If you read the 5th Amendment, it is written to protect the accused. The protections under the constitution are there for those innocent as it is the most inhumane prospect of a justice system to convict someone who did not commit the crime of which they are being accused. Unfortunately, this in some cases allow the guilty to go free as the philosophy of our system is it is better to let 9 guilty go free than to convict one that is innocent. Statute of limitations support that after a significant passage of time, relevant evidence may be lost, obscured, or not retrievable, and the memories of witnesses may not be as sharp. In Diddy’s case we have video evidence, yet no one came forward and the no one coming forward is far more damaging than the fact that the statute has ran out on the crime. The system is working as it is intended to work, the problem is a society that looks the other way when a wealthy and powerful person commits a crime against a victim that is powerless.

Honey, I got smartER. I devised my plan and left with my 4 children (I already had a good paying job so didn't have to depend on him financially as an incentive to stay)... And I NEVER looked back or went back. 25+ years later, I'm STILL happy and FREE from that sort of treatment. I've never talked bad about him to my children.
