yea I know exactly what you mean man. When I first got back into the hobby in 2018, my goals were way too big. Over the years, after gaining experience, I've really learned what cards are most important to me, which has helped me focus on what to prioritize. Otherwise it's too easy to get distracted and get lost in the sauce, and then next thing you know - you've spent a bunch of money, but aren't as satisfied with your collection as you thought you would be. I've learned that for me, quality > quantity is definitely important.
You’re much better at explaining what I was thinking than I was in this video! Haha you got back 2018? Thats awesome. Did you own any cards high value cards that spiked in value in 2020?
yea I was lucky to sneak in when I did and collect for like 1.5 years before the boom. It basically tripled the value of my collection. Nothing crazy, but some cards that stand out are a PSA 9 Karen's Umbreon from VS series that I got for $100. PSA 9 Raikou 1st ed from Neo Rev for $180. Some of the tagteam alt arts I got super cheap like Magikarp&Wailord for $20. A just dozens of vintage or mid era cards that I paid $5-20 each, that became $20-100 each. It was also way easier to find raw NM wotc holos, so I was able to complete base/jungle/fossil binder for maybe half the price it is now. But it's also crazy to look back and remember all the deals that I could of got, that I didn't realize at the time because I was just too inexperienced. And for sealed I only kept a few XY/S&M blisters, I didn't even consider collecting booster boxes because no content creators were talking about it back then. @@eddcollects
@@purpleraikou That's so cool! I purchased some YuGiOh cards back in 2012. I wanted to relive the nostalgia of dueling my younger brother, it never occurred to me to revisit Pokemon Cards until COVID. But growing up I had a few and I was lucky enough to go see the first 3 movies in the theaters as a kid. It was big part of my childhood so now I'm working my way through those sets.
@@eddcollects I use it all the time to cut hard plastics. It comes out clean. Doesn’t need to be a big saw. Just a little circular saw with a blade for less than $100

i do the same 😬 i just love binder vintage collection
Me too! Especially in these 4 x 3 binder were you can see all your holos without turning the page!
I would recommend covering the slab in a towel when cracking cause that shrapnel will go everywhere
Good suggestion, I’ll do that next time.
yea I put mine in a plastic bag when I crack them
Just buy a saw with a diamond blade. So much easier to open
Have you used that before?

@@FictionalPersonality I may have to try that out! Thanks for the feedback.
Lol
@@FictionalPersonalityno saw dust? I wouldn’t want to get dust on the holo and potentially scratch the holo while attempting to remove the saw dust
