- Here's a walk-through of the show bikes and the awards' ceremony. I tried my best to cover the bikes as thoroughly as possible that would interest the most people. I'm sorry for not going in for close-ups of each of them. That would be a much longer video than I had time for unfortunately (I was also trying to sell bikes as a vendor and couldn't be away from my table for very long). Enjoy!
If you missed this event in 2022 be sure and come in 2024: www.classicbicyclesauburn.com
the best of the very best
I'm sort of dizzy from the quick camera moving around... dizzy from the great old bikes, too. awesome.
Sorry but I have to agree with the dizzy camera work. Slow it down and take a step back please so the viewer may appreciate the entire subject, not everything needs to be shot as a close up. I’ll give you 4/10 for effort and I’m sure you’ll do better next time!
I had very little time as I had my own booth of stuff I was trying to sell. Perhaps it would've been better had I not even spent the hour shooting this video and instead enjoyed it with my own eyes. @@donalrides1508
Great video Tim. Wow! 51k views!
Thx John. Hopefully today's videos of the 2024 show will turn out!
Gitane, Bianchi, Colnago, Peugeot, ...this is awesome 👌
Great video! Thanks for doing this, Tim.
Thanks BertoBerg. It was my pleasure; wish I had more time to enjoy the bikes without looking thru my camera!
@flyingdutchmanROS Which one you would suggest in frame size 25" or 26" or 27" for personal use?
I remember seeing that Jonathan Boyer Confente (with its distinctive Stars and Stripes head tube) in an advertisement (for what?…I can’t remember!) in a cycling magazine back in the early ‘80’s.
Tim, Great job getting us just a peek of what was there. Video will never be able to duplicate an in person browse thru paradise. BTW if you still have that Semi Pro and if it is 60 CM CtC please let me know😍
I do still have that Centurion Semi Pro. Here's the details: facebook.com/marketplace/item/277466142030621/

1977 Confente will have my Peoples Choice vote…
I had the world's only NOS 1968 Peugeot professional team track bike, custom made, all Campagnolo. Unusual for Peugeot.
I sold it to a guy in Wisconsin because it did not fit me well.
He parted it out. It's gone forever.
Don't part out your classic bike.
I agree. I hate parting out bikes unless the frames are badly damaged/ rusted, etc. Sad that so many people do part out bikes just to increase their $$.
I have vintage Masi Gran Criterium 60’s
Italian threads?
Camera action is frenetic and jerky. I appreciate you doing the video and suggest you aim for a smoother, slower shooting technique for top results.
Glad you appreciate the video; many people take lots of photos and videos which never get posted anywhere. If you only had a short time to look at those show bikes and try to document them all I think you'd find you'd end up with similar results. I'd love to have gone much slower and methodically through the show but.... I'm also not making $$ with these videos so not about to spend $$ on pro gear to make pro-quality videos.
Great video. Curious, to enter a bike in such competition, do people usually repaint, or is it most common to just refurbish it in whatever condition the finish might already be in?
Repainted bikes typically don't get as much appreciation as original paint bikes in nice condition. If they're really beat up and rusty, that's another story.
wow man... beatifull bicycles . here where I live we don´t have all that. leandro rafael amaral from brazil. (Porto Alegre -RS)
My eyes are swimming.
Kamera to fast😢
Sorry, I wanted to cover all the bikes in the show AND get back to my booth outside where I had a friend watching 8 very nice bikes I had for sale (which didn't sell sadly).
"Hidden brake lines, Arthur Fonzerelli crank, moose knuckle bars, nice lugs..Hey outta the way pal I'm making a video here."
Exactly! Working here!
Steel is Real!
Show de bola.
My 1980 Motobecane Grand Sprint, powder coated in a non-Motobecane color but with otherwise all original/accurate/period-correct reproduction parts and decals would have won for "Best Non-Accurate Pseudo-Restoration Because That's How I Wanted It" had I been there. Why not? There was an award for pretty much everything else.
There certainly were lots of awards. I'm sure it'll get refined in the coming years as the show matures.
que história museu das lendárias de varias épocas.
Great video, I plan on attending next year!
Thanks. Hope to meet you there.
@@flyingdutchmanROS Same. Do you live in the Midwest? Thinking about having a miniature vintage bike party here at the garage.
@@JohnsVintageRoadBikeGarage Yes, would love a good excuse to visit your museum! Pls. PM me on FB: timpotter63

Which brake levers are used by Jeffrey Bock @ 12:00 ? Never seen those before.
Sorry, I have no idea. Come to the event next June and maybe the owner will have it there again and you can ask him/ her. www.classicbicyclesauburn.com/
That black CIOCC track bike looks like my old team bike. I was assigned that exact same color spec when I raced for the junior team in 1985. Is it a 55 or 56cm?

I want to go next year.

wwooww the heaven in earth
Sorry to say it but it’s true, Shame it’s only 480p
I'll see if I can upload a higher quality version of the video.
It was a Facebook Live video and they archive it in low res unfortunately. Good news is the show is back this summer, so you can come and see it with your own eyes!

Beautiful - but is the young generation interested in old bikes? I hope so.
Some seem to be. They need our encouragement and support. Avoid lecturing them, correcting them (I know, very hard to NOT do that when they mispronounce things, don't know the right terms or tools, etc.).
It's the only type of road bike most of us can afford. Personally I am also more into the looks of chrome and flashy color paintjobs. But in general you see a lot of university students on vintage bikes.
As much as lm a fan of old steel I’m of the opinion that once you take the paint off an old bike and respray it it’s no longer the classic it was.
🤔 well All my vintage bikes have faded paint with spots of bare steel. I’d love to refurbish a couple so they could be bling like some of these guys in the vid.
That’s true, I have vintage bikes that are completely as they left the factory, but others really needed to be restored, they had deteriorated past just leaving them as found. if you found the first Colnago bicycle that was made by Ernesto and it needed frame repair to make it rideable would it be less desirable if it was re painted, it is still a Colnago.
Sure ... not the classic it once was, or could be if given the best care over the years. But a sadly neglected and rusty old classic can be a beautiful new classic and an exciting inspiration after full restoration by a talented artisan. I love to see that kind of work.
The paint fades the steel remains, the lugs can be awesome to dress up, a nice paint and hand detail is a work of art.
where your direccion, no put namber tele: like me bicico
Don't these bikes deserve to be filmed in HD? I'm sure they are beautiful bikes but I can't tell by watching this video.
Yes indeed. I'll see if I can upload a higher quality version of the video.
