    Well done Kevin and Wendy. A lovely part of the world to go from Island to Island.

      Indeed. The sailing here is epic, to say the least.

    Happy anniversary guys.
    Marigot bay is most definitely a slice of paradise, I loved it there.
    If you walk up the steep hill you find a local bar that is owned by the same guy that has a bar in the bay, only the prices are half up there.

      Hi DG. We're back in Antigua getting things prepped for 2023/24 season. As for the bar at Marigot, we were told about it but haven's made the trek. How are things on your end? Have Simon and Kim sold Britican yet?

    "You couldn't get your fenders overboard if you didn't have me". Every sail woman needs to say that to there captain. I like that.

      Hi Robert. Wendy rocks in every way. But she's frustrated right now because it's raining and she can't do the bottom paint she had on her list. Oh well. We're back in Antigua doing prep for 2023/24.

    Congrats Wendy and Kevin. You're both amazing and beautiful together! Quite the impressive clipper, I had to pause the video. Nice work maneuvering Talisman to the mooring ball! Thanks for sharing, God bless!

      Thanks for the kind words Greg. And thanks for being with us. I'm a bit surprised how many viewers stuck around to the end.

    Remember me JAMIE I repaired your generator in Saint Lucia at Rodney Bay Marina

      @SailingTalisman  Před 10 měsíci

      Hi Jamie. Great to hear from you. Generator still going strong, except raw water pump seals went bad for something like the fourth time. Installing a new raw water pump as we speak. Anyway, thanks for reaching out. How are things in St Lucia these days?

    How much do you (have to) pay these mooring buoy guys for their service?

    • @SailingTalisman
      @SailingTalisman  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I try to figure it as a % of the total cost of the ball. In places like the BVI, a ball costs about $35 USD. Elsewhere, it can be cheaper, but when you're paying in EC's, or Eastern Caribbean Currency, it's a conversion of XCD 2.7 to the US$. So $35 USD becomes XCD $95, and that sounds crazy expensive (but it's not). I think the weaker XCD hurts the locals and makes it harder for them to get paid well in XCD. What I see happening is that services that are more professional, like rigging and mechanical repairs, are priced in USD, since it sounds like less. So giving the Boat Boy guy $20EC is only really $7.40 US. A good hourly wage if you get a lot of cruisers looking for a ball, but they still have to pay for gas in the dinghy. We pay on the upper side of the range because it keeps everybody happy.
