genuinely increased when I realized that you finally reacted to Dogs! Definitely my favorite Pink Floyd song!
Same, brother. Same.
"the song is a journey" That is a GREAT way to put it
Go Stacey...astute reaction. . I Love this album...it's Nick Mason's best work and Rick Wright is in top form.
When this album first came out, my gf and I were at a friend's place listening to music. He didn't have this but asked if we had heard the Pink Floyd Animals album and highly recommended it. Next morning before I woke up, my gf had gone out and bought the record. She came home and started playing it. I woke up like I was still in some kind of dream, the sound was so amazing and hypnotic. Eventually, realizing I was not dreaming, I came out to find out what it was and she showed me the Pink Floyd Animals album cover. It was an amazing experience
I can totally relate to your experience
In 1977 my brother brought Animals home. As a 9 year old I became a Pink Floyd fan.
When you're old like me, this song has different meaning. Life is so short. Then you have to join the rest
I hear ya, friends of mine, when I had this 8-track are now dropping left and right, so sad. . .
the lead vocal up to the long instrumental with the dog sounds (done by richard wright's synths) was David Gilmour & after the long break was Roger Waters. This is David Gilmour's best guitar work of any album in my opinion. My 2nd favorite PF album after dark side of the moon, 3rd is Wish You Were Here.
This I like to call a rock opera album. Love your comments.
15/7/89 I was in venice for the best concert fovever, but listen dark side and echoes, legendary music
As you said, this is music that makes you listen. All music should be made for listening. This is a lesson lost on the vast majority of modern 'music'. Patience is a virtue in more ways than one.
When the song switches up and that guitar solo drops.....my god
Welcome to The Machine - Pink Floyd is a Dark Band, there music reflects hard times and the difficulties of life.
The album is bookended with pigs on the wing, but the three primary pieces are each epic in scale and grandeur, each completely different than the other yet flow together seamlessly. Absolutely brilliant
David is truly a wonderful man. Spends alot of his time helping the needy and used to teach disabled kids guitar
I'm 68 and grew up with pink Floyd . I'm so glad you experienced dogs. The barking was done on Richard wrights key board. As usual Stacey you did a stellar reaction. Keep them coming pretty lady.
I saw them in Madison Square Garden during the Animals tour. Just an outstanding concert!
There are many amazing guitarist's in this world but none can get too you like Dave Gilmour does!!! Sometimes it reaches to your core so much it almost seems he is playing only too you and only for you!!! The man is a genius!!!
When PF were shooting the album cover, the pig took flight, flew out of London, and eventually landed in a field in Kent.
Actually shut down London Heathrow Airport for a bit
HA! BRILLIANT!!!😂
And a very puzzled farmer found it!
Beautiful the barking and the cry of young dogs created by Wright with synth from 13:50. Great.
Once a Floyd fan always a fan. Their music never gets old, matter of fact, each time you listen to their songs, you get more out of them… it’s always an experience
Pink Floyd, es todo un arte de la buena música 🎵👍🏻 Brillante David Gilmour 🎸
The album is PF’s take on Orwell’s “Animal Farm”. Great job, Stacey!
*Mr. Carlson (Station Manager):* "Do I hear dogs barking on that thing?"
*Dr. Johnny Fever (DJ):* "I do...."
_-WKRP In Cincinnati_
Funny part about that scene was it was during the part of the song AFTER the barking dog effect had already stopped sounding like a dog and was more obviously morphed into choppy organ chords, but still sounded like distant barking.
One of my favorite tracks of all time. One of Floyd's best! Great transitions and epic finale. RIP Richard Wright.
David Gilmour’s guitar parts are like conversations within the music…emoting and telling a story and sometimes conversing with the other instruments…especially with the keyboards. It’s so cool watching you react to these songs. I’m living vicariously through you because even though I’ve been listening to these songs for 30+ years it’s like I’m hearing them for the first time again watching you getting so much joy out of their music. You really get it which is nice.
Lyrics are amazing! "If I don't stand my own ground..how can I find my way out of this maze?!"
Us and Them through Eclipse Live at Pulse was brilliant.
This bands music is solid like a tree trunk, producing new branches with uniquely beautiful blossoms.
I really appreciate how you take your time to give respectful comments and you'd make a great ambassador of their music. Props to another outstanding review by Stacey! You are by far the best reactor of Pink Floyd.
thank you so much for your kind words!!
Watching the *Manner* in which you enjoyed this song tells me you're ready for the group YES. I believe they would become an instant favorite for you if you haven't already turned on to them
Owner of a lonely heart wow
@@markbright684 That is great song, but I feel their true masterpiece is Roundabout.
Peter Gabriel genesis?
I would go with. "And You And I", "South Side Of The Sky"
Siberian Khatru
That middle atmospheric part always brings a vivid visual feeling. The self absorbed ruthless guy, with a stone attached, slowing sinking, underwater, I almost hear like a “sonar” sound. For me it represents him sinking, getting lower and lower and more hopeless.
YES! ART!
some of the best guitar work period
Some context of the album Animals and the songs meanings:
Loosely based on George Orwell's political fable Animal Farm, the album's lyrics describe various classes in society as different kinds of animals: the predatory dogs, the despotic ruthless pigs, and the "mindless and unquestioning” herd of sheep. Whereas the novella focuses on Stalinism, the album is a critique of capitalism and differs again in that the sheep eventually rise up to overpower the dogs. The album was developed from a collection of unrelated songs into a concept which, in the words of author Glenn Povey, "described the apparent social and moral decay of society, likening the human condition to that of mere animals"
These dogs are the cutthroat businessmen who feel they “have to be trusted by the people that [they] lie to / So that when they turn their backs on [the dogs] / [they]'ll get the chance to put the knife in”.
So loosely based that they pretty much have opposite messages regarding who the bad guys are....
Thank you.Somebody knows what the albums about. Finally take care daryl in chicago
And "Mother" also from The Wall, made me cry so much... how much I cried with that song...
I think you would really be interested in a group called Porcupine Tree or the solo work of their lead singer Steven Wilson . As a Floyd fan for over 50 years you are right there will never be the like again but the nearest in the last 20 years or so I have found is Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson .
Ohohoh Stacey! I really start loving you more with each day and reaction (you are exactly as emotional as me when it comes to music - and I am a hobby musician of many genres), you do a phantastic job!!!! I was just watching something else on CZcams and what do I see?! You did Dogs! Oh myyyyy Animals has been my all time fav album since I first heard it in school in 1985. Now I have to tell you a little story:
One year later I was in London for a school exchange from our Swiss high school and found out, that this "factory" on the cover was there, but had no idea where exactly. And don't forget, that was before the internet! On my last day in the city I spotted the smokestacks in the background, took a look at the map and saw it: Battersea Power Station. I grabbed my friend who wanted to become a photographer and forced him to come with me to the trip south of the Thames. After a one hour walk through the seediest neighbourhood I ever saw til then (I was a 17 year old Swiss schoolboy :D) we arrived there. It was abandoned, so we climed the fence and took some pics. Since then I regularly came back to London and no trip, if shopping, theater, business related or visting friends is complete for me without visiting "the factory". Nowadays it's not recognizable anymore as it is one of the most posh and modern neighbourhoods of the city.
As Dogs is most of Side 1 of the album, you could have done the whole concept with Pigs and Sheep on Side 2 :D
Another clue: It is modeled after the Book by George Orwell, Animal Farm.
I absolutely love Pink Floyd. I listen to Animals weekly.
A similar band that is more modern would be Porcupine Tree. Check out "Arriving Somewhere But Not Here", the live version.
My favorite Pink Floyd song. David's guitar playing in this is amazing.
Animals came out when I was in high school and is still one of my favorite albums of all time
Animals was released the day after I was born.
I saw Pink Floyd playing Animals in Frankfurt at my 20th birthday !
My favorite song off of my favorite album of all time ....... takes me back to winter 1977. Many nights over friend's houses listening & making memories. Thank you for another dose of nostalgia!!
I like the albumcover. It's Battersea Power Station in London. You can see a pig floating between the chimneys. They had a giant inflatable pig on a rope for a photo, but the rope snapped and the pig went up in the sky, later reported by a pilot...
Hey Stacey !!! Yes Yes Yes Dogs So cool !!! Pink Floyd the masters !!!! Spiritual experience !!! Kiss kiss kiss 🥰🥰🥰🥰 Hello Cat 😻😻😻Hello You You 😊😊😁!!!!!
“And you believe everyone at heart is a killer” what a line
I have be listening to music 🎶 for over 50 years 👂💯🎵🎶🎼☯️☯️☯️☯️☯️☯️☯️☯️☯️
Dogs represents law enforcement
Pigs represents our political leaders
Sheep represents everyday civilians.
Pink floyd is one of a kind. My personal favorite of there catalog
Dogs are law enforcement in Orwell's Animal Farm, but in this song they represent ruthless businessmen.
DOGS ARENT LAW THE ARE THE RUTHLESS PEOPLE ON THIS PLANET
This is David Gilmore's least favorite album of the ones they made. He said that in an interview I saw. Sorry to break it but that's how it is. (if it matters) He doesn't like it but I do.
@@leer8321 well David is wrong wow I said that!
@@leer8321 IKR IM SAD BUT DAVID CAN SURE PLAY THIS STUFF LOL
I saw an interview with David Gilmour where he said that Animals album is his favourite guitar tone out of all the Pink Floyd albums. I enjoyed your reaction and hope you do more Floyd soon.
Dog barks are the Keyboards. Phenomenal band!!!!!!
This Album is really one track , it segues all the way through , I love this particular Album it is my favourite Floyd Album , by Day Light , , just another sad old man , all alone and dying of Cancer , Dogs in the back ground , the human condition, DRAGGED DOWN BY THE STONE , , What an Album it's trick . RARARA
Where do I start with this masterpiece. It has been deeply ingrained life for 20 years. When I was in high school I would go to sleep to this song playing on my surround sound I built in my bedroom every night for years. It was part of my nighttime ritual. It is up there as one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs ever. More recently however I played this song while I was putting to sleep my beloved 16yo pit Bull Bean Sprout. I haven’t been able to listen to the song since that day 6 months ago. Thank you Stacey for helping reintroduce it back into my life with such appreciation and joy. This song NEVER gets old and is the definition of infectious. I can’t wait to see your reaction to the rest of this incredible album. BTW please research Roger Waters, he is the brain child of nearly all Pink Floyd and half the vocal genius on this song. He also wrote the whole album.
Dog - Opportunistic and ruthless businessmen, screwing everybody over and living the high life, but ultimately dying alone with no friends or family.
Atom Heart Mother was my introduction to Pink Floyd. I'm 63 now, and still many times musically, only Pink Floyd will suffice. The fact that PF can deep dive into subjects like death, human struggle, insanity and addiction, war and corruption yet wrap it in such beautiful music is magnificent and unique. They soothe my soul and I hope yours also.
Love your reaction and enjoying vicariously your first listen to Dogs from Animals. My first listen to Pink Floyd was after riding my bicycle (too young to drive) to buy the album Dark Side of the Moon when it came out. I have been getting so much joy essentially rediscovering this music that I first heard as a young person through the reactions of young people today listening for the first time.
Our collective experience of Pink Floyd indeed renders their music "timeless", and in essence bonds our generations to a degree. Thanks for featuring Pink Floyd, I really enjoyed it.
Great insight by the way regarding what you said about how Pink Floyd brings you along at their pace which you have to be patient with, but always worth the reward.
BEST SONG ON THIS ICONIC ALBUM. So proud of you analyzing lyrics now. Your growing.
Floyd is emotional. Not sure how you’ve been able to not just go thru every album by now, and just skip the reviews. You are a full fledged Floydian now. Dogs is top 5 Floyd song.
its been really hard! i cant wait to film my full album reactions!
I love how you use the name floydian because that’s what I use to describe a floyd fan supporter
For me it’s their best song. Not a massive fan of pink floyd but Dogs is something else.
Impossible to build a top 5. Seriously.
Im aguitarist of 36plus years and this is one of my favorite songs i covered sooo many times it never gets old.
The folks below are all giving you good clues to the music. Once Dark Side came out they were thrown into the musical world of the music business touring worldwide and being taken advantage of. The album "Wish You Were Here" started the bands "hatred" of the music business. This album takes that idea feeling hate for the music business to a peak. Dogs represents the people who are pushing the band in order to fill their greedy bags with money from PF. You are right on about the song "record business individuals and their greed" plus your thoughts about who they were talking about. Cheers, K
I saw Pink Floyd Animals Tour live in Tampa Stadium, Tampa Fla. back in the day! They had speakers on all four sides and a big pig floating over the stage, the ticket said "An Even of Sight and Sound with Pink Floyd" 😎
I saw this concert in Montreal in the late 70"s
Same in Denver! Outdoors! AMAZING!
My brother was at that concert. I wasn't invited. He's 10 yrs older than me and took a girl.
Had a buddy’s older brother introduce this album to me and my other friends. Smoke some reefer(yes I’m old) turn off the lights and listen to this entire album. Good times 😁
Love your Floyd reactions. You have the best way of explaining & expressing what their songs mean to the majority of fans including yourself. The only reaction I’m waiting for from you is “coming back to life” another guitar solo for the soul. Keep up the great reactions Stacey ❤
GEN X!!!!,the luckiest generation ever and will never be equaled!!!.🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
Us OLD BOOMERS!!!
The first album I ever owned. Careful...it is addicting!
Careful with that axe, Eugene 😉
My favorite Floyd
who was given a pat on the back who was breaking away from the pack lyrics are amazing
Your comments on the vocals are spot on, they're excellent. Actually, the lead vocals were split between David Gilmour and Roger Waters on this song. Roger sings lead on the middle section of the song, while David sings lead on the rest of it.
Roger sings the final movement not the middle.
Ahh Stacey your Pink Floyd journey progresses nicely, so unless you’re an amazing actress your facial expressions and in some cases your tears give you away as someone who appreciates and feels this music. I sincerely hope you continue till you’ve exhausted all possible PF content. Your open mindedness to experience this artistic production does you credit, on a more personal not it’s good to see you smile when a particular passage really hits your feels.
Good guessing on the lyrics. The dogs are the businessmen. You have to remember this was written for the time they were living in the UK. Which is helpful for pigs.
I really hope that as you do this (which is actually for views) that you get a genuine respect for the brilliance of Pink Floyd. Great to see young people still listen to proper music❤
I had a dog who would bark and howl when I played this track.
I first got into PF 35 years go and have worn out many of my original vinyl albums, I have decided to complete getting the remastered versions. I chose to keep the 1977 mix rather than the 2018 one as that is the version I love.
I had a chihuahua pug mix and he would run around barking with his hair all puffed up ready to kick some butt! Unfortunately it was before videos were so popular.
The moment you listen to this, and realize that there were no dogs barking, only David rubbing strings on his guitar while playing with the wha wha peddle, is the moment minds are blown. This song was supposed to be on the Wish You Were Here album. Its original name was 'You Got to be Crazy' and was removed from the list of songs for Wish You Were Here after Syd's visit. This composition was meant to be one of the 3 compositions to follow up Darkside of the Moon, as the band wasn't happy with Darkside and felt they left a lot to be improved on. At the end of the Darkside tour, they played some gigs in Europe for nearly 2 years, working on these 3 compositions which they had planned on making an album with them. The Animals album is their epic form IMHO.
Love the reactions, remember to keep a watch for pigs on the wings.
I can see that.... I can see them being at odds with Darkside, despite it being so enormously popular.. I can see them considering DSoM too.. radio friendly maybe.. too accessible too pop even. which is why Animals is such a ..oh.. such a F.U. to the record and music industry.. and label as they were undoubtedly pushing for more radio friendly songs and Animals is anything but that. For me - Pompeii (the first one) is Pink at their height.. at their most powerful.. playing an empty stadium even
Actually there ARE actual dog tracks in the first part but eventually was mixed with synths as the song goes on.
"The Animals album is their epic form IMHO" Exactly Correct!
Some actual dogs, but mostly Richard Wright on keys. Not Gilmour.
Yes, they take their time but they also deliver the goods
Every sunday is saved when Stacey uploads a PF reaction 😁
DOGS - PIGS - SHEEP are conceptually connected. They are a sort of trilogy, brilliantly executed. Which one is better? Difficult to say. It probably depends on each person's musical taste. In my view, Sheep is the best.
