When you are tempted, just move on, do not move the temptations away from you, for you will know that it will come back. That's what I learned from this video.

oh wow soo true, when i fast for more than 3 days its the things I don't even eat I crave. But if I stay out of the site of food I can do it. after a while i don't even feel hungry. You have to leave the dwelling places of sin and temptation. Then you will be fine. Yes it is everywhere but dont go where sin is stay safe
i think the message is "once you're in a battle with temptation, the only way to win is to leave the arena where you fight(or that box of goodies over there :D) because if you try to fight it and not avoid it, chances are, you'll end up loosing" :D
@pilyako11 It is simple. But the decision to do so is not... Which begs the questions: If I let go, will it help and improve my life or will it haunt me because it was a mistake to do so? If I don't, is this really what I want for myself or do I need to get rid of this weight?... In my experience, God has a way of making things appear simple if you step back and let Him take the steering wheel of your life. So kapatid, isuko mo na ang problema mo kung d mo na kaya. He's ever ready to help you.

fasting (not eating for a short time while praying) is really hard to do. some do it hours. others days. some weeks without eating when we eat, our brain is bogged down by the food processing. it makes it harder to hear from God. God showed me this recently. I loved food more than God, and disobeyed Him so I could eat what I wanted to. but He was just trying to help me. food can be an idol... something we think about, spend time and money on.. and love more than we love God. so we should remove temptations from us. it could be alcohol, comics with sexy women drawings, scary movies, whatever we spend all our time on, instead of spending time with God first. it's ok to have and enjoy good things. but we can't let these things rule our lives. I spend all my time sculpting and playing Xbox, instead of talking to God and reading His word (which will change my heart and mind to understand God)
The Holy Spirit taught me 2 lessons from this clip. Firstly, it gave us a guidance for fasting. Fasting is very difficult cause honestly who can't deny foods? It's such an achievement to us when we accomplish this-- not that when we do, we can brag about it-- but because we successfully sought God and overcame pleasures luring around us. It says that fasting is important and God-pleasing as it's all about denying even our necessary pleasures and sacrificing ourselves cleanly in front of the throne of God. Second, practically speaking, as we see the boy praying for God to remove temptations crowding him, God instead told him to leave it-- showing that it is on us-- if we really desire to break the addiction or the same temptation that has been delaying our walk with God every single day, instead of just repenting or asking God to make actions, we, too, should cooperate. We should whole-heartingly leave the place that has been hindering us to follow and have an intimate relationship with Jesus. See, Jesus did not pull the boy out of the place, nor He removed even one of the temptations, but HE COMMANDS US to get closer to Him. Again, It's on us if we obey or deny and keep suffering.
