    Thanks CD.
    I have sh!t house full of the 50 gr TNTs in 1000 ct boxes from back when they were 7 1/2 pennies a piece. i moly coat 'em and run them in a couple 223s with a 12 inch twist and 14 inch twist in a 223 AIs. They have been very accurate for me. I drive them pretty hard. I cant recall a bullet coming out of a ground hog. I never got any of the zombie stuff. Those SXs are good for me with 14 twist , I have the 55gr and keep them under 3400fps. I have the 53gr Vmaxs and the 60s. The 53s won't cut in a 14 twist. They work good in my AI 9 inch though. I keep the 60s for my Swifter..
    Have 50, 55, and 60gr btips from way back too when they were reasonable. I ain't payin what they want for them now. I stick with the reasonable priced stuff. Nosler is for rich folk now and I ain't one of them either. Take it easy out there. Lol...

    My pleasure Steven's 222 has killed a lot of deer and woodchuck love the caliber

      @richardbryant5773 Oh the Triple 2 will for sure kill deer. My Remington 700 BDL is a precise killing machine. I knew a ranch hand on the Bush family ranch in Florida that only used a Remington 788 Triple 2 for deer.

    I think a good 222 Rem is so much fun to reload and shoot. Not super long distance killer but deadly within its range and generally very accurate. Thanks

    The Triple Deuce is very underrated and a pleasure to shoot. So long as you mind chamber temps in string fire its barrel will outlast .223 barrels. I have a 14" Encore custom build from 20yrs ago for walking in dog towns that is a tack driver with 50grn Bergers.

      HAVE A HAND ME DOWN 222 -- DADS 722 HE BOUGHT IN 68 OR 69 -- HAS HAD ONE BOX OF FACTORY AMMO THRU IT -- ALL THE REST HIS RELOADS -- VARIOUS 50 GRAIN BULLETS AT A TOUCH BELOW THE FACTORY AMMO SPECS -- THOUSANDS OF ROUNDS DOWN IT -- NO THROAT EROSION & SHOOTS BETTER THAN I CAN -- EASY TO RELOAD -- NEVER GIVE IT UP

    Hmm. My Triple 2 is a 1/14 and it shoots 55 grain just fine. Just a standard Remington 700 BDL. It prefers 55 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip or the Midway generic bullet equivalent. That bullet with the right load will shoot through the same hole at 100 yards. Might have been called Dogtown but if Midway partnered with Nosler on these in 2001, I think I was shooting a generic Midway Nosler way before that. IMR 4198 about 20 grains or so. Lately I have been feeding it Hornady soft points that do not perform as well as the Nosler ballistic tip boat tail but I want a good deer load for it. I may go back to trying some Sierras. I have a whole lot of Winchester Triple 2 brass I stocked up on long ago and doubt I will ever run out. Haha.

    50gr sierra 52gr berger an 52gr fowler custom bullets were my favorite for the 222 rem. 788 very accurate old weaver k8 fine cross hair

    I shot 50gr SX almost exclusively early 70’s then switched Sierra Blitz think the number was 1340. The short ones not Blitzkings. They were more accurate but less explosive than the SX. I tried Nosler 50 BT’s early 90’s and they didn’t work so pulled what I had loaded. I’m going to be trying the Hornady 35 NTX. Supposed to work well in the 222

    Hey CD, if you want cheap bullets check out Midway USA in the Factory Seconds section. They sometimes sell vmax bullets for as low as .13 cents a piece.

    Try 21.1grs. Reloader 7 with a 40gr VMAX. It shoots one hole 5shot groups in my three 222.

    Does the silencer effect accuracy vs not having? Also triple 2 is my favorite caliber second place is 22 hornet. I like you videos a lot.

      Not in my experience, it will change your point of impact though. If you scope is zeroed with the suppressor, always shoot with it.

    Hey cavedweller. I have the same rifle but it has a problem with the ejector, which is not easy to fix and I have done a lot of work on rifles. Just wondering if you have had any such issues with yours and if so what was your solution?

    • @cavedweller1959
      @cavedweller1959  Před 10 měsíci

      Negative, it's been ultra reliable for me for over 50 years. Yours have a weak spring or what is wrong with it??

    • @beestoe993
      @beestoe993 Před 10 měsíci

      @@cavedweller1959 Yea, something like that. Most the time it doesnt eject, just flops onto the feed rail. It would be easy to fix but the blind pin makes it a real problem.

    You don’t do anymore critter shooting videos? That was the only reason I came here. I get why, but that’s too bad. Your load development ideas like this would be interesting, but not detailed enough. Sorry, I liked you videos
