The SRS bolt actions are some of the most accurate "factory rifles" in the world. Owners get bench rest accuracy out of them... I have shot in 9 competitions so far and a SRS has won 7 of them out of 30 shooters and only 6 dtas there.
This little bullpup is nasty...
this really is kinda a spiritual successor to the magpul PRD. An ultra-compact 5.56 bullpup carbine

The MDR design probably doesn't support pistol length gas system as would be required for a short Blackout barrel.

It's actually only 2100 with forward eject and 799 for each conversion kits so nowhere near 5k! Lol. I found mine, black 16" 5.56 fe 2 months ago. Check out Sportsman's Finest in Texas, they had a few in stock and got it transfered to ffl pretty quick too!
@@jake3860 They must have came down; when they first came out, I remember they were like $2800 to $3200 --- same as a scar.... So you're saying $2900 including conversion/ plus $700 to $1000 for the suppressor/ plus $400 for the two tax stamps. Plus likely $200 to $300 for that forend wants its out. Plus $2k for the Elcan. So that's $6200 -- so Its not that fra from $7 like I said. Plus $11k for the ammo-- so I was pretty close.
@@calholli MSRP on the 16" 5.56 SE MDRX is $1880.00. I think you are pricing the SRS Chassis which is around $3200.00

These things convert to 308-- I think a 6.5 creed would be pretty easy, if they would just build the barrel for it. This thing with a 18" 6.5 creed would be insane.

Very cool that they are going to be offering a short barrel. I hope they initially offer a short barrel in .300 Blackout as well. Maybe in the near future they will come out with .350 Legend as well. :-)

Ordered my MDRX last year and it was planned to arrive November 12th last year and still have no idea when it'll arrive... great weapon system but it can take forever to get one in your hands.
They said it would take two months for mine to arrive, but it took five. They are just really having trouble keeping up with demand. I would rather wait a few months longer than have to send it back for repair because they rushed to finish it. Mine works great. No problems at all. 👍

Im thinking about creating a milled Ar15 lower bullpup kit to sell. It will be compatible with any ar15 upper. It would also come with a specific, "compact BCG". Otherwise there would not be enough space to chamber another round. I would also build a complete rifle to sell as well for people who don't want to build it.

Desert tech only offers the side eject in 5.56. But is there a reason why the SE wouldn't work if you install a barrel from the .300blk kit and ran .300blk ammo?
Yes, the barrel extension and the bolt are completely different from the SE to the forward eject model.

Have you seen the price of guns recently? It's not that much. But if you can't really afford it, consider the KelTec RDB.

No
It's chamber is a .223 Wylde. That means you can shoot both .223 and 5.56 safely, reliably, and accurately.
Is there a conversion kit for 6.8spc ?
There were some barrel makers offering barrels for the MDR in calibers like .350 Legend, but not since early 2020. Hopefully they will be able to catch up and offer some more caliber options soon. I'm wondering when Desert Tech is going to start offering it in 7.62x39.

Just get a different pistol. There are hundreds of better pistols out there. Just buy an M&P if you want to stay with S&W.
You cannot replace the frame on the SD_VE's. If you don't like the grip texture, I recommend Talon Grips. It's basically custom cut skateboard tape for your gun. If the grip is too small or you want a softer grip, I recommend a Hogue grip sleeve.

I think so. With a 10" barrel, you get about half the energy out of the 5.56 as with a full length barrel. I get more energy from my .357 SIG defensive rounds out of a 4" barrel. But you still get better penetration with the 5.56 and a more stable platform that with a folded or collapsed brace you can carry concealed in a bag. And in some states you cannot conceal carry a rifle and/or an sbr.
@@AverageJoe4063 Good point. North Carolina concealed carry doesn't cover rifles. Copy on the ballistics from the 357 Sig, but you can also factor in the 44 mag, etc.
One factor to consider also is the concussion of a 556 from a 10 inch barrel. I was in a room when a negligent round was fired from an AR pistol. No one was hurt except the concrete floor. It was nearly the same as a flash bang. It rang everyone's bells.
I can only imagine someone breaking into my house and being greeted by an AR pistol, with a diverter on the muzzle, barking at them.
