Good evening Tony, hope the road is treating you well. Im interested in finding out what the path is to driving a truck in WA. Im a US citizen, living in the state of Connecticut, Im a class A CDL (commercial drivers license) holder, which means I can drive a combination vehicle , tractor and trailer, up to 80,000lbs, which is approx 36,000 kilos. I have a few endorsements, hazmat, tandems and tanker, but I dont know how that translates in WA or if it's transferable. From the small amount of research I've done I know I have to get a visa, sponsored by an employer preferably, and I should probably go thru an employment agency, such as Indeed to help find potential employers. I'm certain there are some prerequisites to driving on a road train, I'm curious as to what they are. Any info you could give would be greatly appreciated. Have a good day driver!
Ok, the license is transferable, in Australia the equivalent of what you have is class HC, heavy combination or in other words semi trailer - tractor and one trailer 42500kg, for road train you need class MC, multi combination, tractor with multiple trailers that can go up to 300000kg, having the licence that you have you need to transfer that and after to go to a driving school for couple of days and upgrade to MC, it’s costing around AU $ 2700.00.

Do you empty the trailers your self? Or do you swap trailers when you hit the yard?
The refrigerated trailers I do push all the pallets out to the back door with the pallet trolley and the tautliners , flatbed trailers I only remove the straps and chains for them to unload
