One Punch Man - Genos' Training (audio book)

- Translated the One Punch Man Maji Drama CD Vol. 2, titled ‘Genos, Training’. The event is presumed to be taking place sometime after season one of anime, but before Genos meets Gouketsu.
Dr. Kuseno develops Virtual Genocide System (VGS), a headgear that reads brainwaves and simulates battles between the wearer and monster data stored in VGS. You picture how you fight in your head and VGS will carry it out in the simulation, the resulting battle is visualized on an external monitor. Genos uses these simulated battles to gauge his abilities and gain experience. The events in the audio drama take place before Genos’ encounter with Gouketsu, as in the episode Genos claims Carnage Kabuto was the strongest monster he faced. Given the release date and small details in the dialogue, like how characters refer to each other, Japanese fans are saying it's Genos post-G4 upgrade.

“Why would I lose to myself from yesterday?”
Fucking legend.
Fun Fact: ONE confirmed that Saitama never stopped his training he just does it in like a milisecond.
yeah it makes sense why he would be able to beat himself yesterday. If he still does his training he still just gets stronger.
Or it can mean that the vgs is incapable of registering Santana’s full power and created a ghost with only a fraction of his power
@@chlamydiacaptain1234 Yea both makes sense
@@ZETSUBOBILLY He doesn't get stronger, saitama told king that he couldn't get any stronger, and if he gets stronger everyday, then that would mean that when he fought Garou he was much stronger than when he fought Boros, that would mean that garou is a lot, like a lot stronger than Boros, but ONE stated that Garou and Boros are on the same level.

2. The VGS cant quantify Saitama's power(most probable). or
3. For some unknown reason Saitama will always be massively stronger than the current opponent he is facing.

Since a game is rng based and this simulation can recognize his meta luck, the outcome would always create a reality where King would win 10 out of 10.

Baguette of revenge yeah maybe his real world luck would help him and like the game would glitch and give him the powers of Saitama or something

Carnage Kabuto is a beast!
Thanks
Just some math for fun: considering how completely casual Saitama was (he didn't even seem to realize the ghost was him until Genos said so), let's say Saitama was 100 times stronger than the day before. As it was just a normal day, he would be getting 100 times stronger each day. This would stack exponentially. After a week he'd be 100^7, 100 trillion, times stronger. After a month he'd be 100^30=1e+60. 1 novemdecillion times stronger.
Short essay to clear up a few misconceptions:
It doesn't seem to be the case that the Virtual Genocide System simply can't virtualize Saitama's strength. If this was the case, how would it recognize that one Saitama was stronger than the other? There are also no errors or anything indicated. The machine did shut down after Darkshine lost to Saitama's ghost, but I think that was just Genos shutting it off so he could quickly go try it with Saitama. Saitama also takes it as a given that he would be stronger than himself from yesterday. So it's pretty much guaranteed that he's just growing daily, which makes sense with him having no limiter.
I believe this is just passive growth. I know that supposedly Murata said in an interview once that Saitama still trains, but this is contradicted in the story by Genos observing Saitama non-stop for the secret of his strength, even taking notes on how he reads manga. It's obvious that Saitama usually does nothing all day, and Genos didn't even know about the training until Saitama talked about doing it previously. It also wouldn't make sense for Saitama to keep training since he's already too strong to enjoy any of his fights and is feeling depressed because of it. Lastly, his training wouldn't make any difference anymore anyway. It's like saying he grew stronger by beating Deep Sea King. The training had previously pushed him to and past his limits. No challenge and no stress on his body means it's not going to make any difference.
Some people seem to think that this growth and his faster growth against Garou debunk all the statements about him being limitless and his whole narrative of being a maxed out character with infinite strength. They'll also use the conversation with King from a few years ago about hitting his limit and not being able to enjoy growing anymore, and might even lie that this was said right after his fight with Garou. All of this can be reconciled if we simply take "limitless growth" as what it would truly mean. If there's ever a situation where he isn't growing, or where he's not capable of growing to some certain level, that would be a limit on his growth and on his strength. This means that when it comes down to it, there is no level of strength that he's not capable of using. When Saitama removed his limiter, he essentially maxed himself out permanently. No matter who he faces, he will be stronger. Otherwise he still has a limiter (and also the foundation of the series falls apart). And when you have that level of strength, of course you'll feel like you've stagnated, because everything will feel weak. Even someone copying your own strength will get left in the dust. How can you enjoy growth when it just further cements the fact that you'll never feel the joy of a real challenge or growth beyond what you already have, which is limitless growth.
If when talking to King he actually did mean he can't grow in any way, keep in mind that Saitama's didn't actually know anything about limiters or God (and still doesn't). It would make sense if he feels like he's not growing anymore since there's no way to test his strength when nothing could match him.
Damn
Shorten it to 20 words or less dude…
@@mondiramaji791 Saitama's growth, and ultimately his strength, has no limits despite what he said to King and the Garou fight graph
@@Supreme_Court. Ah, that’s true. Even though Saitama himself has no idea about limiters, these little moments that show his perception on his growth and strength certainly are clues to how his strength really functions still.

I think saitama hasnt really unleash his full power in the first virtual simulation. Even if he unleashes 0.00001 more power than previous simulation, he is still able to beat his ghost.
True !
That virtual machine can't even properly scan Metal Bat power.
So yeah this prove that machine wasn't perfect to begin with.

@Sentinel Saitama has not unlimited power this was confirmed many times not only in the Manga but by Murata, writer ONE and Mathematics including myself.
Saitama litterally even states in THIS audio book that he can defeat his past self, which makes his past self not unlimited to begin with, neighter does it his present.
@Sentinel so my friend, first of all the "broken limiter" is a THEORY not a FACT. And it's not even a theory by a fan like Zhoniin or Murata but a CHARACTER in the world of one punch man: Dr. Genus.
Second it doesn't matter if the device couldn't measure Saitamas power if Saitama litterally ANSWERED the question of Genos with "that he would not lose to his past self". Murata stated Saitama does have infinite potential, every fictional character has it! BTW you can find this information on Saitamas page on the opm Wikipedia OR you use something with unimaginable power of knowledge known as "Goggle search".
And your third question is simply dumb. The world of OPM is litterally an exoplanet with the same physics as our earth and Saitama is BOUND to those physics. Because if he wasn't he would be at least 4 dimensional and could glide through objects at will. But he can't, he can't even breathe in space. He needs air, shown 3 times in the series actually! In the chapter were he fights against the ninja Brothers he confirmed that he can get sick. A simple infection could literally kill the guy.
Of course this has nothing to do with physical kinetic energy output, but are facts that make Saitama not infinite as a character. (Actually just one weakness makes him not unlimited in character).
But this does confirm he's not unlimited without math: he has different move sets. He wouldnt need one if his power output was unlimited.
Do you even have a idea what infinity is? Hopefully I'm not talking to another 12 year old? If so, this is very time consuming... for me, since your simple mind would not be able to understand the parameters of the unlimited.
@@-schattenpflanze-3755 Murata never said Saitama has limits nor ONE. Infinite potential is not a feat to stand out
Saitama removed a limiter that Dr Genus found "all" humans to have.
@@-schattenpflanze-3755 The best way for a creator like ONE to show that Saitama has infinite power is through a character. There's really no other way
And the best choice for this character would be a scientist.
Saitama has infinite endurance, power, durability. The only thing that makes him still have potential, is his lack of his fighting skills.
The only thing that Murata told about Saitama was that despite his situation he still works out.

@@ethanquirk28 yeah, you're right. I'll go for the first one, since I don't think it had a maximum power level
I think the simulator only calculated the amount of power saitama used the previous time to fight. Which means if he wasn't serious, the data would be of a not so serious saitama. (but its also possible that it can't calculate all of saitama's power)

Ok so this confirms it, Carnage Kabuto is stronger than Deep Sea King
I'm just going to repeat a comment I already made in this section since CK being stronger is kinda obvious:
- Carnage Kabuto in his Carnage Mode sent Saitama packing while Deep Sea King in his hydrated state could barely even move him.
- CK is stated to be a Dragon level threat in the guidebook, whereas DSK is a Demon.
- No only that, but CK was made back when ONE hadn't put much thought into the series, thus is one of the strongest monsters in spite of being one of the earlier ones, like Marugori and Vaccine Man, who are also stupidly strong Dragon level monsters. It's not until Boros and his lieutenants that we get to see similarly strong or stronger foes (barring the meteor which doesn't count).
- According to the manga's artist Yusuke Murata, the S-Class hero Superalloy Darkshine can kill monsters as strong as the Deep Sea King with a light touch, and CK in this simulation forced him to use his full power and still took 15 minutes to be defeated.
- Even if you want to discard all of that... CK toyed with a Genos that was giving it his all and literally blew away his last incineration blast as if he was blowing out a candle. DSK was going to lose even against an injured Genos that was missing an arm.

@@jdcreep5394 No way! I understand how you could think that because Kabuto backed away at first from attacking Saitama. But you have to remember that even before Kabuto went into "carnage mode" Genos couldn't even touch him. However when Genos was fighting with Sea King he was able to go blow for blow with him and was even able to hold him off long enough to try to get the evacuees to escape and that was with one arm! Unfortunately he lost the momentum when he got hit with the acid trying to save the girls life. Also he dropped his guard at first when he thought he finished sea king off with that first flame and so got caught blindsided. If it weren't for those two things he would've held in longer. Honestly I think that fight would've gone alot differently if those evacuees weren't in the way and Genos could've actually focused on Sea King without distraction of the bystanders.
Wait Carnage Kabuto is stronger than Deep Sea King???
Elite Thor well yeah, if you think about it, the Deep Sea King’s punch barely rattled Saitama’s head, Carnage Kabuto pinged him around the room with each of his strikes
