Sorry but I cant see this as just fun and it being a cultural thing, it was obviously also a distracting tactic how can anyone play their best serve with the excessive booing? It made any match against Brazil quite sad to watch, I felt so bad for the other teams :/
I haven't habit (of booing) but I understand that thing doesn't have the same meaning as elsewhere. The boos wasn't dedicate to offend anyone. In beach volleyball, the noise and boos was too much intense and it wasn't trouble to the women's duo from Germany. Similarly, the Chinese volleyball female team didn't bother with boos. At the end, the best team/athlete won - ALL SPORTS. Again: the boos aren't statically beautiful but not offenses like swearing or nothing that preclude the athlete to do their best. If I were a athlete I couldn't blame a bad result because of this. Sincerely.

Luiza Mello Na verdade, não. A minha cultura é a mesma que a sua. Também sou brasileiro... KKK. Mas não concordo que esse "ritual" das vaias expresse um caráter cultural do povo brasileiro. Conheço vários compatriotas meus que também se sentiram envergonhados por conta dessa postura desrespeitosa com os nossos visitantes. Existe uma coisa universal no esporte, chamada "fair play". Vaiar é uma forma de desestabilizar o rival emocionalmente, fazendo, assim, com que ele não consiga dar o seu melhor diante dos rivais. Por isso é que é injusto. A verdadeira antítese do "fair play", ou jogo limpo.

I'm brazilian and I feel a little uncomfortable with this _in-game booing_ against other teams, but I understand it's part of our culture. I know that it's *nothing personal* against the italians or any other team, it's *not* an act of displeasure, disapproval or discontent by the brazilians: it is just a way of expressing how we are cheering for our national team and how we don't want the other team to win, lol. That's just that. It's not _booing_ as other cultures conventionally see/understand/interpret it. One clear proof of what I've just stated: notice how at 02:33:00 the same brazilian crowd *applauses the italian team* and at 02:33:38 this same brazilian crowd also roots and cheers for Italia by screamming _Itália! Itália! Itália!_... By the way, I see a lot of _booing_ in other countries and I think it's worse, because when other peoples boo *they really mean it*, it's not just cheering as we do in Brazil. When the game ends, these booing crowds don't applaud the team that they were booing, precisely because they were really expressing discontent by the other team. At least here in Brazil our booing is just for the game: after the match we cheer and applaud everyone. I prefer this _healthy_ boo that we brazilians do. PS: that french guy was booed because he's an asshole who made uncalled harsh statements about Brazil and brazilians. That's why he was booed when he was at the podium and IMO it was well deserved. O vissoto foi campeão mundial, tem um alcance no ataque de 3,70m e bloqueia a 3,45m, acho que o Bernardo ainda tem que colocar ele para jogar, nas olimpiadas de Londres o 1º jogo contra a Rússia, com o Vissoto, vencemos por 3X0 e na final com o Walace, por causa de lesão do Vissoto, perdemos de 3x2, mas o Wallace, nessa olimpíada jogou muito, mas acho que Lipe nesse time, fez a diferença com seus pontos de saque. Ainda bem que o Bernardo acertou na escalação, ele fez certo em tirar o Murilo, que não vinha jogando bem e colocou o Lipe, que foi fundamental, para esse ouro, o Walace foi o melhor jogador da olimpíada, mas o Lipe era o jogador que faltava, para gente voltar a ser campeão depois de tantas pratas.

Jogador profissional de qualquer esporte que se desestabiliza com vaia é muito amarelão (exceto alguns esportes que já é tradição ou regra ficar em silêncio, por ex. Tenis e Tenis de Mesa)
lembro no campeonato mundial, em 2010, na Itália, os italianos fizeram de tudo pra pegar caminho fácil, o brasil percebeu e fez o mesmo pra dificultar a chave deles, mas foram derrotados contra o brasil por 3 a 1 na semifinal com muitasss vaias pra gente. essas reclamações das vaias é papo de perdedor, esses países não admitem o brasil derrotá-los tampouco reconhecer como superior a eles...

Brasileiros reclamam da falta de patrocínio po exemplo. Mas quando você observa o exemplo de Katie Ledeck que recusou patrocínios milionários para continuar seu estudo na Universidade. .. Então dá pra ver que muitos brasileiros reclamam... Nos EUA as pessoas treinam primeiro antes de requerer apoio . Potanto se eu quero ser um atleta eu tenho que treinar muito para tentar uma boa colocação por exemplo numa corrida de ruas.

Italy was best team for two weeks, except in last day. They lost a lot of energies in semi-final vs USA, Birarelli was at 50% because injuried at ankle, and other middle blocker Piano was broken previously. This was the worst Brazil of last 6-7 years, Lucarelli was injuried, but with experience,crowd and some referee's help they won. Brazil that lost vs Russia in 2012 was far better.

Brazilian crowd is so rude, it's not that a good showing of sportsmanship to boo the Italian while serving. They did it all throughout the game. They are the host country so they must be the one to show support to all athletes. They are not a welcoming crowd.

Vaiar é falta de fair play e entregar o jogo para o Brasil ficar fora é muito fair play. A Italia depois da década de 90 virou freguês do Brasil e nas fases finais de qualquer campeonato foge do Brasil. Quem acompanha voleibol sabe disso. Jogador profissional de qualquer esporte que se desestabiliza com vaia é muito amarelão (exceto alguns esportes que já é tradição ou regra ficar em silêncio, por ex. Tenis e Tenis de Mesa)
lembro no campeonato mundial, em 2010, na Itália, os italianos fizeram de tudo pra pegar caminho fácil, o brasil percebeu e fez o mesmo pra dificultar a chave deles, mas foram derrotados contra o brasil por 3 a 1 na semifinal com muitasss vaias pra gente. essas reclamações das vaias é papo de perdedor, esses países não admitem o brasil derrotá-los tampouco reconhecer como superior a eles...

Italy was best team for two weeks, except in last day. They lost a lot of energies in semi-final vs USA, Birarelli was at 50% because injuried at ankle, and other middle blocker Piano was broken previously. This was the worst Brazil of last 6-7 years, Lucarelli was injuried, but with experience,crowd and some referee's help they won. Brazil that lost vs Russia in 2012 was far better.
