This song is now officially 40 years old and having heard it randomly today in a Trader Joe's in LA I realize it more perfectly encapsulates the feeling of being in your 40s in the year 2024 than Mr. Kershaw could have ever imagined.
I randomly heard this song today in a truck stop coming home from work I almost didn't stop there but decided to anyway although they didn't have what I wanted the fact that I got to hear a small bit of this beloved classic definitely made the stop worth it this was a song I completely forgot about but love love love very much. Still rocking Nik Kershaw in 2024 baby.
Was reminded of this song while playing Song Pop this a.m. I really liked this song in Pretty In Pink. It was just one of those songs you sang while watching the movie for the zillionth time.
40 years huh, can it have been that long already? I suppose so. The world seemed so different then, but I was just a child and so very naieve about everything. Well at least I'm young enough to know that everything taught to me was a lie and I'm not too old to do something about it. Hahaha!
When I discovered this song in the 90s, I was blown away that 80s music could be that "deep" and profound. As a grunge loving 90s music kid, we all thought 80s music was vapid and silly. Oh were we wrong....lol Now I know better...thank you Nik ❤
Haven’t heard this song since grade 1 or 2. Besides being emotional right now, this is a brilliant song, musically speaking. Amazing chord progressions. You can hear that craftsmanship of real musicians.

@@margaretdimick2096 This world has always been filled with horrible people, and horrible times. The 80’s though had normalcy, decency, morals, values that are gone now💔🇺🇸😢
Listen to this song. It's sung in a two person perspective. One person wants to live in a different person's shoes and the other person is telling them that they don't want to be in their shoes cause that person wants out of their own shoes.
My Dad listened to Classic Rock mostly but he loved this song. He passed in 2019 so i come to listen and remember him blasting this on his old school stereo.
I remember a station in Houston, TX that used to play this a good deal in the late 80s and early 90s, and I just fell in love with it then and it's now a great 80s jam song for me. Excellent tune.
Thank you for all your years of service to the music industry! This is still one of my favorite songs. How did you ever write/compose this masterpiece? I still don't want to be here 'no more. :-)
Can we go back to the 80s? I was a kid in that era n i loved this song..this n old school duran duran. Beautiful free fun times 🎉 and this imspired my music thank u Nik
I got it bad You don't know how bad I got it You got it easy You don't know when you've got it good It's getting harder Just keeping life and soul together I'm sick of fighting Even though I know I should The cold is biting Through each and every nerve and fiber My broken spirit is frozen to the core I don't wanna be here no more Wouldn't it be good to be in your shoes Even if it was for just one day? Wouldn't it be good if we could wish ourselves away? Wouldn't it be good to be on your side? The grass is always greener over there Wouldn't it be good if we could live without a care? You must be joking You don't know a thing about it You've got no problem I'd stay right there if I were you I got it harder You couldn't dream how hard I got it Stay out of my shoes If you know what's good for you The heat is stifling Burning me up from the inside The sweat is coming through each and every pore I don't wanna be here no more I don't wanna be here no more I don't wanna be here no more Wouldn't it be good to be in your shoes Even if it was for just one day? Wouldn't it be good if we could wish ourselves away? Ooh-ooh-ooh Wouldn't it be good to be on your side? The grass is always greener over there Wouldn't it be good if we could live without a care? I loved this since I first heard it come out on the late night Video Rock show. This song is still perfect and the video still matches the vibe of the space visitor who absorbs and reflects the traumas of everyone he meets until it drives him to flee. I always hoped it meant he’s returned home at the end.
The 80s in my town were so much calmer. Life was easier. Expectations were obtainable and community based. Humanity is more connected than ever now yet it is the most lonely time in human history
This was a big song for me, always gets me weepy for some reason.. I am grateful that youtube enables Artists to post their music, when the song came out as was so important to me, I had no real way to let you know, very cool to be able to thank you.
I’m 53 and still love this great 80’song never will get tired of this song ❤😊

❤❤
it's cause you are REAL!
Lol...WTF is WRONG with you
Oh I agree!
It sure is. The nostalgia.
"I don't wanna be here no more.
I don't wanna be here no more."
As a kid who grew up in the 80s, I couldn't agree more.
There is a never better time than the 80s. So many memories. ❤
The 80's was pop culture heaven.
Time is what you MAKE it

Heard this song yesterday while leaving Red Lobster. Reminds you of all the great music that helped make the 80s.
A super market (feel good in aisle 6) staple - heard it in Publix yesterday afternoon…

Love your comment ❤. Art made song, nowadays we have just most of the time pure crap!
Sign best of times 😭😭
Indeed......It feels good.
Yup. But it still feels so relevant!!?? Why is that?
Music is the closest thing we have to a Time Machine.
The 80's have the best songs!! The English bands really made some great music. I love this song too.
I was born in ‘83 and am obsessed with this song. It literally gives me goosebumps. I love all the instruments used.
I’m 57 and have reverted back to when I was 18 years old right now! Luv this song
Me too.
I have too.
Same here😊
The words really resonate with me when I'm severely depressed. I play it over and over.
When MTV was MTV!!!

I’m 26 and this song defined a large portion of my childhood
Life was more simple back in the '80s ❤🥲
My favorite song and video of the 1980's. Everytime I listen, I'm 15 again.
Love this classic. They sounded good at Live Aid too.
This song will always be a part of my memories of younger days.....👍👍
So good to hear this again. I was in my young 20s. MTV was new. In fact the whole world seemed new.
Broken Wings, New Girl Now and this. All time classics
Brilliant! Overlooked classic. Never has video and music have meshed better. An awesome achievement!
Song my head today. Helping friends with their issues and barely handling my own. But I will not trade places.
Still loving this song. Thanks Nik.
One of the 80s songs of all time.

I liked this song in the eighties but after listening to it again I realised what a sad song it really is 😢
My office cafe sent me here.
This one is a classic that hasnt been overplayed to death.
" Wouldn't it be good " if there were no wars? Peace, tranquility and happiness😊
This song resonated at age 13 and still hits at my heart for the truth in it. ✨
I love this song and Nik Kershaw forever!
that song helped get me through a rough time. Thanks, Nik for it. ah, the power of music!!
Love this song, both then and now!
I loved this album. He should have been bigger
Ha ha .... this song is brilliant isn't it, so good. I appreciate it much more now than when I was growing up ... in the 80's

I was fourteen years old when this came out.
A staple from the 80’s and such a great song!! Also when videos had a story to them ❤❤❤and taste.
When a drive to my favourite destination, Prince Edward Island province in Canada I play it around 20 times or maybe more!!!!

I love this song♪
If the sax 🎷 player is reading these comments, then kudos 👏 to you. That solo at the very end was a masterpiece.
This is such a damn good song
Being young and loving someone you could never have.
I got it bad
You don't know how bad I got it
You got it easy
You don't know when you've got it good
It's getting harder
Just keeping life and soul together
I'm sick of fighting
Even though I know I should
The cold is biting
Through each and every nerve and fiber
My broken spirit is frozen to the core
I don't wanna be here no more
Wouldn't it be good to be in your shoes

Wouldn't it be good to be on your side?
The grass is always greener over there
Wouldn't it be good if we could live without a care?
You must be joking
You don't know a thing about it
You've got no problem
I'd stay right there if I were you
I got it harder
You couldn't dream how hard I got it
Stay out of my shoes
If you know what's good for you
The heat is stifling
Burning me up from the inside
The sweat is coming through each and every pore
I don't wanna be here no more
I don't wanna be here no more
I don't wanna be here no more
Wouldn't it be good to be in your shoes
Even if it was for just one day?
Wouldn't it be good if we could wish ourselves away?
Ooh-ooh-ooh
Wouldn't it be good to be on your side?
The grass is always greener over there
Wouldn't it be good if we could live without a care?
I got it bad
You don't know how bad I got it
You got it easy
You don't know when you've got it good
It's getting harder

Even though I know I should
I don't want to be here no more
I don't want to be here no more
Thanks you!

Love the video and of course the song. Great one.

Love song 🎶 & cool video!!!
One of the best songs of the 80's. Never gets old. Love it.
I heard this song countless times on the overhead when I worked at Lowe’s. Just now I figured out what it was.
Love this song. Mr kershaw thanks for this awesome gem. From Nz
Man..I'd forgotten that this song even existed..and just how good this tune..and this time..was...
I am almost certain that the Ray Bradbury short stories, "The Martian" and "The Visitor" were the inspirations for this video.
We’ll never get passed it, those of us that were there. We learned what it meant to be truly Romantic. Even tho there was oh so much despair.
Back when the future was not what it turned out to be.
Memories back in the day
