We changed to IEW also this year from TGATB for the same reasons! We are LOVING it! I highly recommend TGATB for 1st time homeschoolers (easy, open and go) but after a few years you know your child well enough to tweak for what works best for them! I really appreciate your honesty and leaning in to HIM to find what works best!
Congratulations and many answered prayers about your sweet baby!

I love easing in. I’m 2 weeks away from starting & feel totally unprepared at the moment. I think I totally over purchased & may just have to put some things on the shelf & be realistic. I love that you’re starting w/ read alouds & Bible. I may take that plan. 🥰

I definitely feel like I purchased too much for our morning basket materials so I plan on doing a loop schedule. That way we can use everything but it’s not intense and stressful. I hope your year starts off great in two weeks!

I feel completely the same. I wanted to start our new school year at the beginning of August, and we haven't really started yet... ugh. We're going to officially start after Labor Day because I still need to nail some things down and do some prep work to feel better prepared. We're doing a few things now, but it's not as structured. My threenager needs structure and so do I. haha

I love your takeaway from the homeschool conference, "you do not have to be perfect to start." Sage advice. We started our fifth year this past week. We are easing into this year, slowly adding in activities (swim music, homeschool PE) to see what works. In previous years, I have overscheduled us. Always learning, always growing. We are hybrid homeschoolers and our son attended one day this week of his two-day-per-week on-site brick-and-mortar school. Have a great year!

We are drawn to a lot of the same things...we switched to MathUSee a couple of years ago. Their customer support is really good, too! We did CC at the very beginning of our journey, but it was too intense for us, lol. I love Andrew Pudewa, too, and his curriculum is very well done. We have his poetry book, too!
I was going to start school today (Wednesday) but I do not feel ready quite yet!So I pushed our start date forward to Monday. All the best to you in this new school year and with all of your family adventures 😊 ❤️.

The poetry is awesome. My son has loved it so far. This last year, we did the SCM Poetry Study with Robert Louis Stevenson, but we still went back to the IEW poetry from time to time. My son remembers most of the poems we have done with IEW so far. We didn't always listen to the audio CDs. It's great for fluency. Thank you for your encouragement! @@HomegrownHomeschool

We started win mid may but we started with minimal plans and slowly!!! This year we had a long Easter break!!! We love world watch news!!! We started our year with math as my kids love to get math out of the way in time for extra science in January!!! I will add in math supplements after the math curriculum is finished!!! I don’t have any kids In TGTB math!!! My youngest is doing math with confidence and I have one doing grade 3 to fill in gaps and my nephew is the only one doing math you see as my kids don’t like math you see!!! My other kids are doing Singapore and easy peasy!!!

I used masterbooks then TGATB too haha and then switched to sonlight for history and geography and I found myself doing language arts the CM way so now we rest using Ambleside Online. We also use math U see. It’s the perfect combo. We plan on trying IEW for highschool but doing language arts the Charlotte Mason way is said to be enough so for now that’s where we rest. We did use writing with ease for a bit and that really helped my son see a different way from public school. We are testing out writing and rhetoric though this year for my 10 yo because I fell in love with it.m and it’s more creative schole.. But I love the true classical CM way. Just have to be careful not to mix true classical with NEOclassical bc they are different.

Girl, look into IEW. Listen to the talk from Andrew Pudewa that I linked in the description. I swear he makes it all just make sense! We’re a few lessons in and loving it so far. Even the fix it grammar has been a hit so far. My son is literally busting through one weeks worth of work from it a day with a goal to finish the whole thing in a month 🤣 I’m waiting for the newness of the year to wear off before he ditches that idea LOL otherwise I’ll be buying the next set by October
