I think it really helped that we started the trip out with Mont Blanc, because it was so high and so physically challenging that it really set the tone and got us acclimated for everything that came after. By the time we got to the Dolomites and Switzerland, we were basically feeling like we could climb anything! ❤️

All I have to say is Cloudripper past the seventh lake. Puzzle Palace. That is where I want to spend a month. I Love the Palisades. The epitome of the Sierra Nevada wildness. Always on my mind. Calls me incessantly. The Alps are beautiful, and Alaska is huge. Beartooth full of Griz, but Palisades brings it all. Camping under Temple Crag below the meadow to the glacier is gorgeousness. Love Germany Austria Swiss Italy Alps but to many rules and civilization for me. I love these videos though, new standard in line up. Love your travels. Only way I am going to the Alps. Thanks!

Very cool! My favorite spot. From Cortina d'Ampezzo you can go 360° in any direction and it will always be awesome. I don't know any other place in the dolomites or anywhere else, for that matter, that has so many fantastic and spectacular mountains all around in close vincinity. Of course this is no secret and in August it is ridiculously packed.
Yes! You are right about all of the above -- so beautiful, but it can get really busy. Whenever we're in these areas we always try to get up and out on the climb before sunrise. Often we're all alone up there -- until of course we come down and then see all the crowds of people coming up! ❤️
This Dolomite hike attempt by Adam & Elise is anything but a hike, It’s straight up vertical, it’s a climb and one of the most thrilling films they’ve produced this year. There is no escaping the sweaty palms or shortness of breath, everything about the climb is absolutely nerve-wracking even if you know or are pretty sure you know the outcome. Great video, the beauty of Cortina zone is unique and you got it. Tofana di Mezzo is not only a very difficult via Ferrata bur it is also very long and phisically demanding. I dd it in 1974

Since you climbed this all the way back in '74, you must have done almost all of the the Dolomites via ferratas at some point. @@LiveHardxLoveHard for your next trip to Dolomites, I suggest you two via ferrata in Civetta group: the Alleghesi to the summit, 3200mt, and the Costantini to mount Moiazza, very difficult and demanding. You'll enjoy both. Ps I confirm you that the most difficult is the Piazzetta, vertical and too athletic, in the Sella group. You climbed it, congratulations

It makes them so much fun, because there are literally hundreds of places over hundreds of square miles when you can climb straight up a few thousand feet and get crazy and unique views. We both just love it! ❤️

I've done a few Via Ferratas in that area (but not this one) and they are all fabulous. Someone once said to me that Via Ferratas enable the man/woman in the street to get further from the street than he/she ever thought possible. Enjoy!

It's a relatively safe and simple portal into the world of climbing and mountaineering, and for us at least it really opened up that more technical and exhilarating kind of adventure in a very accessible way and encouraged us to greatly accelerate our progress as climbers and mountaineers. ❤

Thanks very much -- so glad you're enjoying the hikes and the footage! This one wasn't too bad in terms of time, because though very vertical in places it wasn't super long. It took us about 3 hours all in. And you're right -- with almost every big via ferrata there's a trail down from the top that is easier to descend than going back down the cables would be. On this one the trail got a little sketchy, but it had adorable sheep so we couldn't complain! ❤️
And my favorite mtn goats gallup up sheer cliffs again! Escorted by their cousins who live in the region :) Q: what is Adam munching at the snakspots in lieu of pop-tarts? Is there an Italian variation of said pastry? And what is Elise's go-to snakspot fuel?
Now that is a very important question, Liam. Adam managed to find himself a Dutch version called Stroopwafels, which are these delicious little waffel-cookie caramel confections that he was just crushing all trip long. He still prefers pop-tarts, but his ability to quickly shift gears was amazing. I was trying to be healthy and make my own snacks, but I'm not going to lie: I got into Adam's Stroopwafels more often than not. ❤️ --E
ciao to both of you ! i just found your channel a few days ago …. i happen to be from the dolomites , i live in bolzano and also in san cassiano which is basically close to cortina so i know all the hikes you do ! i personally hike but do not climb . i also happen to have a condo in rancho mirage which is close to palm springs and i was already dreaming of doing the cactus to cloud hike , but since i saw your video about it i somehow changed my mind 😂 - will use the cable car instead . if you ever come back to south tirol let me know , maybe i can give you some ideas ! chapeau to both of you !

Meanwhile, that's lovely you have a condo in Rancho Mirage, it's a great area. And you should definitely do the Cactus to Clouds part of the hike -- it's a wonderful 11,000 foot climb! But maybe just take the tram down at the end, so you can avoid the last 8000 feet of the descent! ❤️
Yes Rick the Dolomites are so crazy like that! So many of them just go literally straight up! We don't have too much of that here in the states -- the Tetons, the face of Half Dome, and some other cool places, but not just hundreds of peaks jutting straight up into the air! ❤️

I think it really helped that we started the trip out with Mont Blanc, because it was so high and so physically challenging that it really set the tone and got us acclimated for everything that came after. By the time we got to the Dolomites and Switzerland, we were basically feeling like we could climb anything! ❤️

All I have to say is Cloudripper past the seventh lake. Puzzle Palace. That is where I want to spend a month. I Love the Palisades. The epitome of the Sierra Nevada wildness. Always on my mind. Calls me incessantly. The Alps are beautiful, and Alaska is huge. Beartooth full of Griz, but Palisades brings it all. Camping under Temple Crag below the meadow to the glacier is gorgeousness.
Love Germany Austria Swiss Italy Alps but to many rules and civilization for me. I love these videos though, new standard in line up. Love your travels. Only way I am going to the Alps. Thanks!

Very cool! My favorite spot. From Cortina d'Ampezzo you can go 360° in any direction and it will always be awesome. I don't know any other place in the dolomites or anywhere else, for that matter, that has so many fantastic and spectacular mountains all around in close vincinity. Of course this is no secret and in August it is ridiculously packed.
Yes! You are right about all of the above -- so beautiful, but it can get really busy. Whenever we're in these areas we always try to get up and out on the climb before sunrise. Often we're all alone up there -- until of course we come down and then see all the crowds of people coming up! ❤️

This Dolomite hike attempt by Adam & Elise is anything but a hike, It’s straight up vertical, it’s a climb and one of the most thrilling films they’ve produced this year.
There is no escaping the sweaty palms or shortness of breath, everything about the climb is absolutely nerve-wracking even if you know or are pretty sure you know the outcome.

Great video, the beauty of Cortina zone is unique and you got it. Tofana di Mezzo is not only a very difficult via Ferrata bur it is also very long and phisically demanding. I dd it in 1974

Since you climbed this all the way back in '74, you must have done almost all of the the Dolomites via ferratas at some point. Please let us know if there are any that you think we must do, either because of beauty or difficulty level or both, the next time we come. We love getting recommendations for interesting climbs! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard for your next trip to Dolomites, I suggest you two via ferrata in Civetta group: the Alleghesi to the summit, 3200mt, and the Costantini to mount Moiazza, very difficult and demanding. You'll enjoy both. Ps I confirm you that the most difficult is the Piazzetta, vertical and too athletic, in the Sella group. You climbed it, congratulations

It's right up your alley, solitary, spicy and with a great via ferrata or two mixed in! It's my dream hike if I ever work up the courage. :)
For sure, Teddie! We're definitely planning to do that, and of course the Haute Route, and lots of other multi-day adventures as soon as we can get over there for a longer time. It's just such an incredible place. Between the Dolomites and the Alps, we could probably do a different beautiful hike every day for 5 years and not run out! ❤️

It makes them so much fun, because there are literally hundreds of places over hundreds of square miles when you can climb straight up a few thousand feet and get crazy and unique views. We both just love it! ❤️

I've done a few Via Ferratas in that area (but not this one) and they are all fabulous. Someone once said to me that Via Ferratas enable the man/woman in the street to get further from the street than he/she ever thought possible. Enjoy!
Thanks Roger, and that's very well said. VFs really do transport you to a different place. It's a relatively safe and simple portal into the world of climbing and mountaineering, and for us at least it really opened up that more technical and exhilarating kind of adventure in a very accessible way and encouraged us to greatly accelerate our progress as climbers and mountaineers. ❤
@@LiveHardxLoveHard - Tridentina was my favourite. Insane exposure traversing a slab with a 1500ft drop, but felt perfectly safe when clipped in. You guys have such a great attitude. Everyone who has lived has died, but sadly not everyone who dies has lived!

Thanks very much -- so glad you're enjoying the hikes and the footage! This one wasn't too bad in terms of time, because though very vertical in places it wasn't super long. It took us about 3 hours all in. And you're right -- with almost every big via ferrata there's a trail down from the top that is easier to descend than going back down the cables would be. On this one the trail got a little sketchy, but it had adorable sheep so we couldn't complain! ❤️
And my favorite mtn goats gallup up sheer cliffs again! Escorted by their cousins who live in the region :)

Adam managed to find himself a Dutch version called Stroopwafels, which are these delicious little waffel-cookie caramel confections that he was just crushing all trip long. He still prefers pop-tarts, but his ability to quickly shift gears was amazing. I was trying to be healthy and make my own snacks, but I'm not going to lie: I got into Adam's Stroopwafels more often than not. ❤️ --E

ciao to both of you ! i just found your channel a few days ago …. i happen to be from the dolomites , i live in bolzano and also in san cassiano which is basically close to cortina so i know all the hikes you do ! i personally hike but do not climb . i also happen to have a condo in rancho mirage which is close to palm springs and i was already dreaming of doing the cactus to cloud hike , but since i saw your video about it i somehow changed my mind 😂 - will use the cable car instead . if you ever come back to south tirol let me know , maybe i can give you some ideas ! chapeau to both of you !
Ciao, Burkhard! So glad you found us, and we would love to get your advice the next time we come back. We will come back often, because we love hiking and climbing there! Meanwhile, that's lovely you have a condo in Rancho Mirage, it's a great area. And you should definitely do the Cactus to Clouds part of the hike -- it's a wonderful 11,000 foot climb! But maybe just take the tram down at the end, so you can avoid the last 8000 feet of the descent! ❤️

Yes Rick the Dolomites are so crazy like that! So many of them just go literally straight up! We don't have too much of that here in the states -- the Tetons, the face of Half Dome, and some other cool places, but not just hundreds of peaks jutting straight up into the air! ❤️
