This guy is doing exactly what William Miller did.
'One day as a thousand years' doesn't mean 1 day = 1000 years
because using that faulty logic and reading the next verse 1000 years = 1 day.
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing: that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
But here's the next verse that he didn't bother with because it would give context,
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance.
So Peter is saying; I know you have been waiting; and are waiting for his coming, but ... and although it's been a long time; time is at a different level with God
and he is patient to wait for all, so 'ALTHOUGH IT'S BEEN A WHILE, HE HASN'T FORGOTTEN YOU'.
