Yo my man , as usual FIRE BEAT....I wanted to know is there really a huge difference between 404A & 404Sx ?
Joss Orloff the A syncs with the Roland sequencer for live performance:) buy the cheap used one on eBay ;)
Marlow Digs - mpc head you’re gonna have to change you name to sp head cause this is sick!
The limitations of your hardware always force a new level of creativity!
@@artisans8521 Good points for sure!
I love the sp404 I play music straight through it and it just makes things sound better
digging these videos!
the SP is a tough beast and i am definitely an MPC guy, but i learned to sample and loop on an SP404. my ear got a lot better as a result haha
Watching people work on the SP is like watching somebody do witchcraft
This sounds like quintissential NY beat. Cheers, man.
✌🏼
I’m a owner of the Sp404sx. It would be nice to see how you transfer your beat over to the MPC live and arrange it.
Bro this is inspiring for me I'm a beginner to the mpc live world but I just love how you guys just want to understand the piece of equipment that you're working with hope to be like you one day on mpc live my dude appreciate the video dope
Thank you for the words bro, all the best for you.
Underdawg herb Me 2 yo I just bought that shi this week.
Beautiful.
This was an awesome one. Very chill and inspiring!!!!
love how this came out, that lofi vibe sounding so good!
Thanks for putting this together! Great video.
Beautiful mood and lovely ideas my man, thankyou
It's dope to see you rocking with the SP!! You did a great job. Really nice, mellow vibes with this. I love my 404, it literally changed my life!!
So cool, hope that we can get more content on the SP !
Amazing✨
Great Video! Once you've used the 404 religiously for a year, it's a breeze. It has its pros & cons but they are very fun to use.
That was dope, especially because it inspired some lyrics!
I like this Channel, cool info & jams
Thanks for being so thorough with this demonstration.
Another dope video!!! ✊🏼✊🏼🔥
I’ve been feeling very uninspired lately so I’ve been digging into your videos, I have an SP and this is making me want to dig in- thanks man. Also dig the name change and that you’re focusing on different areas it’s cool!
Nice! Indeed... limitation sparks creativity. 👍🏼
sick as always...
Solid beat! Got me wanting an SP again.
Good stuff
Originally came here to learn the workflow of the mpc since my 404 effects knob died on me. Gotta say it’s really cool to see you on a 404! Makes me miss mine a lot!
keep up the videos man, been making beats for years but your vids are entertaining and chill
I always look forward to Wednesday because of you. Make hump day go straight smooth. 🙏🏻🙏🏻 @mpchead The Best !!
🙏 thanks just having some fun with the SP
love Bill Evans
thanks for this - well said, agree with everything you're sayin & doin
Great Beat and Video Marco
I've never actually tried an SP-404 out. Would be dope to test out. I got the MPC Live and I'm loving it. Another dope Vinyl Wednesday. Thanks again!
Always keep coming back to this one. Love Bill Evans and love this beat man 👍
Thanks bro ✌🏼
Awesome sample. This is a solid track. 404a very capable.
The thing about these 404s is that they have a sound, a good one. I use mine for the vinyl warp and other effects. Also capturing basic stereo samples to mess with.
Wooden Penny doe these have batteries for travelling? Been looking at the mc101 too?
Luke&Line They do.
Very dope. Props to all sp users. I gotta grab one
Love these videos man, like how you break away from the ‘loop culture’ of beat making, not that that’s a bad thing, by using chops instead
Some quality content man. Nice beat also!
Thankfully the 404 mk2 has sorted all this tedious chopping and many other things out! Can’t wait for mine to arrive
Got it yesterday, man it's like a whole different machine. Only the sequencer is still lacking a bit.
@@mpchead yea I hear that! I’m gonna be sequencing mine with the mpc anyway. I do that with my 404a. My mk2 isn’t arriving till February tho 😭😭😭
tight work!!!!!
This was creative!
Really, nice bro. You made the SP sound just as good as the mpc live 👊🏾 nice chops
Mano Likidu, está muito bom e bonito este beat!!!
nice man, thank you
I came across your channel when i was looking into the AKAI 500 which im still considering to buy but now that you posted this up of the Roland i feel like it might be a better fit for me. I'm a Maschine user so im at the point where im comfortable with my current workflow but i like your suggestion in getting out of one's comfort zone. I love the DAWless flow of this unit. I could definitely use a break from starting at a computer screen and simply making music anywhere i want to. Thanks again for uploading this! You just got yourself another subscriber. Looking foorward to more Vinyl Wednesdays
Hot! Love it
Dope
Really UK Style Trip Hop Felling
💯
This is why i love wednesday
Class
Damn that looked like hard work. Great job. Wasn't sure about the chops and drums at first but when they all came together... perfect.... :-) Was thinking of playing around with a hardware sampler like the SP but enjoying my Ableton comfort zone too much at the moment... definitely enjoying the videos with different gear.
Thanks for watching, Ableton is a comfortable place to be.
🔥 🔥
Brother, after a while of struggling with the SP I made a beat I like finally just after watching your video .Thank you
👌🏼perfect
thx
Sounds so good at 5:00 man! ✌️
I’ve had an 404 for a little over a month now and the mark button hack is gonna speed up my workflow. I’ve spent hours just chopping through samples lmao.
Like, share, comment - done. Great episode, man.
🙏 thank you
this is so sick, that sample is crazy , been wanting an sp for the longest but havnt made just enough for it
keep saving man.. its so worth it, peeps say chopping is a chore but DAMN it couldn't be easier and more "natural feeling" I love mine
also the compression effect on the 404 is so unique, that's one thing he should have added to his beat :)
its very good sound bro
🙏🏼
Stay with it
Loved this beat. And, for the record, I actually like chopping on the SP myself; but I'm a glutton for punishment that way... ;) Cheers!
After chopping something on the SP the reward of just playing the sample feels much better than the Mpc :)
Same thing for me! the pads on my 1000 were so bad that I've gotten way more familiar with the work flow for this device. Fortunately I just bought new pads and buttons, otherwise the SP is my comfort zone.
wow, the pitch change on the A actually works! the sx doesn’t sound as good as that
The SX and the A use the exact same FX engine. Outside of the MIDI compatibility with the TR8 it is an identical machine.
As soon as I heard the first chopped samples I was like 😧 goodness bro
Cooking!
nice
I use the beat box method too when I chop samples without drums in it😂
Acho que amor é pouco para descrever o que este som me faz sentir.
Bill Evans, one of my favorites. I’ve got the OG silver 404, cutting samples has been tricky. I’m not really a sample dude, I just collect sounds and use them as textures, I’m thinking of picking up the MPC One, having a visual wave form to edit seems like a dream. lol.
you'll start chopping samples in no time
Top
you found the mark key finally ahaha its actually not a limited machine, it just doesnt make it so you push a button or wipe your finger across a screen to get what you want, people are so lazy these days. want everything done for them. time practise and learning the ins and outs makes for way more creativity and work to get a new feel and discover new techniques making it a whole load more enjoyable, once you take the time to read the instructions of course
Agreed, the SP404 makes you think and work more...but for YOUR benefit as an artist. It's not trying to make things hard, it's trying to make you slow down and think about the music.
man, you are so right! the whole life should be sometimes a jump out of the comfort zone.
Bro I'm loving these sounds I'm looking forward to messing around with some when I get off work today
I dropped some of them on Patreon
You already know I'm there!!! I just got around to downloading some of the recent ones I'm looking forward to checking out the drum and keygroup programs and these chops. I also have a bunch of more drums myself I want to share with you!
@@the_impossible_kid think you could share some of ur drums with me bro ?
@@artissonbeats3057 for sure bro send me your email I'll put something together for you when I get in tonight
Thanks i will try it on fl studio mobile
Friend: Can I borrow your SP404a
Me: Nigga whaaaaat?!?
Didn’t know you can chop beats by pressing mark while playing, thank you
Great video man. By any chance do you know of any video references teaching how to get great at chopping manually? Your chops came out great and I feel mine need some improvement.
I mostly look for sounds on their own without drums. Once you find sounds like that you can chop them with different start points, it's all about trying and seeing what cuts fit your flavour.
did you watch this? czcams.com/video/quBKGMQHaF8/video.html
👍
Fuck yeah dude! Still got skills in unfamiliar territory. Gonna try out the Digitakt. I love my Maschine but I really wanna try out something different.
Digitakt is a cool little piece of hardware. I might get one when I get the chance.
Thanks for your videos. I just got an SP and this is really inspiring. One question, how do you pitch the chops on the SP?
Sampling vinyl on the PO-33 KO next?? Push your limits!
Also, this is why I love Wednesday too.
that could be a fun video
Is this little thing nice for real ?
@@Lolife86 I haven't explored mine to it's fullest potential yet, but just in my first use with one it was worth the price for me.
Coming from an SP-404, I was able to make my first beat / loop within 15 minutes. The FX are great and just fun, like an SP-404's too.
I definitely see it mainly as something to just have a lot of fun with rather than something to really make serious music with though.
@@manipulatingsound agreed. But the pitch on the po-33 is just as good as an sp202
Poderia fazer um vídeo todo em português seria muito legal! Abraços do Brasil.
fantastic beat, well done. what turntable is that? it's beautiful
Love your channel, thanks for doing what you're doing, I learned from your channel how to do this with the MPC LIVE. How come you're using a different machine? Thanks for the video, I'll try that with MPC LIVE,....
I am using a different machine to create more content and have different gear to compare and make more videos. I am still making videos on the Mpc and all new gear that I can get.
Dope as usual! Can you name a few good drum sample packs?
Cookinsoul packs and deadly drums
Torture son...I Committed a crime and admitted to it after the police forced me to make a beat on the SP404.
More people need to see this comment😂
I just bought an sp404
You need to truncate your mark points after each copied chop then reset your make point on the pad that was copied prior.
what kind of turn table are you using?? it looks so nice.
nah man... im telling ya...the sp 555 works out a muscle...a Beat Muscle....
what turntable is that? looks so juicy
Sounds like adult swim! Watching you and others mess around with this device makes me anxious because there's no DAW! I get what you're saying though try to get out of your comfort zone. Maybe one day.
what do you mean by a 'cut'? just the bit you want to sample?
what turntable you using it looks very nice
Garrard
what advantadges do you find while using an SP 404 or an MPC rather than using a DAW and like fl studio or logic pro?
it's a dedicated machine with dedicated buttons, it feels good to work with dedicated hardware, feels like you're more connected to your music.
Hey Marlow, iam playing around with sampled beats for a while now and i wonder how it is with publishing these. Will i run in problems there because of copyright stuff and will they be accepted in Lofi playlist?
Hey Marlow! What do you think of the SP just for sampling sounds into it and make use of it' s FX and record those processed sounds into an MPC? In my case it would be the MPC 1000. Then chop my samples in the MPC and sequence my beat from there. THX!
It's a great combo go for it. The fx from the sp are great.
@@mpchead THX, Marlow! Highly appreciated ♥️🙏 Keep rockin' those smooth jams. Any chance you gonna incorporate more Synth stuff, again? Loved your stuff with the Minibrute 2S 🔥👌
Do you have a list of your top ten jazz records?
I don't have one but bill evans chick corea are up there
What camera are you using for the overhead angle?
Canon 70D
How do you match the piano chops with the bass chop? Just trying?
those chops already had the bass in it, but if not just trying, all done by hearing.
What turntable is that? Looks dope.
Grarrard
@@mpchead Thanks, homie.
What's the difference between the mps and the 404?
